The Klingenthal International Accordion Competition has a tradition of having all the judges join the judging panel for the Concerto section. This year the event had to be held in the Turnhalle Gymnasium Klingenthal as the normal concert hall is being renovated. Seated at the tables are the judges of one side of the hall.

The work required for the Concerto section is composed by Mikolai Majkusiak and titled Concerto Classico for Accordion and Orchestra.

First to perform Concerto Classico for Accordion and Orchestra was Sergej Kotkov of Russia. This work was
a very good choice, not too long, melodic, with good audience appeal. The audience clearly enjoyed the performances.


Second performer was Wolodimir Oliynik of the Ukraine.

Third performer was Vladislav Pligovka of Belarussia.

Fourth performer was Anastasija Shkindzerava of Russia.

The Prize Giving began with the Trio Con Abbandono of Germany, Category VA 1st place, when the accordionist and clarinetist walked down the hall playing. A very effective concert opening.
Category II accordion soloists up to 15 years old, (date of birth 4th of May 1992 onward) presentation. Left, 1. Milos Avramovic, Serbia; middle 2. Daniel Kuehn, Germany; right 3. Bartosz Glowacki, Poland.

Category III accordion soloists up to 18 years old, (date of birth 4th of May 1989 onward) presentation. 1. Xianonan Xu, China; (right) 2. Nikola Tanaskovic, Serbia; (left) 3. Klawduja Tarabina, Russia (middle). On the right is the Mayor of Neuenrade City Mr Sasse. Neuenrade is also a sister city of Klingenthal who made the presentation.

Category VB instrumental with up to five musicians, different instruments at free option, including one accordion or bandonion. First prize was to the Quartett "Phoenix" of Russia.

Category VI soloists playing virtuosic light music (no age limit), first place Felicien Brut of France. 2nd Julien Gonzales, France and 34d Phil Bouvier, France.
Category VII for bandonion soloists (no age limit) with first place going to Michael Zisman, Switzerland, second Matias Chiappe Gonzales, Argentina and 3rd Claudio Constantini, Peru.
The Burgermeister (Mayor) of Klingenthal Reiner Schneidenbach then gave a speech officially closing the 44th Klingenthal International Accordion Championships.
