I spoke with Zhao Jing Xuan (picture left), General Manager of Tianjin "Baidi" Musical Instrument Co. which is the official sponsor of this event.

Zhao said, that from 2007, Baidi had been a sponsor. In the first year, the event was held in Jinan, 2009 in Qingdao, and returning again to Jinan for 2012.

The Baidi company was interested to sponsor the National Accordion Competitions so as to promote the Baidi accordions and also encourage more children to learn accordion.

The Baidi company has a display at the 2012 competitions and included in the display was a new model button accordion, 97 treble notes, 120 bass and the instrument has 3 treble sets of reeds, one set being high piccolo type reeds.

Cagnoni reedsThe Baidi company has a close association with Cagnoni Accordion Reeds of Italy and the professional level Baidi accordions are manufactured with Italian reeds supplied by the Cagnoni company of Italy.

The Baidi company has also supported the Baidi Accordion Orchestra conducted by Chen Weiliang and that orchestra will be performing next in Beijing on the 15th August.

The Baidi company was also a sponsor of the 2011 Coupe Mondiale World Accordion Orchestra event that was held in Shanghai. Picture left: banner about this event.

That night, many internationally well known accordionists from all over the world played Baidi accordions in this orchestra and afterwards, they signed these instruments with their name. Most of the instruments were then sold but some have been kept for historical reasons.

Zhao said that the Baidi company is happy to continue supporting the “Baidi Cup” National Accordion Competitions for the coming years.

Her aim for the Baidi company is to continue improving the quality of the instruments so as to produce the most suitable accordions for the Chinese people, which she believes is the path for Baidi accordions to become the most popular in China.
