Shanghai Miaoke Information Technology Company is a leading and innovative internet company in the online music education industry. VIP Practice, an internet application which is deeply committed to tackle problems for students who study musical instruments, is one of its products.

Since 2014, the company has been leading with its combintation of the internet and music education mode. The online music partner training mode has gained a lot of parents’ attention and the business is rapidly growing. Currently, VIP Practice employees 500 professional employees and 5,000 professional teachers for piano, violin, accordion, and zither. More than 30,000 students from over 33 countries have become VIP Practice’s paying subscribers. Over 10,000 tutoring classes are arranged online every day.
 
The new company began with three entrepreneurs, all accordionists from the Shanghai Normal University taught by Professor Li Cong and Association Professor Crystal Wang.  Within six months it had grown to approximately 50 people.  With more than 200% annual growth, the company has grown rapidly and now employs some 500 staff in product development, research, tutor training and production, occupying a five floor office building near the heart of Shanghai.

Students desiring tutor sessions pay for 100 session packages.  Utilizing the online App, they go on to choose their tutor based on their online profile and also schedule their practice/tutor sessions. Tutor sessions are approximately 10 US Dollars for 50 minutes with the average student taking two tutor sessions weekly, and often more closer to examination and concert performances.
 
The App, launched in 2014, allows tutors to assist young students outside of their normal private lessons, by monitoring elements of their daily practice such as accuracy, tempo and dynamics etc.. The tutor monitors the student via live feed and the interactive music displayed on an e-reader shows real time updates between the tutor and the student as the tutor is marking such details as an accidental or other areas to be addressed.  Real-time updates are provided to the parents who can then monitor practice between tutor sessions and regular lessons. 

Tutors, many having been recruited through Universities, go through an intensive 6-8 week training period followed by a placement examination.  Approxiately 10% of applicants go on to earn the tutoring position.
