 Mehr als 2500 Besucher mit 9 Tagen Musik, darunter 7 Konzerte, 2 Recitale, 2 Galas Event und fast 100 der besten Akkordeonisten haben im italienischen und internationalen Wettbewerb in 6 Kategorien des 3. Strumenti & Musica Festival teilgenommen. Organisiert wurde diese Veranstaltung in Spoleto Mai 15-23 vom Kulturverein IAC (italienische Akkordeon Kultur) in Zusammenarbeit mit Ars Spoletium und endetet mit einem Konzert des 2009 Coupe Mondiale Preisträgers Grayson Masefield (Neuseeland). "Dieses Jahr erlebte das Festival einen bemerkenswerten Durchbruch", sagte der künstlerische Leiter Mirco Patarini - "nicht nur im Hinblick auf die grosse Besucheranzahl im Teatro Nuovo, Teatro Caio Melisso und Kaffeeausgebe während der Konzerte, sondern vor allem wegen des Niveaus der Teilnehmer und künstlerischen Darbietungen in dieser dritten Edition. " Es gab sechs Wettbewerbs Kategorien: Senior Classic, Classic Junior, Senior Virtuoso, Virtuoso Junior (15 & Under, 12 und jünger). Die internationale Jury von Lech Puchowski (Polen) und der CIA Präsident Raymond Bodell (GB), Mika Väyrynen (Finnland), Frederic Deschamps (Frankreich) Alexander Selivanov (Russland), Romano Viazzani (GB), Aleksandar Nikolic (Serbien) und Patrizia Angeloni (Italien). Ergebnisse: Samuel Telara (1. Platz, Junior Classic) und Angelo Miele (2. Platz, Senior Classic) sind die beiden italienischen Akkordeon-Spieler, die von den Cultural Association IAC ausgewàhlt wurden (gesponsert wird:Reise, Unterkunft und Verpflegung) am 2010 Coupe Mondiale CIA Wettbewerb in Varazdin (Kroatien) von 19 bis 25 Oktober 2010 teilzunehmen. Weitere Gewinner waren Grayson Masefield (Senior Classic und Senior Virtuoso), Matthew Marinelli (Junior Virtuoso), Michael Toppo (Virtuoso 15 & under) und Fausto Crediddio (Virtuoso 12 und jünger). "Die Beteiligung von Maestro Nicola Piovani, Mika Väyrynen (Finnland) von vielen als die besten zeitgenössischen klassischen Konzert Künstler, Konzerte der aktuellen Weltmeister n Grayson Masefield (Neuseeland) und Petar Maric (Serbien) und die Anwesenheit so vieler Nationen" - sagte Mirco Patarini - "ermutigte die Cultural Association IAC die Durchfuehrung des CIA Coupe Mondiales (Coupe Mondiale) International Accordion Championships in Spoleto im Jahre 2012 zu uebernehmen. Der Kulturverein IAC hat bereits mit den Vorbereitung begonnen beschàftigt, damit sich die Stadt Spoleto bestens auf diese grosse Veranstaltung einstellen kann. "Natürlich die kulturellen Errungenschaften des Festivals in nur drei Jahren sind nicht allein erreicht" - fügte die Präsidentin des Kulturvereins IAC, Gianluca Bibiana - "Es gibt viele Institutionen und Sponsoren, dass wir für all ihre Unterstützung danken möchten" The Ministero. von Culturali, Botschaft von Finnland, Regione Umbria, Provincia Perugia, Società Spoletina, Impresa Trasporti (SSIT), International Accordion Museum Castelfidardo und schließlich der CIA ". |

| Die University of Missouri in Kansas City (UMKC) Community Accordion Orchestra Akkordeon-Orchester Gemeinschaft, unter der Leitung von Joan C. Sommers, präsentierte vor einem begeisterten Publikum, ihr 49. Jahrestagung-Konzert an der Universität. In ihrem Programm sowohl Originalwerke und Transkriptionen: "Serenade in E-Dur, Op. 22 '(Antonín Dvořák), "On The Trail vom Grand Canyon Suite" (Ferde Grofé), "Ballade für Akkordeon-Orchester" (Fritz Dobler), "Adiós Nonino", "Close Your Eyes and Listen', 'Cité Tango" (Astor Piazzolla), "The Star Wars Epos" (John Williams), "Tango Fugitativo" und "Milonga Feliz" (Gerie Daanen), Medley aus "Wicked" (Stephen Schwartz) und "Die Amsel Polka" (Vladimir Ushakov). Für die Werke von Astor Piazzolla, wurde das Orchester von den Französischen Nationalen Tanzmeistern Louis Bar und Laura Cantu und einigen Mitgliedern ihres Tanzstudios in Kansas City begleitet, die das Publikum mit ihren spektakulären Tänzen begeisterte. Als Kulissen diente ein eigens dafuer aufgenommenes Video von UMKC Professor Caitlin Horsmon. Das Akkordeon-Orchester UMKC wird ihr 50. Jahreskonzert in einem speziellen Wiedersehen Wochenende mit des ehemaligen Orchester Mitgliedern und Freunden am 22. Mai 2011 zelebrieren.  Am Sonntag 23. Mai fand die 32. Editino des "AMA Calabria" Nazionalem Musikwettbewrb in Lamezia Terme statt. Dieser Wettbewerb präsentiert seit über 30 Jahren fuer Tausende jungen Musikern eine bedeutende Gelegenheit sich zu treffen, Ideen und Kenntnisse bezueglich Musik auszutauschen,. In der Kategorie zeitgenössische Musik" konnte sich der junge Akkordeonist Tommaso Arena, Schüler des Maestro Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi als Sieger profilieren. Sein Programm mit Originalliteratur für Akkordeon, darunter Werke von Frank Angelis und Fermin Gurbindo, überzeugte die Jury. Tommaso Arena - geboren 1987, begann mit dem Akkordeonstudium im Alter von 6 Jahren und schloss sein Studium mit Auszeichnung am Konservatorium "Fausto Torrefranca", Vibo Valentia ab. Er hat an zahlreichen Kursen, Wettbewerben, Konzerten und Festivals immer großes Interesse erregen kònnen. Seine Erfolge umfassen: 1. Platz beim II. Internationalen Europäischen Musical "Città d'Acri", 3. Platz beim 7. Internationalen Wettbewerb "FISA Rang ... Harmony 2009 ', in Triest statt, 2. Platz beim Internationalen Wettbewerb "Die Estro Armonico', in Ladispoli statt (RM), 2. bei der Fünften Internationalen Wettbewerb" Città di Greci "(AV), 1. bei den European Music Competition in Philadelphia und 1. beim 32. Nationalen Musikwettbewerb in Lamezia Terme - "Contemporary Musik. Weiters nahm Tommaso Arean mit Solokonzerten bei viele andere Veranstaltungen in Kalabrien teil, wie Rotary Club, Verein Island Music in Brescia und in Athen / Griechenland, Kollaborationen als Solist mit dem Orchester von Pizzo Calabro Limonest. Aufnahmen gab es mit dem Label Fire Music CD 'Edupatès "für Oboe und Akkordeon, Radio Vatikan und der Music Editions Physa. Derzeit spezialisiert er sich mit Maestro Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi. |

 Im März 2010 hat der Akkordeonhersteller Fratelli Alessandrini seine Produktionstaette in G. Marcora, 6 - Industrial Zone Cerretano, Castelfidardo, ehemalige Sonerfisa Fabrik verlegt, wo das weltweit größte Akkordeon von Giancarlo Francenella gebaut wurde. Alle Interessierten kònnen ab sofort das groesste spielbare Akkordeon (Guinness Buch Eintrag) bewundern, wo es neben der Exposition von Fratelli Alessandrini Akkordeons in guter Gesellschaft ist. Eine ausgezeichnete Gelegenheit, das Instrument höchster Handwerkskunst LIVE zu erleben und vielleicht sogar zu spielen. Das Mega-Akkordeon geht mit Alessandrini, wann immer sich eine gute Gelegenheit bietet auf Reisen zu verschiedene Veranstaltungen in Italien. Kürzlich wurde das Instrument auf dem 5. Akkordeon Festival in Notou Sounadour "Robilante" (Cuneo), vom 15. bis 16. Mai 2010 ausgestellt. |

 Die 39. New Zealand Accordion Championships & South Pacific Accordion Championships & Festival "finden am Samstag, 5. Juni und Sonntag 6. Juni im Raye Freedman Arts Centre in Epsom, Auckland statt. Wahrend dieses Wettbewerbes werden auch Neuseeland Kandidaten für den 2010 Coupe Mondiale in Kroatien ausgewaehlt. Der Gast Künstler der Veranstaltung ist Qian (China), 2009 Coupe Mondiale Akkordeon Piano Kategorie Gewinner, der dabei ist seine Ausbildung am Sichuan Musikkonservatorium in China zu absolvieren. Sie wurde am 17. Mai 1985 wird in zwei Konzerten spielen: Samstag, 5. Juni von 17.00 bis 18.00 Uhr und am Abschlusskonzert am Sonntag 6. Juni um 14.30 Uhr. Ehrengast wird Kevin Friedrich, langjàhriger CIA Präsident, der im letzten Jahr sein Amt zurùckgelegt hat und nach Neuseeland reiste, um dem die NZAA Ausschusses, mit Präsident John Statham (Foto oben), für die hervorragende Organisation des 2009 Coupe Mondiales (Coupe Mondiale) in Takapuna, Neuseeland zu danken und den Neuseeland-Wettbewerbsteilnehmern für ihre exzelltenten Darbietungen zu danken. Das neuseeländische Orchester spielt unter der Leitung des populären NZ Komponisten, Dirigenten, Arrangeur Gary Daverne (ONZM). Ein weiterer Hòhepunkt des Wochenendes ist die South Pacific Accordion Championship Kategorie mit Edward Giffney (Foto Mitte) und Bor-Kuan Song (Foto unten), beide erfolgreiche 2009 Coupe Mondiale Kandidaten: man erwartet einen spannenden Wettkampf mit einem sehr hohen Leistungsniveau.  On May 19th Rosemary Wright was the guest at Stockport Accordion Club. She wasn't feeling at all well before she began playing, then – like the trouper she is - rallied and turned in a 5 star performance. Rosemary played ‘Washington Post’, ‘Carte Postale’, ‘Temptation Rag’, ‘Petite Fleur’, ‘A Night in Montmartre’, ‘The Stack of Wheat’/‘Harvest Home’/‘The Merry Reapers’ (hornpipes), ‘Chineuse’, ‘Intermezzo’ from ‘Cavalleria Rusticana’, ‘Scherzo’ (J.Gart), ‘Preludio’ (A. Volpi), ‘Caracole’ (R. Binge), ‘Blue Danube’, ‘Danza Orientale’ (Fugazza), Prelude to Act 3 from ‘La Traviata’ (Verdi), ‘Pupazetti’ (L. Fancelli), ‘The Flying Dance’, ‘Flight of the Angels’ (C. Carozza), ‘The Flying Scotsman’, ‘The Dancing Dustman’/’Woodland Flowers’/’The Highland Brigade’ (Felix Burns), ‘Indifference’ (J. Colombo/T. Murena), and ‘Douche Ecossaise’ (A. Verchuren/G. Ghestem). This was a varied and entertaining programme, and with much for the more discerning ear to appreciate. Rosemary Wright, who last played at Stockport AC in 2005, is one of Britain’s finest and most accomplished accordionists. The Stockport AC Band (MD Derek Stubbs), opened the concert, performing the march ‘150 Squadron’ (Clifford Wood), ‘Waltz for Eva’ (John Jones), and the 1930s tango ‘La Morenita’ (Matyas Seiber). Playing supporting spots were Betty Molloy/Christine Green, Dave Holt (playing his first ever spot in public – well done!), John Higham, Ray Peacock, Rob Howard, and John Trigg/Derek Pritchard. | Last week there was a concert, ‘Gypsy romances and not only...’, held in the Silesian Piast castle courtyard, Plac Zamkowy, Brzeg, Poland, featuring Swietlana Ermolenko (Moscow) - vocals and guitar with the ensemble S-ART, from Wroclaw, whose members are Olexiy Suslov? (accordion), Monika Gorzelana (violin), and Piotr Wróblewski (percussion). Swietlana Ermolenko together with accordionist Olexiy Suslov? have performed concerts in many countries, including Austria (Graz), Belarus (Minsk), Lithuania, Germany (Berlin, Halle), Poland (Warsaw, Wroclaw), Russia (Moscow, St.Petersburg), Ukraine (Kiev), and Italy. | The ‘Polka Times’ newspaper, started in 2003, is owned and published by Editor Paul Mirkovich in Pennsylvania, USA. In January 2008, Polka Times purchased the Polka News published in Michigan and expanded its readership. The monthly Polka Times gives details of dances and festivals, new CD releases, polka events, clubs, the musicians, trips, what’s new in the polka world, etc. Photos are printed in color and the newspaper includes a section, ‘Accordion Today!’, with accordion related news from the polka scene. | The Baillies Mills Accordion Band, which recently celebrated its 70th Anniversary with a concert and a capacity audience at the Waterfront Hall, Belfast, Northern Ireland, raised a substantial amount for various charities. Charities benefitting from the proceeds are Marie Curie Cancer Care, Camphill Communities Trust (N.I.) and Stepping Stones (N.I.) Each will receive a cheque for £2,500. The Baillies Mills Accordion was invited to lead the Independence Day Parade in Bergen, Norway on May 17th 2010 - the first accordion band from the UK who have been invited to join the celebrations and mark the day in 1814 when Norway became independent from Denmark. |

 Bor-Kuan Song is 17 years old and began learning the accordion at the age of 12 with Chelsey Mayes. He is a first year student of Auckland University, studying for a Bachelar of Music degree, majoring in accordion performance, with Tatiana Lanchtchikova as his tutor. Bor-Kuan has achieved Grade 8 in piano, flute and theory in the ABRSM exams. He also obtained Grade 8 in accordion in the Trinity-Guildhall exams, including gaining the highest mark in New Zealand for Grade 7 music. Last year, Bor-Kuan was awarded ‘Top in the World’ for both his AS level and A level Music exams in the Cambridge International Fellowship Awards, which he sat in May and November respectively. Bor-Kuan was one of the New Zealand candidates competing in the 2009 Coupe Mondiale and gained 7th place in the Junior Coupe Mondiale class. |

 A pop rock band and an ensemble of pop folksters have combined to win Slovenia's place in this year's Eurovision Song Contest with ‘Narodno zabavni rok’, a song combining accordion-pop music with rock rhythm.Ansambel Roka Zlindre & Kalamari won a televised national contest, against 13 other bands and singers, to win entry qualification to the final of Saturday evening. May 29th, in Oslo, Norway. |

 The Cooperativa Sociale Accademia Musicale ‘Nuccio Fiorda’, in collaboration with the Cooperativa Sociale Giovanile ‘Antonio Cardarelli’, organizes the first European Accordion Festival in Campobasso on June 5th. This new cultural event follows the five previous editions of the National Festival that has received plaudits from many worldwide known professionals and can now claim the title of a ‘European competition’. The European Accordion Festival will see the collaboration of 2 different Italian regions, Molise and Emilia Romagna, who share the great passion for this instrument. * The contest is open to all accordionists, male and female. * The competition will be held in the Convitto Nazionale ‘Mario Pagano’, Campobasso, Molise * Participants may perform with acoustic instruments of all kinds and brands and may subscribe to various categories presenting applications for registration. SECTIONS, CATEGORIES AND MUSIC DURATION: The sections are: CLASSICAL SECTION - SECTION VARIETE '- JAZZ SECTION. Categories for classical and Varieté: A) up to 10 years old: free program lasting up to 7 minutes; B) up to 12 years old: free program lasting up to 8 minutes; C) up to 15 years old: free program lasting max of 9 minutes; D) to 18 years old: free program lasting max 10 minutes; E) at any age: free program lasting max 12 minutes. For the jazz section: - Free program lasting max 12 minutes with accordion solo. - Compulsory piece entitled ‘Dallas’, by Antonio Colagiovanni, with accompaniment of a jazz quartet (provided by the organization). | An ‘Accordion Summer Course’ takes place in La Roche, Switzerland, August 16th to 20th. The teachers include Fanny Vicens, Marie-Andrée Joerger, Vincent Lhermet, and Sylvain Tissot. This course has been arranged in response to the success of the 2009 accordion summer course in France, and is designed for all ages, all levels (from beginner to advanced), and all styles. The course content includes individual tuition, an approach to chamber music in small groups focusing on one specific theme (the fugue, contemporary music, tango, folk music…), accordion ensemble.
