At the concert venue, there was a display of accordions promoting World Accordion Day and the 2009 Coupe Mondiale which will also be held in Takapuna, North Shore City, 25-29 August 2009.

The latest CD's of compositions by Gary Daverne involve the accordion significantly.

The concert began to a packed house of nearly 1,000 people. Picture of Kevin beginning his performance.

The work being performed, Gem of the Kaipara by Kevin (composed by Gary Daverne) who is also conductor of the Auckland Symphony Orchestra had in the back ground, slides of the Kaipara region of New Zealand. See program notes above for the history and background to this lovely work.

The performance was extremely well received with long applause after which flowers were presented. A very nice celebration of World Accordion Day and promotion of the 2009 Coupe Mondiale to be held in New Zealand in August.
