Rosemary Wright Concert, Stockport – UK
Contributed by Rob Howard

Stockport Accordion Club’s May Club Night concert featured Rosemary Wright as guest artiste. Rosemary was on top form, performing a program of classical transcriptions and accordion favourites. Her first half program included ‘Prologue from ‘I Pagliacci’’, ‘Ballade in C Minor’, ‘Ritual Fire Dance’, ‘Meditation from Thais’, Chopin’s ‘Grand Valse Brilliante’, ‘Festa Rusticana’ (Gerald Crossman), ‘Serenade from ‘Les Millions D’Arlequin’’, and ‘The Barber of Seville Overture’ (Rossini).

In the second half, Rosemary played ‘Accordion Theme’, ‘Ballade Pour Adeline’, ‘Globetrotting’, ‘Fungii Mama’, ‘Divertimento For Accordion’ (Gorni Kramer), ‘Gabriel’s Oboe from ‘The Mission’’, ‘Spanish Gypsy Dance’ and Monti’s ‘Czardas’. North Sea Jazz Festival, The Hague – Netherlands
Contributed by Rob Howard

The bendy-bus is very cleverly made into a moving advertisement for the North Sea Jazz Festival. Really nice art work and the bellows of the bus move like the accordion bellows as it goes around corners and up and down hills. A tremendous promotional idea for accordion events being held in any city that has bendy-buses.

The North Sea Jazz Festival takes place in The Hague from July 8th to 10th. French accordionist Richard Galliano will perform with his trio, and also with singer Cristino Branco. Also appearing are the Bucovina Orkester, featuring Lothar Lesser on accordion, and the AnourBrahem Trio, featuring accordionist Jean Louis Matinier.
