Roland et Dallapé: La tradition rencontre l’innovation! Stradella, Italie

Le V-Accordéon, avec la technologie innovante de Roland (Roland V-Accordion), pourra reproduire parfaitement les sons des fameux accordéons acoustiques Dallapé, et cela depuis les tous premiers instruments construits en 1876 jusqu’aux modèles les plus récents.

Mariano Dallapé a élaboré son premier accordéon en 1871 et a commencé la production en 1876 à Stradella, près de Pavia, en Italie. Des méthodes de production et des matériaux de haute qualité en ont fait un instrument très remarqué dès le départ.

Fin 2010, l’entreprise Dallapé a fermé, mais grâce à l’extraordinaire coopération avec la Roland Corporation, les sons des différents modèles d’accordéons Dallapé resteront disponibles dans le futur. Roland & Dallapé Report.

Le V-Accordéon (V-Accordion) peut importer des sons digitaux grâce à son port USB. Le 11 mars 2011, le professeur Sergio Scappini (photo de droite) donnera un concert au Teatro Sociale, à Stradella, en utilisant les sons Dallapé. Ce sera la première démonstration publique des sons Roland-Dallapé sur le V-Accordéon (V-Accordion).

Le lancement officiel des sons Dallapé sera fait à la Frankfurt Musik Messe, du 6 au 9 avril, avec la sortie de la clé USB contenant les échantillons de sons des six modèles Dallapé les plus connus, ainsi qu’un livret relatant l’histoire de Dallapé.

Big Squeeze Accordion Contest, Houston – USA

Les auditions pour le ‘Big Squeeze Accordion Contest’ 2011, organisé par Texas Folklife, aura lieu à Houston, Texas, le 11 mars à 19h30. L’adresse est :Eldorado Ballroom, 2310 Elgin Street, Houston. Les auditions auront lieu de 19h30 à 21h30 et les participants doivent être présent à 18h30. Les auditions sont ouvertes au public et gratuites.

Le Big Squeeze est ouvert aux accordéonistes texans jusqu’à 21 ans, et jouant de tous les styles de musique traditionnelle : Cajun; Allemande, Tchèque, Polonaise, Tejano, Conjunto, and Norteño, Western, and Zydeco. L’accordéoniste de Zydeco Keyun Dickson, champion , ainsi que Johnny Ramirez, champion 2008, joueront durant la soirée.

Les demi-finales auront lieu à Austin le 30 avril au Bob Bullock Texas State History Museum. Au maximum quatre finalistes seront sélectionnés pour concourir au Festival Accordion Kings & Queens, le 4 juin. L’an passé, il y avait plus de 6000 spectateurs.

Le vainqueur du Big Squeeze 2011 recevra un prix d’une valeur de 4500$ contenant 1000$ en cash, un accordéon Hohner et une possibilité d’enregistrement au Hacienda Records in Corpus Christi, ainsi qu’un support promotionnel de SugarHill Records, Hohner.

Collection d’accordéons, Tabriz – Iran

Il y a de nombreuses personnes dans le monde qui possèdent de grandes collections d’accordéons, et Accordions Worldwide a récemment appris l’existence d’une collection située à Tabriz, en Iran. L’enthousiaste Gholamreza Seyed Hasani (photo de droite) a environ 200 instruments de différents types, et prévoit d’ouvrir dans le futur un musée à Tabriz.

Gholamreza Seyed Hasani, marié avec un fils et une fille, est né à Tabriz en 1959 où il travaille en tant qu’ingénieur en génie civil. Il est actuellement le Project Manager d’une construction de barrage. Ses loisirs sont de jouer de l’accordéon et de faire des accordéons Garmon (photo de gauche) personnalisés (c’est un système d’accordéon originaire de L'Azerbaïdjan).

Des accordéonistes attirent des foules au Bit Tourism Show, Milan, Italie.

Des accordéonistes ont attiré des foules au "Bit Tourism Show", qui s'est tenu du 18 au 20 février à Milan.

Faisant partie du spectacle présentant la région des Marches (Italie), le Musée International de l'Accordéon de Castelfidardo (Ancone, Museum Castelfidardo), et les accordéonistes Mirco Patarini (Scandalli, photo de gauche) et Danila Di Paolonicola (Paolo Soprani) étaient invités à se produire et ont captivé le public.

L'accordéon est un facteur important pour le tourisme de la région des Marches et leur contribution a été très appréciée. Article de journal ci-dessous.

Sir George Shearing (1919-2011), New York – USA

Sir George Shearing, the London-born blind pianist and composer died on February 14th in New York, at the age of 91.

A gifted pianist from the age of three, George Shearing later also learned to play the accordion, studying at the London-based British College of Accordionists in the late 1930s. In the 1940s Shearing played a lot of accordion in addition to his rising career as a jazz pianist, and played the distinctive looking Uniform Keyboard system. Shearing made numerous recordings on accordion, many of which have become available on CD in recent years. The CD box set ‘Squeeze Me: The Jazz & Swing Accordion Story’ includes several Shearing tracks.

Shearing was discovered by the jazz critic and pianist Leonard Feather in the late 1930s playing accordion and piano in an all-blind band. From 1947 Shearing lived in the USA, taking out US citizenship, formed the George Shearing Quintet, and created one of the most recognized sounds in jazz. He performed and recorded with the likes of Nat King Cole, Mel Tormé, Peggy Lee, Stephane Grappelli, Buddy DeFranco, Arthur Fiedler, Carmen McRae, and Nancy Wilson.

Shearing has around 300 compositions to his name. His best-known piece, ‘Lullaby of Birdland’, has become one of jazz’s true anthems. He once commented, “I get tired of playing it, but not of collecting the royalties!”

George Shearing became Sir George Shearing in 2007 when he was knighted for his services in music.

‘Come West Along the Road Vol.3’ DVD, Dublin – Irish Republic

‘Come West Along the Road Vol.3’ is the third in a series of DVDs presenting 65 live Radio Telefis Eireann TV broadcasts, dating from 1961 until the present day, by many of Ireland’s best folk musicians, singers and dancers. The total running time is 202 minutes. The RTE studio performances are in both colour and black and white.

The performers include several accordionists, such as Charlie Harris, Vincent Tighe, Dave Hennessy, Sharon Shannon, Ellen Flanagan, Dermot Byrne, Seamus Walshe, John Joe Gannon, and Jimmy Doyle.

Anna Jbanova & Roman Jbanov Musique classique Slave – Russia

Brother and sister, Anna Jbanov (piano) and Roman Jbanov (accordion)

La pianiste Anna Jbanova et l’accordéoniste Roman Jbanov, sœur et frère, se retrouvent le temps d’un duo piano-accordéon autour d’un programme russe spécialement conçu pour les « Journées pas si classiques que ça ». CHAMO, SEMONIOV au piano, ou à l’accordéon, et des pièces d’auteurs russes tels que KONIAIEV, VATZLAV TROYAN en duo.

Dimanche, les Journées pas si classiques que ça... se sont terminées par un voyage entre Paris et Moscou, à la Boîte à musique d’Issoudun. La pianiste russe, Anna Jbanova, et son frère, Roman Jbanov, à l'accordéon, se sont retrouvés le temps d'un duo, mais quel duo ! Ballade en troïka, contes de Noël et du Premier de l'An, tango, ont transporté en musique les spectateurs dans un monde de rêve.

‘14 Years Ago’ – Accordions debut at the Vatican

The news on Accordions Worldwide for the week ending February 28th 1997 contained a report of accordionists from Castelfidardo, Italy, performing during a Christmas event at the Vatican, in the presence of Pope John Paul 11.

For the first time an accordion has made its entrance in the most famous square in the world, colouring with its notes, the magical atmosphere of the Roman Christmas! Last year on the afternoon of the 24th December, during the solemn opening of the Christmas Manger by His Holiness Pope John Paul II, a group of accordionists from Castelfidardo (formed by Massimiliano Pitocco and Renzo Ruggieri) took part in the festive celebrations.

The event, organised by Telepace, has been broadcast by several television channels. The accordionists were introduced by Don Giovanni D'Ercole and Piero Schiavazzi to entertain all the guests, amongst which there were actors, singers and politicians.

In this international atmosphere the accordions from Castelfidardo were played. It was a unique opportunity for the revaluation, promotion and re-launching of this often underestimated musical instrument which is still an integrating part of the Italian musical and cultural heritage.

James Crabb Recital, Adelaide - Australia

Scottish-born Copenhagen-based classical accordionist James Crabb performs a recital at St Peter’s Cathedral, North Adelaide, South Australia, on Thursday March 10th, 6pm. The concert is organized by Recitals Australia, and tickets are available via www.adelaidefringe.com.au

Marco Lo Russo and Kustrakodan Danza, Latina - Italy

Accordionist Marco Lo Russo and Kustrakodan Danza perform on February 26th, 9pm, at the Teatro A. Cafaro, Latina.

The show features the “Sensuality of tango, Mediterranean feeling and jazzy contaminations”.

Choreography is by Maria Cristina Tisato and Francesco Milana, and the dancers are Diego Millesimo, Erica De Giovanni, Atelier Modum and Franco Ciambella.

Jenny’s Accordionists in Concert, Colchester – UK

The highly accomplished Jenny’s Accordionists (MD Jenny Neal) perform in concert on Saturday February 26th, 3.30pm to 6pm, at the Salvation Army Church, Butt Road, Southway, Colchester, Essex CO3 3DA. Admission by donation; refreshments; programmes £2.

Jenny’s Accordionists were founded in the 1960s, and have performed around Europe with great distinction. For this concert they will be augmented by professional instrumentalists performing on bassoon, clarinet, saxophone, trombone and vibraphone.

Milos Milivojevic’s Concerts Next Month – UK

Serbian born accordionist Milos Milivojevic, first prize winner at international competitions in Germany, France, Italy and Denmark, is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London. He has given many recitals internationally, has performed live on Radio BBC 3, and has performed in London venues such as the Wigmore Hall, Purcell Room, St John Smith Square, St James Piccadilly, St Martin in the Fields, and at the Foundation Day, an award ceremony attended by HRH The Princess Royal.

37th Accordion and Fiddle Championships, Falkirk – Scotland, UK

The 37th Accordion and Fiddle Championships take place on March 5th at Inchyra Grange Hotel, Polmont, Falkirk, Scotland.

The competitions include Traditional Accordion Solo, Polka and Musette, with other sections including Scottish Bands and Trios. There are also fiddle sections.

This year’s selected composers are Ian Powrie – accordion, Michael Philip – fiddle.

The adjudicators for accordion include Jimmy Cassidy, Alan Kitchen, Jacqui Raeburn, Alastair Wood and Bill Black; fiddle – Gill Simpson, Patsy Reid, Kenny Wilson.

The competitions are followed by a concert, 8.45pm, and ceilidh, 9pm, in the hotel.
