 ¡Los funcionarios de la Asociación Nacional de Acordeón (NAA) anuncian con orgullo la Convención Nacional de Acordeón 2020!Para revisar el tiempo divertido que tuvieron en la convención de marzo de 2019, visite el sitio web recientemente actualizado y abra el menú desplegable Galería y encuesta de 2019. Encontrará los resultados de la 31ª convención anual y verá más de 250 fotos y videos. www.NationalAccordion.org ¡La "convocatoria anual para presentadores de convenciones" llegará pronto! | AperiPIF (conciertos de aperitivo) se llevará a cabo al mediodía cada día del Festival PIF (19 al 22 de septiembre) en el Auditorio Binci en Castelfidardo. Estos conciertos serán seguidos por comida y bebida. Este año, el AperiPIF tendrá el tema "Promesas" con cuatro presentaciones internacionales de acordeón clásico. El festival está profundamente involucrado en la promoción del instrumento y, como tal, establece una serie de colaboraciones con muchos festivales internacionales que albergan al ganador anual del PIF y, a su vez, envían a sus "campeones" al escenario del PIF. Los invitados del AperiPIF de este año serán: 19 de septiembre: Luka Silic (Serbia) - un estudiante muy joven de Vladimir Mandic (Conservatorio de Kragujevac, Serbia), ganador del concierto de premiación en colaboración con el "Festival Internacional de Artistas de Acordeón" patrocinado por el Ministerio de Cultura de Serbia y el Municipio Kragujevac. 20 de septiembre: Artem Malhasyan (Rusia) - estudiante de Vladimir Orlov (Conservatorio de San Petersburgo), ganador del concierto de premiación en colaboración con el festival "Accordéon-nous.org" (Mons, Bélgica) con la dirección de Olivier Douyez. 21 de septiembre: Bartosz Kolsut (Polonia) - estudiante de Mie Miki ("Folkwang Universitatder der K'nste", Essen, Alemania), ganador del concierto de premiación en colaboración con el festival "XXI Festival Internacional de Acordeón - Vilnius 2018" (Lituania ) con la dirección artística de Raimondas Sviackevicius. 22 de septiembre: Vladimir Stupnikov (Rusia) - estudiante de Alexander Dmitriev (Conservatorio de San Petersburgo), "Joven del año" con la victoria de la categoría Premio en PIF 2018; ha sido invitado a todos los festivales mencionados anteriormente y, de hecho, es considerado uno de los jóvenes asistentes de concierto más interesantes del mundo por el acordeón clásico.   Imagen arriba a la izquierda del competidor Josie Beach y su acordeón en globo.El Doubletree Hilton Hotel en Denver, Colorado, sirvió como sede del 79º Festival Anual ATG del 24 al 27 de julio. Asistieron invitados de muchos estados, el evento se inauguró con una noche de "Meet & Greet" con entretenimiento de Cory Pesaturo y el saxofonista de Denver Jeff Nathanson. Los asistentes disfrutaron de una buena variedad de aperitivos. Talleres, almuerzos con entretenimiento, banquetes, concursos, orquesta ATG (imagen superior), conjunto juvenil y conciertos nocturnos fueron los momentos más destacados del evento. El tema para el evento de este año fue "El año de los dúos", ya que muchos de los artistas eran dúos, incluidos los equipos de marido y mujer. Los artistas invitados especiales de Lituania, "Tutto a Dio" - Greta Staponkute (viola) y Augustinas Rakauskas (acordeón) fueron presentados en varios conciertos. El artista internacionalmente conocido, Cory Pesaturo, también realizó solos y "duetos improvisados" con Augustinas. Los artistas de Denver Dan y Kim Christian (equipo de marido y mujer) también fueron presentados. Los artistas locales, John y Madalynn Neu, se presentaron con la "Voz de los jugadores de cámara de madera", un conjunto de violines, viola y violonchelo de Denver. Todos disfrutaron de un concierto de música brasileña con artistas de Seattle, Gabe Hall-Rodrigues y Jamie Maschler (foto arriba a la derecha), "Creosote". Betty Jo Simon, artista conocida del área de Kansas City, también actuó. "Child’s Play", una pieza encargada por la Asociación Americana de Acordeonistas (AAA) fue interpretada por el compositor Joseph Natoli con Madalynn Neu, Ken Baert, Michael Marecak (violonchelo) y dirigida por Joan Sommers. El conjunto del presidente, con el presidente de ATG, Joseph Natoli, Kenn Baert, Amy Jo Sawyer, Liz Finch y Gail Campanella interpretaron un nuevo repertorio para el conjunto de acordeón. Es la tradición ATG para ofrecer un concierto de la tarde de "Música original para el acordeón". Un gran conjunto, dirigido por Joan Cochran Sommers, realizó varias selecciones originales. Los solistas que interpretaron música original fueron Donna Dee Ray (Fla), Beverley Fess (Canadá) y Gail Campanella (California), así como una interpretación a dúo de una pieza original, "Friendship", de Joe Natoli y Kenn Baert. La Orquesta ATG, bajo la dirección de Joan Cochran Sommers, siempre es una oportunidad especial para aprender y actuar bajo la batuta de Joan. Se llevaron a cabo concursos y se otorgaron trofeos a los participantes de Kansas, Indiana, Illinois, California, Minnesota y Denver. | Popular accordionist Brandon McPhee has a weekly TV program entitled the Brandon McPhee Hour. The show is broadcast on SPOTLIGHT TV (Formally Keep It Country TV), Sky 376 & Freesat 516 as well as streaming live on the internet. The show is a blend of music popular in the far North of Scotland, where Brandon visits many locations in the County of Caithness. Brandon is currently sitting at number 36 in the Top 200 Artists Charts compiled on radio airplay worldwide. The biggest names in country music feature in this chart. |

 The 40th Annual Minnesota Bluegrass Festival was held at El Rancho Mañana, Richmond, MN from August 8th to 11th.Over 4,000 people attended the event which has been nominated as the IBMA Event of the Year FIVE Times! The festival included hands-on workshops for people to bring their instruments and learn something new, a square dancing tent, evening dances, beginners jam, family area with talent shows, scavenger hunt, beginner workshops, group games and treasure hunts. Popular group Honky Tonk Jump, (which includes accordionist Dan Newton) entertained at the festival on the main stage, gave a workshop and also played at a swingin' dance under the biggest outdoor dance tent in Minnesota. |

 The above video shows accordionist Nerijus Bakula and Ineta Meduneckyte singing Lithuanian folk songs and playing games with children from the Hakodate kindergarten. The children are having lots of fun.“Folk Trio” from Lithuania visited Japan earlier this month to take part in the World Music Festival held in Hakodate, Hokkaido, Japan. The trio includes Nerijus Bakula (accordion), Ineta Meduneckyte (vocals) and Jan Maksimovic (saxophone). They play meaningful traditional Lithuanian folk songs with delicate improvisations of saxophone and accordion. |

  The accordion world has sadly lost two accordionists this week. A memorial service will be held for friends and family of Lynn Singleton Ewing (picture left) in 2 to 4 weeks. A family service is expected to be held this weekend. Lynn was the President of the San Francisco Accordion Club. UMKC accordion family member, Scott Gentry (picture right) from Kansas City passed away last weekend. Our condolences to the families of these two accordionists. |

 “Folk ‘n’ Detail” will be held at Løgumkloster University, Brorsonsvej 2, in Løgumkloster, Denmark from August 18th to 22nd. Accordionist Karen Tweed will join an international team, teaching students ideas for composing, focusing on "fantastic phrases & marvellous melodies". The course Director is musician, composer, arranger and performer Kristine Heebøll.Karen’s workshop will include information on composition, working firstly with a strong melody and pleasant harmony, combined with the use of the accordion to explore this. If players can read music and need more prescriptive scoring; Karen will discuss how to go about providing that so they sound fantastic as players and in turn that will help them make music sound the best it can. Fun / joy is a big element of Karen’s music writing, as is visual imagery. During the event, Karen will give informal performances for the participants.  The ‘British Button Box’ workshop weekend takes place from August 30th to September 1st at The Church Barn, Bishop’s Castle, Shropshire SY9 5AF. The tutor is John Kirkpatrick, and the course is intended for players of the 3-row diatonic BCC# tuned British chromatic accordion. John will be starting out from his very firm base in traditional English folk music, so the repertoire will be quite different from the Scottish country dance style made famous by Jimmy Shand and his many followers. This weekend is also very instrument specific, and will not be suitable for players of the two-row Irish style of accordion, nor the G/D melodeon, nor the piano accordion. As well as covering the expected fields of Morris tunes, country dance tunes, and folk songs, John will also be looking at the complexities of playing in all the keys available on this gloriously compact instrument, and exploring swathes of repertoire that may not be immediately associated with the poor old push-pull squeeze-box! Whether you've been playing five minutes or fifty years, this is a great opportunity to come and learn at the feet of one of England's most dedicated and respected folk musicians. | Lemon Bucket Orkestra Live at Sunfest 2017 The Lemon Bucket Orkestra will entertain at two Jazz Festivals in Canada next month. The orchestra includes accordionist Marichka Marczyk along with guitar, drums, saxophone, trumpet, violin, trombone, darbouka and vocals. Over the past 8 years they have performed all over the world from WOMAD in New Zealand and Pohoda in Slovakia, to Festival D’Été in Québec City, and Luminato in Toronto. On September 12th they will perform at the Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival in Fredericton, Canada.  Accordion Orchestras will be entertaining at a concert series held at the Guildford Bandstand in the beautiful Castle grounds in Guildford, Surrey, England. The grounds have some beautifully maintained gardens and stunning flower displays for visitors to enjoy. On September 8th, the Crawley Accordion Orchestra (picture above) will be playing from 2pm until 4pm. Their repertoire includes a wide variety of music, from popular easy listening tunes to the classics, including waltzes, tangos, marches & song medleys from shows. This will be followed by a performance on September 29th by the Tillingbourne Accordion Orchestra (picture left) from 2pm until 4pm. They will entertain with a varied programme of classical and modern music to please everyone. Everyone is welcome to come along and support these orchestras and enjoy a relaxing afternoon.
