“Martynas”

MARTYNAS … that is the name which the whole world will soon know and appreciate. Yes, the world! It is the name of a very young, handsome, finely-educated, and extremely wellspoken talented musician, an accordionist from Lithuania.

Already at the age of 21 he has won several awards, including the Coupe Mondiale, the World Championship of the Accordion, and in his own country, the popular TV show “Lithuania’s Got Talent” where he became a primetime television star. Now recognized as a local hero in Lithuania, Martynas has also been appointed as a tourism ambassador by his country’s government. And, oh yes, he has also earned his music diploma in the Royal Academy of Music in London! There is one more reason, too: this CD was recently recognized on the front page of London newspapers as the top selling classical recording in the United Kingdom. This is why the world will soon know the name of Martynas.

This is one CD you, regardless of your age or preference in music, should go buy as quickly as possible! You will listen to this recording time and time again without tiring of it. First of all, above all, it is very well-played! Secondly, every single piece on the recording is a piece everyone will really enjoy. There are no uninteresting pieces; every single track is top-notch in every possible aspect. This is the very best repertoire one could select for a truly commercial recording planned to appeal to as many listeners as possible throughout the world, which indeed is exactly what Martynas will be doing over the next several months: performing live in many different countries.

This is not your usual accordion recording! You will hear the fine playing of Martynas throughout, but you will also hear other especially fine musicians as well. The orchestra, the band, the string quartet are all extremely fine and exciting, the arrangements are excellent, and you will have a very difficult time in selecting a favorite; you will find they are all favorites!

If the accordion ever needed an international star, this young man is it. One need not look elsewhere! He will be around for a long time and, in fact, there are future recordings and future tours already planned after this one. If you have the chance, go hear him live; it will be just as exciting as, if not more so, than this wonderful CD simply titled “MARTYNAS.”

Included are: Hungarian Dance No. 5 in G minor (Brahms), Theme from La Forza Del Destino (Verdi), Habanera from Carmen/La Cumparsita (Bizet/Matos), Por Una Cabeza (Gardel/LePera), Telephone (Germanotta/Knowles/Jerkins/Daniels/Franklin), Ai Se Eu Te Pego (Nossa Nossa) (Da Fonesca/Vinage/Teixeira/Arcoverde/Cerqueira), Hava Nagila (Traditional), Air on a G String (J.S. Bach), Rondo Alla Turca (Mozart), La Califfa/Love Theme from Cinema Paradiso (Morricone), and Hot N Cold (Perry/Max/Gottwald), Czardas (Monti), Parlez-Moi D’Amour (Lenoir), Allegretto (Beethoven), and finally “L’inverno” (Winter)-Allegro (Vivaldi) for a total of 15 terrific selections!

Martynas Levickis plays accordion on all tracks. He even sings on one of them! Needless to say, the Recording Engineers, Producers, Programming, Mastering, Project Management, Production Co-ordinator are all of the very highest quality which is so apparent throughout this exciting new CD, recorded from January to March of 2013. This is indeed hot off the press. It was released by DECCA Music&Media on July 1, 2013 and you may order it directly from Amazon. Ask for Martynas Decca 478 5651
