Freeland Barbour Book 'The Music and The Land' & CD, Edinburgh – UKby Rob Howard |

 One of Scotland's leading book publishers, Birlinn, have released a book containing of all the compositions by popular accordionist Freeland Barbour, illustrated with some superb high-quality photography by Cailean Maclean from Skye, and a number of other photographers. This is a 2-volume in a slipcase, full colour, coffee-table style publication, and will be launched officially at a special concert and dance night at The Queen's Hall in Edinburgh on Saturday October 10th, 7.30pm (see Queen's Hall website for full details). Special guests for the launch will be Phil Cunningham, Simon Thoumire, Gary West, Jane Gardner, and Billy Kay (compere), with The Occasionals band, featuring Freeland Barbour, providing music for the dance part of the evening. Alison Smith and Neil MacMillan will be joining Freeland, Kevin Macleod, Mairi Campbell and Gus Millar. We do hope as many of you as possible will be able to join us for what promises to be a super evening. In addition to the main publication, 'The Music and The Land' there is a 14-track sampler CD by The Occasionals available free with each copy of the book purchased. Freeland Barbour is well-known to all in Scottish music circles as accordionist, pianist band leader, record and BBC Radio Scotland producer, and composer.
