Finally the programme of Gandolfi should be noted - as well as
the recent and interesting Fugazza piece Dialoghi senza tempo
for accordion and pianoforte - the beautiful melody by the much
loved and missed composer Armando Gentilucci: a short piece to
a "voice" without "accompaniment" dedicated
to the same Gandolfi (who "replies" to his friend with
his Dialogo).
It is really true that the quality of music is not judged by the
quantity of notes used by Donadelli and in fact, he seems to find
himself at ease in the clasical pieces - original or transcribed
- as opposed to the "variété" pieces,
displaying without doubt a good technique and interpretation of
the pieces selected for his program.
It is pleasing to listen to the Piazolla concert Aconcagua (adapted
for accordion and piano by M. Ferrarini) that does not detract
from the original orchestral version. The praiseworthy propostion
is - as Paolo Gandolfi writes in the booklet of the CD - to want
to present a sort of dialog between two generations, the young
and promising Daniele Donadelli as a support to a moment of encouragement
for the future prospects of the ex student.
This CD is an
anthology that adequately demonstrates the various aspects of
the accordion, firstly from the point of view as a solo or ensemble
instrument (with Fugazza and Piazolla) and then from the aspect
of transcription (Mozart and Piazolla again) and that of original
works.
In the end the various styles offered, range from the classical
(Mozart) to contemporary (with amongst others, Gentilucci) passing
through traditional accordion repetiore (Brehme and Fugazza),
French "variété" (Astier and Lesueur)
...finally coming to Piazzolla where popular music, jazz, classical
and contemporary, all co- exist with remarkable synergy.
