ethnic music on 1- and 2-row accordions.

Considered one of the greatest of his generation,
positioned between the classical accordion and musette, Alain
Musichini and his Quartet bring us different sound palettes
of the accordion with a repertoire ranging from gypsy jazz
to French chanson through to the great American standards.
The Quartet comprises Alain
Musichini: accordion, Thomas Fontvieille: guitar, Jean-Pierre
Barreda: bass and Michael Santanastasio: drums.
Alain was born on July 8, 1962 in Avignon. He started music
at the conservatory and took his first class accordion at
age 7 years. He made his French Ball Musette at the age of
10 years. Demonstrating outstanding musical arrangements quickly,
at the age of 15 years, he devoted himself entirely to music
to prepare and successfully contested the biggest national
and international competitions, including the prestigious
CIA Coupe Mondiale World Accordion Championships title in
August 1981 held in Kansas City (USA) where he played the
famous Toccata and Fugue in D minor by JS Bach. On his return,
he was honored to receive from the French leader François
Mitterrand, a cable dated Sept. 2, 1981 saying: "I want
to congratulate you on your success at the Coupe Mondiale
of accordion having won with the most popular classical French
instrument."
Musichini quickly became sought after, and is considered by
many as a leader of the younger generation of accordionists.
He travels all over France, Europe, USA giving classical music
concerts as a soloist in churches. He also plays Swing with
his jazz quartet in clubs, he plays the waltz musette attraction
in the big dance nights, and he conducts master classes in
schools accordion and also accompanies some famous singers:
S. Regiane, G. Lenorman, D. Guichard.
In 1986 he decided to create his orchestra and currently he
is in high demand as an entertainer, where his reputation
for providing superior dance music and varied repertoire guarantees
a night to remember!
