  El presidente de la CIA Mirco Patarini escribió: "Estoy encantado de dar la bienvenida a concursantes de muchas partes del mundo para participar en la 71° edición de la Coupe Mondiale en Kaunas, Lituania, del 24 al 30 de septiembre. Hay aprox. 90 concursantes y 66 delegados internacionales registrados de 25 naciones diferentes y todos los asistentes podrán escuchar presentaciones de la competencia del más alto nivel". La ciudad de Kaunas con el Sindicato Nacional de Acordeonistas de Lituania, el presidente Kazys Stonkus, el vicepresidente Mindaugas Labanauskas, están preparando un evento sobresaliente. El Presidente Patarini añadió: "Durante la Coupe Mondiale 2018, también habrá emocionantes conciertos, la "The World Accordion Orchestra X" y los delegados de la CIA celebrarán su 140ª Asamblea General en la que se debatirán diversos negocios internacionales, incluida la elección de muchos oficiales de la CIA.   El Ayuntamiento de Castelfidardo (región de Marche, Italia), en colaboración con la Asociación de Turismo Pro Loco de Castelfidardo, convoca y organiza el Concurso Internacional de PIF "Città di Castelfidardo" reservado para solistas de acordeón y grupos de música clásica y otros géneros. La administración municipal de Castelfidardo está dirigida por el alcalde Roberto Ascani, el Castelfidardo Pro Loco dirigido por Ruben Cittadini y el director artístico del evento, Renzo Ruggieri. El evento tendrá lugar en Castelfidardo (AN, región de Las Marcas) desde septiembre de 2018, del 9 al 16 y estará abierto para todos los acordeonistas. La recientemente formada "Asociación de Acordeonistas de Perú" recibió el 25 de agosto con gran entusiasmo en su primer concierto internacional, al acordeonista Mirco Patarini, quien también es Presidente de la CIA (Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes). El evento presenta la nueva asociación nacional de acordeón más un concierto con grupos étnicos locales y una clase magistral, organizada con la colaboración de las autoridades locales, incluida la Ministra de Cultura Patricia Balbuena, el presidente de la mencionada asociación Alfonso Maslucan y Marisol Espinoza Cruz, congresista y una figura política importante en Perú. El concierto tuvo lugar en Lima en el gran Teatro del Centro Cultural de San Isidro y se agotó. Mirco Patarini cautivó al público con su interpretación de diferentes estilos musicales en consonancia con el objetivo de promover el arte, la cultura, la música y la tradición del acordeón, tanto en el género popular como en el repertorio de conciertos. Durante los discursos al final, Mirco Patarini invitó a la nueva asociación "a solicitar la membresía de la CIA con la esperanza de tener competidores peruanos en la futura Coupe Mondiales, la competencia de acordeón internacional más antigua e importante". Mirco Patarini tuvo el honor de recibir del Congreso de la República Perú un certificado de "Reconocimiento a Mirco Patarini por su valioso y constante apoyo en la promoción y difusión de la cultura y el acordeón peruanos". El certificado fue firmado por Daniel Enrique Salaverry Villa (presidente del Congreso de la República) y la congresista Marisol Espinoza Cruz, quien también entregó el prestigioso certificado a Mirco Patarini. También asistió el propietario de aerolíneas de LATAM, el Embajador de Santo Domingo, el Presidente de la Comisión de Cultura del gobierno y muchas otras personas importantes del Perú. |

 The 71st International CIA Coupe Mondiale, 24 – 30 September, 2018 is in Kaunas, Lithuania, hosted by the CIA member, Lithuanian National Accordionist's Union.All are welcomed to this exciting international accordion event and accordionists are invited to perform in the CIA "World Accordion Orchestra X" on Sunday 30th September in a concert with other fine accordion orchestras. The World Accordion Orchestra X under the direction of Prof. Joan Sommers will perform three works: 1. Serenata by Leroy Anderson 2. Recuerdos by Amy Jo Sawyer 3. West Side Story - the CIA joins the global centennial celebration in honor of Leonard Bernstein's 100th annivesary.  In pdf format sent to you by email.The Lilliput series by Ivano Battiston is not an accordion method but a collection of small musical forms, divided into five volumes, inspired by the Mikrokosmos by Béla Bartók and composed with the following didactic intents: - offer musical material - to the accordionist with a single note instrument - from the very first lessons up to the thresholds of a medium level preparation (fifth year of study); - bring the scholar closer to most musical forms and to a heterogeneous sound world; - lead the young accordionist towards a gradual exploration of the instrument, through an active participation in the problems of musical interpretation; - increase instrumental skills through learning based on the increase in the number of sounds; - introduce the scholar to the orchestral dimension of the accordion, also creating compositions inspired by the characteristics of the other musical instruments. The pieces can be played with any type of instrument provided with single notes. Volumes II and III of Lilliput! are required for the accordion admission exam in Italian music high schools (Licei musicali).  I became the AAA Historian six months before the association’s 70th anniversary in 2008. It came as a shock to me when I was told that there had never been an official historian prior to myself and that there were no files, no organized photographs, no documents – nothing that was readily accessible to me. I had to start from scratch. I was totally determined to come up with a reasonable 70 year presentation for the July festival, so I turned to my wonderful mentor, Faithe Deffner. “I will help you”, said Faithe, and she certainly did!  ‘60 at Sixty’ is a new release from Sean Wilson. During nearly thirty years of recording and performing, the Irish accordion player and singer has accumulated a huge repertoire of songs. On this new three disc project he combines 6 new songs, 14 of his most memorable recordings, 20 songs that are not released on CD and a newly created DVD: ‘You Can't Turn Back The Years’. The DVD describes Sean's earliest days growing up around Lough Neagh in County Derry and his improbable but richly earned successes. He goes on to describe the highs and lows of his career and features his best performances on video. After nearly three decades entertaining global audiences, this release is the first time Sean features a compilation of his most popular songs and will be a great introduction to those who don't know his work so well.Sean Wilson, from Derry in Northern Ireland, began playing the accordion as a young boy when his father bought him an instrument. He joined a local ceili band, played at dances, then one night was prompted to sing a song, leading Sean to do more singing. This eventually led to a record deal, and over the years his prolific CD and DVD sales have been huge throughout Ireland, the UK, Australia and New Zealand. | The 11th Annual Noir Festival returns to East Vancouver September 14 – 16, 2018 at the Wise Hall. They have a full slate of talent lined up including singer and author Geoff Berner who is also billed as the patron Saint of the Accordion Noir movement. Geoff has participated in many of the festivals and is determined to show an entire generation of accordion punks that another, less bubbly, world is possible. Also taking part in the festival is legendary busker-king Jason Webley returning to the festival after a long absence who will be spinning yarns like a Russian sailor we hear. Also performing is Emchy who is inspired by 1920s cabaret music, murder ballads and Leonard Cohen. Saturday’s festivities include a Polka Party, so come on down and kick up your heels and dance. The festival kicks off Friday evening at 8:00 pm. Admission is $20. Advance tickets for Saturday’s dance party available through Brown Paper Tickets. |

 Scottish accordionist and singer Ronnie Ross entertains at Armstrong's Social Club, Grovehill Road, Beverley HU17 0ED, near Hull, on Saturday September 15th and Sunday 16th. On Saturday evening Ronnie Ross plays for ballroom and sequence dancing, and on Sunday afternoon performs a concert of Country, Scottish and East Listening music.Ronnie Ross, from Inverness in the Scottish Highlands, comes from a musical family. A self-taught accordionist, he is a resident entertainer in several hotels, and also owns a recording studio. He has recorded several CDs and DVDs, the most recent being a CD of Scottish accordion music, ‘Scottish Accordion Gems’. |

| The trio Kosmos concerts perform in concert on Saturday 15th, 7.30pm, at the Curry Rivel Music Club, St Andrew's Church, The Green, Curry Rivel, near Langport, Somerset. Kosmos are Harriet Mackenzie – violin, Meg Hamilton – viola, and Miloš Milivojevic – accordion. Serbian-born Miloš Milivojevic is a first prize winner at international competitions in Germany, France, Italy and Denmark. In Serbia he studied with Vojin Vasovic, and with Owen Murray at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where he graduated and was awarded with Dip RAM. In 2007 he became the first accordionist ever to win the RAM Club Prize at the Academy and in the 2008 was the Winner of the prestigious Derek Butler London Prize at the Wigmore Hall, London.
