The 5th International Accordion Festival was held in Graz from November 23rd to 24th, organised by Slaviša Peric. It is the goal of the festival director to bring together artists, educators and candidates from different countries for a peaceful competition and extensive exchange of views every year. The positive development in recent years gives him justice in his work. This will encourage young players and make the accordion better known to a wider audience

Participants at this year’s event were from a total of ten countries - Austria, Italy, Sweden, Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia, Russia, Romania, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina. They showed their considerable skills in 13 categories (classical accordion, chamber music ensemble and virtuoso entertainment music).

The jury comprised Mirco Patarini (Italy), Irina Krutkjova (Sweden), Maria Budzakova (Slovakia), Ana Štepin Zagoranski (Croatia), Mikela Uršic (Slovenia), Evgenja Khazova (Russia) and Slaviša Peric (Bosnia and Herzegovina).

This year, Mirco Patarini, President of the International Accordion Association CIA (Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes), active concert accordionist and managing director of the acclaimed accordion company Scandalli in Castelfidardo, was the star guest.

He was invited to show his skills during the award-winning concert. (see picture below) and visitors were also able to view Scandalli instruments at the exhibition.
