Re-Issue of Classic Bobby MacLeod Recordings,
Scotland – UK
Contributed
by Rob
Howard
A number of classic recordings of Scottish dance music made in the
1940s and 50s by Bobby MacLeod, from the Isle of Mull, have been
digitally remastered and issued on two CDs, titled ‘Bobby
MacLeod – Vintage 78s’, Volumes I and 2. Some of the
tracks on Volume 2 are previously unissued private recordings made
at informal late night playing sessions.
Bobby
MacLeod played the bagpipes before taking up the accordion, and
this is evident in his style of performing Scottish music. He played
and recorded with both piano accordion and 5-row Continental chromatic
button accordion, and his style and sound is regarded as hugely
influential in the development of Scottish dance music playing since
the late 1940s.

orchestra. Ivano says:
"In recent years, I have had the fortune
to often play with David Bellugi, a wonderful flute virtuoso and
a very good friend. Unfortunately, we do not often perform together,
so we had the idea to collaborate and compose this double concerto
with string orchestra to enjoy more concerts together.”
