Milwaukee Accordion Club Welcomes New President

Milwaukee logo
Sherry HuirasThe Milwaukee Accordion Club (MAC) welcomes Sherry Huiras (picture left) as their new President. The long time President Shirl Barry will continue to support the MAC in her new role as Secretary.

The Milwaukee Accordion Club was founded in March 1991 and currently has a membership of approximately 250. Their mission is to stimulate a positive attitude toward the performance of music on the accordion by strengthening relationships with fellow musicians, expanding knowledge of the accordion and accordion playing, and by developing various musical programs to acquaint the general public with the education and entertainment values of the accordion.

Monthly meetings are held at the Root River Center in Franklin, WI with a typical evening consisting of Pre-meeting Music provided by accordionists from within their membership; a Young-Artist Performance presented by an accordion student; and the Featured Program - which over the years has included performances by many national and international accordion artists. The genre of music runs the gamut from classical to jazz - with a mix of ethnic, polkas, big band, Cajun, country, etc. - something for everyone!

Upcoming concerts at the MAC include the Australian born International artist Bernadette Conlon Zabawa (September 28th), the Johnny Matt Trio from Chicago, (October 26th), the new age Polka group Copper Box (November 23rd).
