de Gala para celebrar el 70 aniversario de la CIA, Castelo Branco

Confederación
Internacional de Acordeonistas (CIA) celebrará su 70 aniversario
con un banquete de gala que tendrá lugar junto con el Concurso
Mundial de acordeón Coupe Mondiale en su 58 Edición
en Castelo Branco, Portugal del 25 al 30 de Octubre. Esta celebración
se llevará a cabo en el Conservatorio Regional de Castelo Branco,
miembro de la CIA y sede de la Coupe Mondiale 2005.
El banquete
de gala tendrá lugar el martes 25 de octubre de 17,00 a 19,00
horas y será una gran oportunidad de reflejar las actividades
y la historia de la CIA así como mirar hacia delante, hacia
nuevos acontecimientos futuros. La directiva de la CIA se complace
en invitar a los miembros de la CIA, todos los Campeones de la CIA,
Ganadores de premios al mérito, miembros del jurado Internacional,
delegados Internacionales, Artistas, Prensa internacional así
como sus acompañantes.

 Los
acordeonistas Yuri Shishkin y Yuri
Medianik están planeando una gira por Rusia en febrero
de 2006, siendo la primera vez que toquen juntos. Actuarán
junto a varias orquesta de cámara.
La primera parte de sus conciertos presentarán a Yuri Medianik
como violinista interpretando el Concierto para violín, órgano
y cuerdas de Vivaldi con Yuri Shishkin tocando la parte de órgano
al acordeón.
Tras esto, los dos interpretarán el Concierto para órgano
de Poulenc transcrito para dos acordeones por Yuri Shishkin. Ofreceremos
más detalles de estos conciertos próximamente.

Intento de Record del Mundo Guinness , Newfoundland- Canadá

El 29 Festival
de Folk Newfoundland y Labrador, celebrado en el parque Bannerman
en la ciuda de St John del 5 al 7 de Agosto será el escenario
para un nuevo intento de record en número de acordeonistas
tocando juntos. El 7 de Julio, Kimberly BC estableció un
nuevo record con 644 intérpretes, superando así el
establecido en el Festival de Países Bajos del 2000. El último
intento tendrá lugar el Sábado 6 de Agosto a las 16,30
horas y el Libro Guinness de los Records verificará el resultado.
El presidente
del consejo artístico folk jean Hewson así lo espera.
"Cuando surgió la idea de intentar un record por primera
vez, contacté con la tienda de música de O´Brien
para ver cuántos acordeonistas creía él que
había en el area de St. John. Cientos? Pregunté. El
dijo, " por supuesto, a lo mejor miles". Fue lo que necesitaba
oir para decir "vamos a intentarlo""
Dave
Penny, miembro del consejo de directores de St John, será
el director de los acordeonistas, y ha realizado un arreglo para
que toquen todos juntos. Los
acordeonistas de Newfoundland ayudarán con el acontecimiento
y muchos de ellos están deseando ofrecer sus actuaciones
en el festival.

Väyrynen Performs at Famous Summer Festivals - Finland

accordionist Mika Väyrynen was featured at several of the most
famous summer music festivals during the month of July. Mika
appeared at the 'Sonkajärvi Soi' festival in Finland, performing
'Four Tango Sensations' and 'Hommage a Liege - Concerto for Bandoneon,
Guitar and Strings', by Piazzolla. His fellow musicians included
Mr Ismo Eskelinen (Guitar), Meta4 - String Quartet and Mrs Tarja
Nyberg on Double Bass. At his second concert, he premiered his new
transcription of 'Chaconne', by J. S. Bach. Mika was later joined
by cellist Jan-Erik Gustafsson to play 'Le Grand Tango', by Piazzolla
and 'Roumanian Dances', by Bartok.
Mika
also appeared at the 'Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival', which marked
the first time an accordionist has been invited to perform a solo
recital at this world famous festival. He presented 'Chaconne',
'Organ Prelude and Fuga in D-Major', and 'Three Chorals', by J.
S. Bach, as well as the Finnish Premiere of 'Tree of Life', by Patrick
Busseuil, and 'Like a Water Buffalo', by Yuji Takahashi.
At his second concert at the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival, Mika
premiered 'Chamber Concerto for Accordion and String Quintet', by
Mr Paavo Korpijaakko. An extremely important event, this chamber
concerto is only piece that the Kuhmo Chamber Music Festival commissioned
this year! Mika also performed on the final concert on bandoneon,
playing 'Bagatelles', by Dvorak with string trio.
He finished
his summer festival performances at the 'Savonlinna Opera Festival'
with a concert that celebrated the 70th birthday of Professor Aulis
Sallinen. Mika performed Sallinen's 'Chamber Music 5 - Barabbas
Variations', with String Quintet.

Jazz
Accordion Festival, Pineto - Italy

The
2005 Pineto
Jazz Accordion Festival was a success beyond expectations. The
festival's events and concerts drew local and national television
presence, plus daily newspaper coverage. This festival was an excellent
showcase for the accordion in the field of jazz, with some outstanding
performances.
 A
concert by Renzo
Ruggieri, on July 15th, with the famous guitar player Patruno
Linen ended in a standing ovation. The performance of Art Van Damme,
July 16th, with his famous quintet, generated strong interest within
the Italian jazz world, with many well-known musicians being present
at this special event.
The final concert of the Big Band of Foggia, with Peppino Principe,
on July 17th, entertained a crowd of more than 1,000 persons. The
Marching Band, featuring an accordionist, paraded near the seaside
of the beautiful Italian city.
 The
special award 'Golden Sail 2005' was presented to the well-known
accordion teacher Vittorio Pomante. Thanks were given for the great
support of the council member Filippo D' Augustin and the Mayor
Filippo Monticello.
Renzo Ruggieri (Artistic Director) and Peppino
Principe (Honorary President), who have strongly supported the
initiative, announced that plans for the next festival are already
in preparation.

and Compton at Uxbridge Accordion Club, England - UK

Emblow and Tony Compton are the guests at Uxbridge Accordion Club,
Middlesex, on August 8th, at 8pm. Also performing will be The Uxbridge
Accordion Band, MD Angie Lukins.
The venue is The Angler's Retreat, Swan Road, West Drayton, near Junction
4 on the M4. Members and visitors are asked to bring along their accordions
to join in with the club's traditional 'Accordion Play Along'.

Väyrynen Guest Stars with the Tallin Chamber Orchestra -

Finnish
accordionist Mika
Väyrynen will be the guest soloist in Estonia on August 8th
and 9th, when he performs with the 'Tallinn Chamber Orchestra'. Peforming
Aulis Sallinen's 'Chamber Music 5 - Barabbas Variations', the orchestra
is under the direction of Tonu Kaljuste.
The Tallinn
Chamber Orchestra has performed in many prestigious music festivals:
Bach Cantatas Festival in Milan (1996, 1997), Bremen Music Festival
(1998) and the Huddersfield Festival of Contemporary Music (1998).
Their concert tours have taken them to Canada, USA, Japan and to many
European countries.

5th International
Golden Accordion Competition, Benevento - Italy

 Thanks
to the large number of entries last year from Italy, Russia, Greece,
France, Austria, Poland, Serbia and the USA, this year's festival
is expected to include several international categories.
These include: Under 13 years old (Student), as well as the Junior
(up to 16 years) and Senior (over 16 years), a section for Jazz accordion,
and the institution of a prize devoted the best interpretation of
compositions (or arrangements) of Peppino Principe; all categories
have prizes of notable value.
In addition to the Classical and Jazz sections, this year is added
a section for compositions in Variété (virtuoso entertainment)
style. The best prize is the 'Fisarmonca d'Oro' (an artistic trophy
with a substantial prize) assigned to the candidate (or group) that
have distinguished themselves amongst all the categories. There is
no entrance fee for any category, and there are no test pieces.
The festival this year widens to involve collaborations with other
competitions in Canada and Australia, with a strong cultural exchange
among the respective events. The Competition will take place in Benevento
(Italy) on July 16th and on 17th September.

85 años. Aunque el siempre será recordado por su larga
asociación con Lawrence Welk, y los programas de televisión
de Welk, Myron Floren fue un acordeonista que actuó para
