| This very rare earliest accordion, is just 10 years older than the first accordion patent and very similar with just one more key. This fascinating instrument is part of the Dargaville Museum presents 'Accordion Gems' curated by Kevin Friedrich... A Master Collection of Accordions through Time... to which we invite all accordionists to view and enjoy in Dargaville City, Northland. Kevin Friedrich spoke about the 6 May 1829, the date the accordion patent was first filed and about this instrument and then played it for the audience. He also read to the audience an excerpt about the first recorded information about the accordion in New Zealand. Read this amusing historical anecdote. accordion1839 |
