58° Coupe Mondiale, Castelo Branco - Portogallo Di Kevin Friedrich, USA La Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) ha celebrato il 4 Novembre, il 70° compleanno, la 114° Assemblea Generale dei Delegati ed il 58° Couple Mondial in Castelo Branco, Portogallo. La manifestazione è stata organizzata dal sig. Carlos Semedo membro CIA ed ospitata dal Conservatório Regional de Castelo Branco. I concorrenti che hanno partecipato provenivano da varie parti del mondo come Australia, Nuova Zelanda, Russia, Scandinavia e tanti paesi dell' Europa. Il 5° giorno del Festival è iniziato con un banchetto gala nel quale sono stati onorati alcuni ospiti. Si sono esibiti artisti come: Gonçalo Pescada e Natália Ryabova, il campione 2004 del Coupe Mondiale CIA sig. Alexander Selivanov dalla Russia, il vincitore 2002 del CIA Virtuoso Entertainment dal Portogallo João Frade con il suo Trio. Il brano d'obbligo di questo anno era un nuovo lavoro del compositore Portoghese Carlos Marecos dal titolo 'O Medo Do Ritmo'. Oltre ai diplomi e premi sono stati offerti 3 premi speciali 2 dei quali offrono la possibilità di fare 2 tour di concerti. Un tour in Nuova Zelanda ed Australia offerto dalla New Zealand Accordion Association; ed un tour in Slovacchia, Ungheria, Repubblica Ceca offerto dal Methodical Centre of Accordion 'Marta Szokeová' (MCA) ed infine la produzione di un CD offerto dalla Intermusik. Il vincitore di tutti questi premi è stato il primo classificato della International Competition per Piano Accordion, il sig. Alexander Shirunov. Durante la cerimonia finale il vice Presidente onorario del 2005 ha eseguito 2 delle sue composizioni: performing 'Improvisata' con l'orchestra di fiati Esart Ensemble, diretta da Cesario Costa ed il popolare gruppo "Lusotango". Il vincitore del Coupe Mondial 2005 è stato Rade Miljatovic, dalla Serbia / Montenegro, studente di Miljan Bjeletic. Rade ha vinto anche la categoria Junior del Coupe Mondiale. Clamoroso successo delle fisarmoniche italiane a Shanghai Di Holda Paoletti-Kampl Un clamoroso successo di immagine ha ottenuto la partecipazione di alcune aziende italiane del settore alla Music China di Shanghai sostenute dall'organizzazione di Ancona Promuove (azienda speciale della Camera di Commercio di Ancona) dalla Regione Marche e dall'ICE. Oltre 50.000 mq di esposizione, 900 aziende presenti, 40.000 visitatori, un mercato in crescita del 15% annuo rappresenta il biglietto da visita della Music China alla quale le aziende marchigiane danno un contributo di qualità e tecnologia d'avanguardia. Fisarmoniche, sax ed accessori rappresentano al meglio il distretto degli strumenti musicali localizzato tra le province di Ancona e Macerata che nei primi sei mesi del 2005, per le sole fisarmoniche, ha incrementato il proprio export dell'11%. Come evento collaterale gli Enti citati hanno organizzato un concerto, tenuto dall'Orchestra Internazionale d'Italia diretta da Antonio Cipriani, al quale hanno assistito 1500 persone, a teatro esaurito, le quali hanno tributato un'autentica ovazione non solo all'intera orchestra, ma in special modo ai solisti di fisarmonica, sax e bandoneon: Pascal Contet, Fulvio Falleri, Peter Soave e Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi. Gli stessi artisti hanno tenuto nei giorni successivi applaudite lezioni presso il grande Conservatorio della stessa Shanghai. Al Concerto, oltre al Console Italiano, al direttore dell'ICE Maurizio Forte, all'addetto culturale del Consolato dott.ssa Barbieri, ha assistitoli Sindaco di Shanghai amante della musica italiana ed in particolare della fisarmonica: intrattenendosi con la delegazione italiana composta dal dr. Franco Francalancia e Paola Bellabona (Regione Marche) e da Antonio Agostinelli e Beniamino Bugiolacchi (Ancona Promuove) il sindaco si è congratulato per l'evento ed ha auspicato più stretti ed ampi rapporti di collaborazione con la nostra Regione. In conclusione ancora una volta l'imprenditoria marchigiana (nello stand Ancona Promuove erano presenti le aziende Ballone Burini/Bugari Armando/Nello Mengascini/Pigini/Cagnoni, Voci/Orfeo Borgani ed autonomamente in fiera Polverini Fratelli e GVG), supportata da Enti locali e dalle antiche radici delle proprie tradizioni culturali ed artistiche, ha raggiunto l'obbiettivo di coniugare lo sviluppo economico-commerciale del proprio bussnes con la valorizzazione della way of line marchigiana.

Jon Hammond ospite su CNN Guest Anchorman, San Francisco - USA Di Holda Paoletti-Kampl Il fisarmonicista ed organista Jon Hammond è stato ospite alla CNN durante una grande manifestazione nel San Francisco Golden Gate Park al Speedway Meadows in una funzione in memoria di Chet Helms. E' stato il promotore rock portando Janis Joplin in San Francisco durante gli anni 1960. Inoltre ha presentato ed organizzato, durante gli ultimi anni, centinaia di spettacoli con grandi gruppi come Quicksilver Messenger Service, Blue Cheer, Cold Blood, Dan Hicks & the Hotlicks, Charlatans, Sons of Champlin, Moby Grape, Country Joe and the Fish, Jefferson Airplane e tanti altri. Quartet Concert with Accordion at Biarritz Forum, Bogota - Columbia Contributed by Rob Howard The 6th International Forum of Biarritz, Bogota, celebrated in October, was attended by mayors of various European cities, among them that of the French city of Biarritz. The Quartet New World, whose members are Felipe Liano (flute), Francisco Rivera (clarinet), Ever Barbosa (Bassoon), and the Colombian accordionist Lácides Romero, offered a Concert of Welcome for the 300 guests at the forum, in a formal dinner, offered by the Mayor of Bogota, Luis Waiter, in the National Museum. The Quartet performed Swedish, French, Cuban and Colombian music.

Orkestar Bez Ime (OBI), meaning "orchestra without a name" in Bulgarian, has grown to be the Midwest's most popular international dance bands, specializing in Balkan and eastern European dance music. Gus Viseur Special Tribute Concert, Paris - France Contributed by Rob Howard A special musette and jazz accordion tribute concert to the memory of Gus Viseur takes place on November 7th, 9pm, at The Archipelago, 17 boulevard Strasbourg, 75010 Paris. Musicians participating in the concert include Marcel Azzola (accordion), Daniel Colin (accordion, bandoneon), Jean Corti (accordion), Dominique Cravic (vocals, guitar), Armand Lassagne (accordion) and Jean-Philippe Viret (double-bass). The occasion marks the re-issue of the classic recording 'Gus Viseur à Bruxelles' on CD. Gus Viseur (1916-1974) was one of the musette players most closely associated with jazz guitarists such as Django Reinhardt and the brothers Matio, Baro and Challain Ferret. Viseur's jazz and swing style of musette anticipated the later development of jazz on the accordion. For some years, in the late 1930s and early 40s, Viseur accompanied Edith Piaf on stage and on records, including her first recording of L'Accordeonist. The compositions of Gus Viseur include Soir de Dispute, Flambée Montalbanaise, Matelotte, Jeannette and Swing Valse.

Fintan Stanley Concerts, Maine - USA Contributed by Rob Howard Boston-based Irish accordionist Fintan Stanley appears in concert at Cape Cod Irish Village, 512 Main Street, West Yarmouth, on November 11th and 12th, and also on December 30th and 31st. Born in County Louth in 1941, in 1955 Fintan Stanley was the first player to become an All-Ireland Champion using a Continental button accordion. He immigrated to the USA in the 1970s, and has since performed in many European countries and Australia.

Lisa-Lee Leslie Concert, Stockport - UK Contributed by Rob Howard On November 22nd, Lisa-Lee Leslie is the Club Night guest at Stockport Accordion Club. Lisa plays the Continental button accordion, and uses two instruments - straight and musette tuned. The concert begins at 8pm, and the venue is the St John Ambulance Brigade HQ, Edgeley Road, Cheadle Heath, Stockport, close to Junctions 1 or 2 on the M60.
