ATG feiert ihr 80-jähriges Bestehen in großem Stil - USAby Kevin Friedrich |

 Die 1940 in Chicago vom emeritierten Präsidenten Anthony Galla-Rini gegründete Accordionists & Teachers Guild, International (ATG) ist zwar 82 Jahre alt, konnte sich aber nach Verzögerungen im Zusammenhang mit dem Bau des Gebäudes endlich wieder zusammenfinden und vom 20. bis 24. Juli 2022 in Lisle (Chicago), Illinois, ihr 80-jähriges Bestehen feiern.Zu den Gästen und Aktivitäten gehörten eine Reihe von Künstlern, die verschiedene Musikgenres repräsentieren: Stas Venglevski (USA), Michael Bridge (Kanada), Mirco Patarini (Italien), Nikolay Bine (Kanada), Murl Allen Sanders (USA), das 80-köpfige ATG-Festivalorchester (Bild oben), das Akkordeon-Ensemble der University of Missouri Kansas-City (UMKC), ein Akkordeon-Streichelzoo, Wettbewerbe, pädagogische Workshops, soziale Aktivitäten, Ausstellungen und vieles mehr! Die Präsidentin der ATG, Mary Ann Covone, und der Vorstand begrüßten Besucher aus Österreich, Italien, den USA und Kanada zu dem viertägigen Festival, das das Akkordeon in seiner ganzen Pracht präsentierte. Als Hommage an ihren Gründer veröffentlichte die ATG eine neue CD mit den Concerti von Anthony Galla-Rini. Auf Concerto No. 1 spielen die US-Champions Karen Fremar, Robert Sattler und Jeff Lisenby jeweils einen Satz mit dem UMKC-Akkordeon-Orchester unter der Leitung von Joan Sommers; auf Concerto No. 2 ist Stas Venglevski mit dem Racine Symphony Orchestra unter der Leitung von Pasquale Laurino zu hören, und die CD enthält einen unglaublich seltenen Bonustrack, auf dem Galla-Rini selbst die Weltpremiere seines Concerto No. 1 mit dem Oklahoma City University Symphony Orchestra unter der Leitung von James Neilson spielt, aufgenommen im Jahr 1941. Zur Feier der neuen CD und des 80-jährigen Jubiläums führte Stas das Konzert Nr. 2 beim Gala-Abschlusskonzert unter der Leitung von William Morse mit dem Racine Symphony Orchestra auf. Neu in diesem Jahr war der beliebte "Streichelzoo", bei dem die Öffentlichkeit eingeladen war, das Akkordeon aus erster Hand zu erleben. Die beliebte Entertainerin Jane Christison spielte beliebte Kinderstücke, während Freiwillige mit 12 Bassinstrumenten dem Publikum bei der Einführung ins Akkordeonspiel halfen. Den Höhepunkt des Festivals bildete das großartige 80-köpfige Akkordeonorchester zu Ehren des 80-jährigen Jubiläums. Das Orchester präsentierte in der Armerding Concert Hall des Wheaton College unter der Leitung der weltbekannten Dirigentin und ehemaligen ATG-Präsidentin Joan Cochran Sommers ein spektakuläres Programm mit Werken von Jarre, Galla-Rini, Sibelius, Kabalevsky, Hardiman und Rodgers und Hammerstein. Mirco Patarini, Präsident der Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA), war anwesend, um der ATG seine Glückwünsche auszusprechen. Galla-Rini war selbst ehemaliger CIA-Vizepräsident und hatte vor mehr als 70 Jahren bei einer Generalversammlung in Paris im Jahr 1951 erfolgreich eine Petition für die Mitgliedschaft der ATG bei der CIA eingereicht. | Das 8. jährliche polnische Festival findet am 4. September 2022 um 13 Uhr auf dem Shipbuilders' Square & Pipe Shop in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Kanada statt. Organisiert von der Belweder North Shore Polish Association, werden die Teilnehmer die polnische Kultur, Folklore, Musik, Küche und vieles mehr feiern. Auf dem Festival tritt die Gruppe "Parno Drom" mit dem Akkordeonisten Bob Kozak (Bild unten) auf, der mit einer Vielzahl osteuropäischer Zigeunermusik unterhalten wird. August 2022 Die Dozenten sind Jacques Mornet, Nathalie Boucheix (links im Bild) und ihr Team aus talentierten jungen Akkordeonisten Dantong Wang, Anais Bessières und Maxime d'Errico. In den Workshops wird die Instrumentalarbeit nach der Methode von Jacques Mornet behandelt, einschließlich der Steuerung des Luftstroms durch den Balg, des Gleichgewichts zwischen Körper und Instrument, der Arbeit am Anschlag und der Artikulation sowie der Musikalität.   Musik, Akkordeon und helle Sommernächte, eingebettet in eine unnachahmlicheWald- und Seenlandschaft, bilden eine einmalig exotische Atmosphäre, die anderswo schwer zu finden ist. Das Sata-Häme Soi Akkordeon Festival wurde 1972 von Heikki Eränen gegründet und ist von bescheidenen Anfängen bis zu einer Besucherzahl von über 30.000 gewachsen. Ikaalinen liegt im Grenzgebiet der beiden Provinzen Satakunta und Häme (daher der Name) und wurde im Laufe der Jahre von den Klängen (Soi!) berühmter Musiker erfüllt: das Malando Septett, Alfred Hause und sein Orchester, Mantovani, Osvaldo Pugliese, Astor Piazzolla, Juan Mosalini, das Mantua Streichquartett, das St. Petersburger Akkordeonorchester, etc. Sogar das Johann Strauß-Ensemble der Wiener Symphoniker unter Johannes Wildner wurde bei seinem Konzert im Jahre 1989 von nichts anderem als einem Akkordeon begleitet! Neben dem Akkordeon gibt es aber auch stets andere Darbietungen wie Tanzveranstaltungen, Kirchenkonzerte oder Sommertheater im Programm. Obwohl das Festival im Laufe der Jahre immer mehr auf eine internationale Basis gestellt wurde, so hat es eine doch sehr wesentliche nationale Bedeutung: es ist verantwortlich für die Tatsache, dass die finnische Akkordeontradition so intakt erhalten geblieben ist und zurzeit neue Anerkennung bei einem breiten Publikum erwirbt. Es war Heikki Eränens Traum, die große finnische Tradition der Volkstanzmusik und des Akkordeons in einem jährlichen Festival zusammenzubringen. Ende der 60er Jahre gab es in Ikaalinen auf seine Initiative bereits ein Akkordeonensemble, eine Streichergruppe und andere Ensembles, die Konzerte und andere kulturelle Veranstaltungen abhielten. Ein Besuch von Lasse Pihlajamaa, Finnlands großem Akkordeonpionier, gab dann den endgültigen Anlass für ein Volksmusikfestival in Ikaalinen, das bereits 1972 15.000 Gäste anlockte. Im Jahre 1985 kamen 1.500 Leute in die damals neue Ikaalinen-Halle zu einem Konzert von Taito Vainio. Das zuerst dreitägige Festival wurde auf eine ganze Woche, später sogar auf zehn Tage ausgedehnt und erfasste auch nahegelegene Orte wie Tampere, Jämijärvi, Ylöjärvi, Nokia und Parkano. Zum Auftakt der 50-Jahr-Feier wurde das Festival von Eeva Viitanen, Bürgermeisterin von Ikaalinen, eröffnet, Mikko Alatalo und die Gewinner des Goldenen Akkordeons 2021 Vilma Wiren und Sonja Lampinen umrahmten die Zeremonie musikalisch. Die Wettbewerbe Goldene und Silberne Harmonika wurden in Zusammenarbeit von Sata-Häme Soi mit dem finnischen Harmonikaverband organisiert. Für beide ist 2022 ein Jubiläumsjahr, feiert doch Sata-Häme Soi seinen 50jährigen und der Verband seinen 70jährigen Bestand. Die Finalisten der Goldenen und Silbernen Harmonika 2022 wurden auf der Harmonika Cruise im Mai gekürt, das Finale war jetzt live im Fernsehen von Ikaalinen zu sehen. Der Wettbewerb Goldene Harmonika 2022 wurde vom 16-jährigen Ville Vehkalahti aus Lavia gewonnen, das Silberne Akkordeon für Kinder vom 10-jährigen Samuel Heikola aus Pori. Ville Vehkalahti spielte in der ersten Runde Schwarze Augen (trad.) und in der zweiten Minka-Variationen. Die Jury bezeichnete Ville Vehkalahtis Spiel als sehr musikalisch und technisch gekonnt und bewunderte auch seine wundervolle natürliche Bühnenausstrahlung. Samuel Heikola überzeugte die Jury mit Thibaut Trossets Adaption von Pirates of the Caribbean. In der Pause unterhielt Netta Skog das Publikum auf ihrem digitalen Akkordeon mit I want my Tears back. Die Jury bestand aus musikalischen Fachleuten wie Siina Hirvonen, Henna-Maija Vannemaa, Sami Pirttilahti, Reijo Ahonen und Sirpa Kainulainen. Festival-Organisator Kimmo Mattila und Salla Paajanen moderierten das TV-Finale in gewohnt gekonnter Weise. Das internationale Festival Sata-Häme Soi, das einst aus der lokalen Pelimanni-Tradition hervorgegangen ist, ehrte seine Traditionen mit zwei Konzerten: im Konzertsaal Oma-Tupa traten Musiker der berühmten Familie Huhtasalo pelimanni auf und in der Gemeindehalle von Röyhiö wurde der Abend im Rhythmus der Akkordeonisten und Geiger aus Ikaalinen verbracht. Der Pelimann Wettbewerb ist Finnlands ältester kontinuierlich organisierter Akkordeonwettbewerb. Insgesamt mehr als 60 musikalische Darbietungen von Spielern unterschiedlichen Alters waren auf der Parkbühne zu hören. In einem Vortrag im Harmonikamuseum führte Jouko Kulmala von Jämijärvis Pelimanni in die ursprüngliche Welt der Ikaali- und Jämijärve-Volksmusik ein. Einer der Höhepunkte des Jubiläumsfestivals war das von Alfa TV aufgezeichnete Jubiläumskonzert mit zahlreichen Solisten, begleitet vom berühmten Dallapé-Orchester. Tango-Liebhaber wurden von der Pirttilahti Tango Experience unter der Leitung von Sami Pirttilahti verwöhnt, einem international einzigartigen Tango-Orchester bestehend aus professionellen Musikern. Authentischer argentinischer Sound und originelle Arrangements garantierten dem Zuhörer ein unvergessliches Erlebnis. Am späteren Abend gab Janne Valkeajoki in der Kirche von Ikaalinen ein stimmungsvolles Klassikkonzert mit Werken von Bach, Rameau und Schostakowitsch. Der finnische Akkordeonverband ernannte Valkeajoki, der am Anfang einer vielversprechenden Karriere steht, zum Akkordeonkünstler des Jahres 2021. Internationales Flair vermittelten dem Festivalpublikum Radu Ratoi aus Moldawien und das österreichisch-kolumbianische Duo Das Kollektiv. Radu Ratoi gewann in den letzten Jahren verschiedene internationale Akkordeonwettbewerbe wie Coupe Mondiale, Trophée Mondial, Klingenthal, Moskau, Arrasate und Castelfidardo. Er verzückte seine Zuhörer mit Werken von Bach und Liszt. Das Duo Kollektiv (Raphael Brunner, Akkordeon; Juan Carlos Diaz, Flöte) erobert zurzeit die Weltmusik im Sturm. In ihren Konzerten wandelt das KOLLEKTIV zwischen Klassik, Folklore und Weltmusik. Wenn das KOLLEKTIV musiziert, dann wird Musik zur universellen Sprache: „Wir spielen ein Werk niemals wie es geschrieben steht, sondern bringen immer unsere eigenen Ideen und unsere Seele in die Musik.“ (Das KOLLEKTIV) Die Melodien des Festivals erreichten auch die Wellen des Sees Kyrösjärvi. Auf drei Künstlerkreuzfahrten spielten Jarkko Helin & Cajun Comets, die digitale Akkordeon-Weltmeisterin Netta Skog sowie die Tangokönigin Pirita Niemenmaa für das Publikum auf. Tanzbegeisterte wurden im Park und im Zelt verwöhnt. Tanzmusik kam von Tanssiorkesteri PNP, Jarkko Helin & Grawfish Kings, Jämijärvi Pelimannit, Vesa Formunen Dance Group, Pirita Niemenmaa Yhtyeinene und der Volksmusikgruppe Nope. Partys sollten sich besonders an junge Leute richten. Am ersten Abend traten Patsas, Netta Skog, Jobo sowie Pasi und Anssi im Festivalpark auf, am zweiten Hamilton Jones, Telsonig, Werstailijat und das Oktoberfest-Orchester Oivaset bei der Strandparty des Schiffes. 2023 wird die Leitung von Sata-Häme Soi in den Händen des neuen künstlerischen Leiters Sami Pirttilahti liegen. Er studierte an der Kunstakademie in Turku und erhielt eine klassische Musikausbildung. Er ist vor allem als Spezialist für Tango bekannt und verfügt über ein umfangreiches musikalisches Netzwerk. Pirttilahti ist Akkordeonkünstler des Jahres 2020 und eine fixe Größe in der internationalen Tangowelt. Die Band Tango del Norte und das Orchester Pirttilahti Tango Experience nennt er als seine wichtigsten Projekte. Unter seiner Leitung soll beim Sata-Häme Soi Festival in den kommenden Jahren aber auch fröhliche finnische Akkordeonmusik zu hören sein. |

  The International Music Festival “Harmonika Fest” is the first International Music Festival for Accordion in Montenegro, founded in 2010 in Cetinje, where it was held until 2014. Since then the festival hosts all participants and audience in the beautiful Adriatc town of Tivat and is aimed at accordionists of all ages and abilities. Founder and director of the festival is Prof. Predrag Jankovic. The festival is organized by the NGO "Harmonika Montenegrina" with the support of Cultural Centre Tivat, Municipality Tivat and Ministry of Culture and Media. The festival has featured the most eminent artists in the field of classical accordion: Yuri Shishkin, Sergey Osokin, Renzo Ruggieri, Pavel Fenjuk, Vladimir Murza, Petar Maric, Nikola Pekovic, Semion Shmelkov, Roman Jbanov, Domi Emorine (Duo Paris Moscou) and many others. The festival consists of three main events: competition, masterclasses and evening concerts. Also, in addition, every year, the festival organizes scientific lectures, round tables, promotions of books, textbooks, leading accordion factories, etc. The International Competition includes categories for accordion solo, chamber music, orchestras and variety. An important part of the festival are the Master classes which are held for students of lower and middle music schools, as well as students from the Music academy, accordion department. Lecturers at the workshops are eminent professors who work at the most prestigious Music Academies in Europe and the world. The exchange of knowledge, practice and experience, promotion of the classical accordion as well as meeting local and global tendencies in contemporary concert and pedagogical practice for accordion are the primary goals of this project. This year's 12th edition of the International Music festival Harmonika Fest was held from June 24th to 26th at the Cultural Centre Tivat. At the opening ceremony, Predrag Jankovic addressed the audience and the media. He said: “With the continuous development of the festival, recognizable artistic and educational qualities, as well as the participation of an increasing number of participants and competitors from year to year, the festival became recognizable on the map of the most important European festivals for classical accordion. For the past 11 years, we have tried to make quality imperative, that is the basis our festival. When I say quality, I mean not only good organization, but what is most important the expertise and competences that adorn the renowned members of international jury, professors and lecturers. World-renowned artists also made a great contribution to the festival, they strengthened and enriched this project with their performances”. Predrag Jankovic then gave a plaque for contribution to the development of the festival to Prof. Radomir Tomic, who is one of the world's most respected professors and the founder of the modern accordion school at the Balkan. We had the honour and pleasure to host Mirco Patarini, President of the CIA, who thanked all the students and their parents for being a part of this project. He emphasized the importance of education and guidance of the individual and providing support to young people in order to develop the entire society. The festival was officially opened by the mayor of Tivat, Mr. Zeljko Komnenovic. At the Opening ceremony Radu Ratoi, winner of world competitions (Coupe Mondiale, Castelfidardo, Klingenthal, World Trophy, etc.) held a memorable concert. During the two festival days the eminent international jury evaluated the competitors. Members of the jury were: Mirco Patarini (ITA), Radomir Tomic (SRB), Radu Ratoi (MOL), Marjan Krajna (CRO), Slavisa Peric (BIH), Aleksej Molcanov (MNE), Ivana Cvetkovski (CRO), Vujadin Krivokapic (MNE), Vesna Sarac (MNE) and Tijana Ilic (MNE). A great contribution to the development of techniques and skills of students was made by Mirco Patarini, who imparted his artistic and pedagogical knowledge to young artists at the master class. Mag.art.Dr.phil. Ivana Cvetkovski presented her primer Hocus Pocus Harmonicus and held a lecture on the method of pedagogical work with pupils who encounter the accordion for the first time. An important goal of the festival is the education of young artists whose work and progress at the festival follows year after year. The best students of primary and secondary music schools and students of the Music Academy in Montenegro performed on June 25th at a concert called Young scene of Montenegrin accordionists. Also, on the same evening, the Winners Concert was held with winners of all categories of the competition performing. Predrag Jankovic and Mirco Patarini presented prizes, cups and diplomas to the contestants, ending the 12th International Music Festival Harmonika Fest. |

| Applications are now invited for the Summer Creative School "Art Champion", which will be held in Vologda, Russia from August 15th to 22nd, 2022. Classes will be held for bayan, accordion and harmony and include daily individual lessons, ensemble rehearsals as well as an orchestra of participants. As part of the program, participants will also attend solo concerts and creative meetings with famous performers and musicians. The week-long training course will end with a final concert of participants and a round table, where those present will be able to discuss the results of their work and share their impressions and emotions. The course is aimed at students of children's music schools, children's art schools, students of secondary and higher educational institutions, as well as teachers and concert performers who can participate. In order to get acquainted with the city, organisers are planning a sightseeing tour of the city of Vologda.  Duo Two Accordions (Maria and Sergei Teleshev) were in the official entertainment group at the 18th World Athletics Championships giving concerts on July 18th, 20th and 21st, 2022.The event was held at the Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon, USA from July 15th to 24th and included over 2,000 athletes representing more than 200 nations. In addition the championships were televised in many countries around the world. |

 The Royal Meath Accordion Orchestra (pictured above) held their Annual Charity Variety Concert 2022 at St. Peter’s Church of Ireland in Drogheda, Ireland on July 15th, 2022.The event featured an evening of music and song with performances by the Orchestra Musik Akkordia (pictured below), who travelled from Berlin, Germany as part of their 25th anniversary celebrations, and the Royal Meath Accordion Orchestra (directed by Gerry Kelly). All proceeds from the concert were donated to the Drogheda Branch of the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland. |

Michael Bridge is a virtuoso performer on both the acoustic accordion and the digital accordion.   Video: 2022 festival artist information.Tickets are almost completely sold out for the 2022 Stowe Tango Music Festival which will be held at the Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center in Stowe, Vermont, USA from August 19th to 21st, 2022. The Artistic Director is bandoneonist, Hector Del Curto (picture right). The festival is open for bandoneon students of all levels and includes the final round of the 2022 Che Bandoneon International Competition where finalists will perform solo and orchestral works. Hector Del Curto will hold a Bandoneon Intensive Workshop for all levels of bandoneon students, which will feature daily technique classes, workshops, bandoneon orchestra, private lessons and performance opportunities.   Grayson Masefield wird am 30. Juli 2022 mit dem Christchurch Symphony Orchestra in der Christchurch Town Hall auftreten.Dieses Konzert ist Teil einer Reihe von Lamb & Hayward Masterworks 'Pastoral'-Konzerten des Christchurch Symphony Orchestra. Auf dem Programm steht das von Osvaldo Golijov komponierte Werk "Azul". Osvaldo Noé Golijov ist ein argentinischer Komponist klassischer Musik und Musikprofessor, der für seine Vokal- und Orchesterkompositionen bekannt ist. Der Chefdirigent des Christchurch Symphony Orchestra, Benjamin Northey, wird die Solisten Matthew Barley (Cello) und Grayson Masefield (Akkordeon) bei der Erstaufführung dieses Werks in Neuseeland dirigieren. | As the world continues to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic problems, individuals and groups are looking at ways to get back to full swing. The accordion community is one of these groups. During the downtime, the National Accordion Association (NAA) leaders spent some time upgrading the NAA website which needed to reflect 2022-2023 technology. In addition you will see information on the March 2023 National Accordion Convention held at the Hilton Hotel in Richardson, Texas. Plus: A new Accordion Association is being planned for young adult accordionists, aged from 18 to 29. The National Accordion Association (NAA) is looking for young adult accordionists who are “Leaping into their Future” while continuing to play the accordion. Regardless of their current position in this exciting new life, the NAA wants to support members of this group as long they continue to play the accordion along life’s journey. All of us know that this age group can use the accordion as a social instrument, a hobby, part-time income, and/or to develop a musical-related career. See: NAA website. |
