 Der 63. CMA Trophée Mondial ist in Samara, Russland vom 24. bis 29. September 2013 und wird von Sergei Voitenko (Bild links) Teil des bekannten Bayan Mix Duos veranstaltet.Der CMA Präsident Frédéric Deschamps sagt: "Wir freuen uns, nach Samara, dem Austragungsort des 2007 Trophée Mondiale‘s zurückzukehren und sind sicher, dass es ein großes Fest werden wird.“ 20.000 € Preisgeld.  Das Projekt "Bach Volume 1 'vom Akkordeonist Mika Väyrynen, wurde im Herbst 2012 veröffentlicht und Anfang Mai 2013 wurde der Teil 2 des gleichen Projekts, einschließlich aller Französisch Suites by Bach, und ein paar andere Stücke von Bach ('Passacaglia' und 'Thema Fugatum in C minor "," Präludium und Fuge in a-Moll "etc) komplettiert. Band 2 erscheint im Herbst 2013 von ALBA-Records.Am 3. und 4. Juni, wird Mika Väyrynen das Konzerts für Akkordeon und Sinfonieorchester 'Prophecy', des berühmten estnischen Komponisten Erkki-Sven Tüür, mit dem Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra und dem Dirigent Olari Elts (gewann den Sibelius Wettbewerb für Dirigenten im Jahr 2000) präsentieren. Das Mika Väyrynen gewidmete Konzert, wurde im Herbst 2007 vom Turku Philharmonic Orchestra (Finnland) und dem Orchestra de Bretagne (Frankreich) uraufgeführt und in Zusammenarbeit der beiden Orchester kommissioniert. Die Aufnahme wird von Online-Records im Frühjahr 2014 veröffentlicht werden. Die CD enthält Akkordeon Concerto 'Prophecy' und 'Symphony Nr. 5 'von Erkki-Sven Tüür. | Der finnische Dirigent und Konzert Akkordeonist Jukka-Pekka Kuusela führte ein symphonisches Programm (Dang Huu Phuc, Chopin, Sibelius) mit dem Hanoi Philharmonic Orchestra in Vietnams Hauptstadt Hanoi, am 23. und 24. Mai auf. Während seines Aufenthalts wurde er auch eingeladen, einen Akkordeon Meisterkurs für die Schüler der vietnamesischen Nationalen Musikakademie zu geben. Die Atmosphäre während der Meisterklasse war inspirierend und die Schüler begrüßten mit Lob und Bewunderung die präzise technische Beratung des Künstlers Kuusela. Die vietnamesischen Studenten hatten sowohl ein Solo-und Ensemble-Programme vorbereitet. Das Akkordeon-Klasse der Akademie wird von Ngoc Thanh (Absolventin der Gnessin Musikakademie, Moskau) geführt. |

  On May 21, 2013 Accordion USA News Editor Rita Davidson from New Jersey and Asher Barnea, retired businessman from Boca Raton, were married in Florida. The internet is not only great for accordion news but is also a wonderful way for introducing people who might not otherwise have the opportunity to meet!Rita lived in New Jersey and Asher lived in Florida. They met on one of the popular Internet dating sites! And it quickly developed into a romance and now marriage! Rita recently retired from a long and distinguished career as a music teacher in the public schools where she used her accordion in the music classes every day! Rita will now be known as Rita Barnea and she will happily continue her accordion activities as Editor of the Accordion USA news, Board member of the AAA, writer, musicologist and performer/workshop presenter.  Recently Italian accordionist Mirco Patarini went to China visiting some of the country’s most important music academies. He visited the ‘Youth Activities Center of Fengtai District’ in Beijing, where he has already known some of the students well, all young accordionists at the beginning of their careers.He moved to the Art Institute of Nanjing, where he held some master classes, and then went on to meet the talented students of Normal University in Nanjing. During the final stage of his visit, Mirco Patarini travelled to Shanghai where he held some master classes with the students of the prestigious Conservatory of Shanghai. Considering the great success of the Chinese visits, the passion and the curiosity with which Chinese people are approaching the accordion, we would like to thank them all so much. Stereo Strings perform "Granada" and "Brazil", Lou Coppola accordion

On May 19, our club, the Washington Metropolitan Accordion Society (WMAS) was treated to a very special concert. For the first time in 56 years, four-time AAA Virtuoso Champion and former US Air Force Strolling Strings accordionist, Lou Coppola, performed a spectacular solo concert. Lou told the audience that his friend, Joan Grauman, “bugged” him for about 9 years to play solos again. Well yes, this is true. I am guilty as charged. It is hard to describe how happy I felt while sitting in that room listening to Lou play those solos! His skills are still beyond excellent and his dynamics and warmth created an excitement in our large social hall that has never before been seen or heard there. Wow, Lou was a huge hit and the cheers could be heard outside the brick walls! Then, Lou brought to the stage superb violinists Stephanie Wiman Myers and David Swanson, and celebrated bass player, John Coppola (Lou’s son). The “Stereo Strings” performed for our club and strolled through the room. Their performance was mesmerizing and totally delightful. You can hear Lou Coppola and the Stereo Strings at the AAA 75th Anniversary Festival in New York City. They will be the performers during the gala banquet on Saturday, August 17.  The just updated book "Workshop on Texas Fiddling and Clogging" by Dr Daniel Kot can be played on accordion and he has kindly given this book to the accordion world as a free download. Thank you to him.Download at: Clogging Daniel wrote: Many may not be aware aware of the use of the accordion and fiddle in the development of the Western USA. For example, Howe published a book of over 1,000 fiddle tunes for the accordion in the 1800's. Howe was one of the most prolific music publishers of fiddle/accordion and dance choreographers back then. |

 The Accordions Worldwide news for the week ending May 28th 1999 included an item about a forthcoming Scandinavian accordion music festival bearing the name of Walter Eriksson, one of the most revered of Scandinavian accordionists. Walter Eriksson (1926-93), born in Sweden of Swedish/Finnish parents, was and still is a much admired accordionist and prolific composer, for whom there is a dedicated website and also a Facebook page.6th Walter Eriksson Musikfest – USA Contributed by Peter Norrman The 6th Walter Eriksson Musikfest will be held from May 29th to 30th 1999 in Vasa Park, Budd Lake, New Jersey, from 11am until midnight both days. The aim of the event is to celebrate and preserve Scandinavian Music. The official opening will feature a Grand March and Children's Music Parade, beginning at 1pm on the 29th with performers from the USA, Sweden and Norway. Entertainment during the musikfest will be provided by The Scandinavian Accordion Club (New York), Torsten & his accordion (Malmö), The Swede & The Norwegian (accordionists), Al Haugen & Tommy Ippolito (Jazz accordionists) and Scandinavian Folkdancers. On the 30th a ‘Folkdance & Music Jamboree’ will be held with Swedish and Norwegian folkdances taught continuously from 1 to 4pm and ‘Accordion Funshop & Lessons’, led by Artie Carlson held from 2 to 3pm. Each evening in the Viking Hall there will be non-stop dance music for as long as the musicians last. Scholarships up to $1,000 will be awarded to eligible music students. All proceeds from the event go to benefit local deserving organizations and non profit groups including the Walter Eriksson Memorial Trust. |

 Accordionist Dee Langley begins teaching an ensemble course on June 1st, 10am until noon, continuing every Saturday until July 13th, though there is no class on July 6th. The music will be the rich, mysterious and sometimes romantic melodies from the Balkans, Eastern Europe, and the Roma (Gypsy) people. The course is open to all ages and levels. The course takes place at the Meeting Room, Windom NE Park Rec. Center, 2251 Hayes St. N.E. Minneapolis, MN 55418. Ensemble members should have an accordion in good working condition, a folding music stand, and a desire to discover world adventures through music. Dee Langley is an award winning musician and composer specializing in both solo and ensemble works for the accordion. Ms. Langley teaches at Minneapolis Community and Technical College (MCTC) and is the winner of the 2012 Minnesota Emerging Composer Award (World Music) from the American Composer Forum and the 2011-2012 McKnight Fellowship for Performing Musicians administered by MacPhail Center for Music.  The Jimmy Blair Accordion Orchestra (MD Gary Blair) perform in concert on Saturday June 1st, 3pm, at the Campsie Show (9am until 5pm), Bogton Farm, Torrance, East Dunbartonshire.The original Jimmy Blair Accordion Orchestra was formed in the early 1970s, and its Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced and bands were dominant in the NAO All Britain Championships during the 1970s and into the next decade. The JBAO was revived in 2009 by Gary Blair, son of the late Jimmy Blair, and the new orchestra has proved to be championship winners, magnificently maintaining a long tradition. |

 Accordionist Romano Viazzani will be performing next week with singer-songwriter David Vaughan and clarinettist Daniel Broncano. Their previous concerts have been very well received. David Vaughan's songwriting, arranging, and performance style is quite unique, drawing on both European and British influences in chanson and music theatre, and the gigs are a great night out. The dates next week are:June 6th, 8.30pm - Oliver's Jazz Bar, 9 Nevada St, Greenwich, London SE10 9JL June 9th, 8.30pm - The Bull's Head, Barnes, London SW13 9PY Oliver's Jazz Bar is a cosy basement jazz bar with a modest stage and sound system but with a great atmosphere full of Gallic charm. The Bull's Head, on the other hand, is an established jazz venue with a lovely Yamaha grand piano and full sound and lighting. June 13th, 7.30pm – with vovalist Bethany Jameson, ‘Soirée Parisienne’, Bouverie Hall, Pewsey, Wiltshire Romano writes, “In addition to the two gigs with David Vaughan Romano will be playing with ‘Cabaret Verite’ and Bethany Jameson again soon. I will also be back with ‘Cabaret Verite’ in July on the 12th at The Green Note, Parkway Camden Town London, on July 13th July at Mary and Percy Shelley’s House in Bournemouth, and on July 14th at La Cave in Southwark for Bastille Night.  The Accordion Babes 2014 Album & Pin-Up Calendar is in preparation, but the deadline for submission of photo, song on CD, etc, has been extended from June 1st until June 14th.There are lots of tips and diagrams available from the organizer Renee de la Prade for producing a calendar-quality photo, including nuts-and-bolts stuff like image dimensions, and some do's and don'ts for your photo shoot. Please note that a photo needs to be accompanied by a photo release form signed by the applicant and her photographer.
