XII Moscow International Competition for Young Musicians "Magic Lyre", Moscow - Russia

ML logoThe XII Moscow International Competition for Young Musicians "Magic Lyre" will be held in Moscow from February 14th to March 27th, 2022. The event will include an open show of solo and ensemble musical performances within the framework of the Moscow City Comprehensive Targeted Youth Education Program "The Children of Moscow Sing".

There are accordion solo classes for all ages and the Ensembles category includes from 2 to 18 participants of all ages.

Ville HiltulaFinnish bandoneon player and tango musician Ville Hiltula (picture left) will perform with his quartet “Locura Tanguera” at the 2021 Osaka Tango Festival held in Osaka, Japan on December 11th, 2021.

The quartet includes Ville Hiltula (bandoneon), Kazuhiro Takagi (violin), Tomomitsu Fumoto (piano) and Masashi Goto (contrabass).

History of AAA Music Commissions by Prof. Robert McMahan - USA

Prof. Robert McMahanDr. Robert Young McMahan, Chair of the American Accordionists' Association (AAA) Composers’ Commission Committee (picture left) has written a number of very interesting articles on the contemporary concert works for accordion that have been commissioned by the AAA over the years.

Robert McMahan is the recently retired Professor of Music at The College of New Jersey and was also the Area Coordinator of Musicianship and Composition, as well as artist-teacher of classical accordion.
