Nürnberger Akkordeonorchester 70th year Gala concert

In 2016, the Nürnberger Akkordeonorchester celebrated its 70th Anniversary with a number of outstanding concerts. The final highlight was a double concert evening on Saturday 3rd December.

ACCORDEONOVA 2016 - 18:00 hours

This was a special program for fans interested in new-contemporary music performed by the Nürnberger Akkordeonorchester (conductor: Stefan Hippe).

The orchestra performed 4 world premieres for accordion orchestra.
1. Stefan Hippe - Jubiläumsmusik 2.015 (Premiere) - Germany
2. Werner Heider - Locomobile II (Premiere) – Germany, Arranged: Katja und Stefan Hippe
3. Ðeni Dekleva - Radakovic - Rondomorfosa (Premiere) - Croatia
4. Pavel Trojan - Sedm Invencí – Seven Inventions (Premiere) – Czech Republic
5. Ian Watson - Clowns – United Kingdom

Two major concerts in one evening, with 4 premieres from different countries, says alot about the musical depth of the Nürnberger Akkordeonorchester players and leadership. The two concerts were a very worthy way to celebrate 70 years of highly successful concerts and recordings by the Nürnberger Akkordeonorchester.

Stefan Hippe asked each composer to stand and acknowledge the applause of the audience. The only composer not present was Ian Watson (UK) and 6 of his London Accordion Orchestra players were enthusiastic enough to come from London to attend the concert. Some happy players taking bow and enjoying the applause. The works were well selected to appeal to the audience.

70 year booklet download
Everyone attending the concert was given a beautiful colour 23 page booklet which included pictures and text about the 70 year history as well as a detailed concert program. Download at: 70th Anniversary Booklet
At the end of the first concert, there was a social time in the lobby for talking. President of the Nürnberger Akkordeonorchester Manfred Elbacher, CIA Ambassador Kevin Friedrich (USA), DHV President Jochen Haußmann (Germany), CIA Public Relations Harley Jones (New Zealand) and CIA Music Committee Chairman Mirco Patarini (Italy) enjoying the time.
   
TSCHAIKOWSKY - GALA CONCERT - 20:00

The main gala concert features the most popular Russian composer of the 19th century: Pjotr Iljitsch Tschaikowsky and the hall was completely full with an enthusiastic audience. Performing was the Nürnberger Akkordeonorchester, AO Nürnberg-Schwabach, Members of the Bundesakkordeonorchester, Conductor: Stefan Hippe.

The concert began with a speech by the orchestra leader Manfred Elbacher and a presentation was made by the President of the Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) Raymond Bodell to him - a special award, a Diplôme of Recognition to celebrate the Orchestra’s 70th Anniversary. The Nürnberger Akkordeonorchester (conductor: Stefan Hippe) then took the stage to present:
1. "Capriccio Italien, op. 45", Arrangement: Willi Münch
2. Waltz from "Swan Lake", Arrangement: Herbert Bausewein
3. "Allegro Molto Vivace" from the Symphony "Pathétique", Arrangement: Wolfgang Pfeffer

The break at half time was also a nice time to meet and talk.
Villie Mattila (Finland), Fritz Dobler (famous German composer, conductor, former Coupe Mondiale World Champion and past DHV President) and Kimmo Mattila (CIA Secretary General). Two past presidents. Kevin Friedrich (past CIA President) and Fritz Dobler (past DHV President).

In the second part of the concert with three orchestras was the Nürnberger Akkordeonorchester, AO Nürnberg-Schwabach, Members of the Bundesakkordeonorchester, Conductor: Stefan Hippe.

They performed:
Tschaikowsky "Piano Concerto No. 1" op. 23, Arrangement: Katja und Stefan Hippe, Piano: Holger Berndsen.

3. Allegro con fuoco
