Frédéric Guérouet Accordion Recital, Paris - France

Frédéric GuérouetDuring his concert at Médiathèque Marguerite Duras, Paris on Saturday March 23rd, Frédéric Guérouet gave the first performance of Ida Gotkovsky’s ‘Rhapsody for Accordion’ in the presence of the composer.

Also performed were some major works of the contemporary accordion repertoire by Alain Abbott, Sofia Gubaidulina, Magnus Lindberg, Alain Margoni and others. An exhibition of CD's and scores of Ida Gotkovsky and works for accordion in collaboration with les éditions Gérard Billaudot was organized in the hall.

Frédéric Guérouet began his accordion studies at the age of six with his father and then with Médard Ferrero. At the age of 11, he performed in Salle Pleyel, the most prestigious concert hall of Paris.

After the death of his teacher, he continued his studies with Joe Rossi. In September 1975, he was admitted to the Conservatory of Music of Kiev in the Ukraine in the class of Vladimir Besfamilnov.

After winning numerous awards, he began a solo career, which led him throughout Europe and on to such places as Buenos Aires and Tokyo. Besides his solo career, he has accompanied many artists such as Barbara Hendricks, or young soloists such as Rachid Safir.

He played in the Quartet of Accordions of Paris with Richard Galliano, Valérie Guérouet and Joe Rossi. Today, Guérouet moves more and more towards creation and composition, encouraged by Philippe Hersant, Thierry Escaich and Henri Dutilleux.
