  Le Prix international d’accordéon PIF revient à Castelfidardo pour la 46e édition du 28 septembre au 2 octobre. La tradition de ce prestigieux événement d’accordéon se poursuit, avec plusieurs nouveautés pour 2021.« Se réunir est un besoin très important pour les musiciens du monde entier » – déclare Antonio Spaccarotella, nouveau directeur artistique du PIF – « Vivre véritablement Castelfidardo et revivre le frisson des concerts en contact avec le public, dans une atmosphère sereine et stimulante, c’est comme celui d’une famille ». Ruben Cittadini, Conseiller pour la Culture de Castelfidardo partage également le même avis – « Nous travaillons avec un engagement renouvelé dans l’organisation de l’événement live. « L’engagement de l’Administration est de promouvoir la culture de l’accordéon, patrimoine de notre ville, tant au niveau de la production artistique qu’industrielle » – explique le maire Roberto Ascani – « un projet dont nous sommes particulièrement fiers cette année, après les tristes événements de la pandémie qui nous ont frappés, tant à l’échelle mondiale que locale. Un concert pour les amateurs d’accordéons par deux célèbres accordéonistes, Mirco Patarini et Renzo Ruggieri, aura lieu le jeudi 30 septembre au Théâtre Astra. Ils sont accompagnés par l’Orchestre Philharmonique de Calabre sous la direction de l’exceptionnel Filippo Arlia avec un programme de musique assurément adorée.   Un orchestre de « 100 accordéons en concert » dirigé par Enrico Melozzi et accompagné de la soprano Estìbaliz Martyn (photo de gauche), se produit en concert à l’Arena Sferisterio de Macerata, en Italie, le 27 juillet 2021.« Imaginez 100 accordéons sur scène, 100 soufflets s’ouvrant ensemble et des milliers d’instruments jouant à l’unisson. » L’événement était une soirée spéciale dans le cadre du Festival d’opéra de Macerata organisé en collaboration avec PIF Castelfidardo International Accordion Award et Pigini Accordions pour célébrer leur 75e anniversaire et pour marquer le centenaire de Sferisterio. Photo ci-dessus à droite : Massimo Pigini, Federico Pigini et Francesca Pigini. Leur programme comprenait de la musique de Mozart (comme « Very Merry » de Symphony n.40 en sol mineur K550, « Opening » de The Magic Flute K620, et « Der hölle rache » de The Magic Flute K620) et Ravel (Boléro), ainsi que des thèmes populaires et de la musique pop (Prélude de Psycho, Lord of the Peaks, A mano a mano et Nikosi Sikelel’iAfrika - « God Bless Africa »). La coordination musicale est de Massimiliano Pitocco.   Vidéo : Seven Words pour violoncelle, bayan et cordes (Sofia Gubaidulina) interprété par l’Orchestre de Chambre norvégien sous la direction de Per Kristian Skalstad, avec Geir Draugsvoll.La Royal Danish Academy of Music (RDAM) de Copenhague, au Danemark, organisera un festival d’accordéon du 1er au 3 octobre 2021 pour célébrer son 50e anniversaire. L’organisateur du festival, le professeur Geir Draugsvoll (photo ci-dessus à gauche) déclare : « Le département d’accordéon du RDAM de Copenhague est considéré comme un centre international de l’accordéon, avec des étudiants de 9 pays différents et beaucoup d’invités de l’étranger. C’est un plaisir d’inviter tout le monde au 50e anniversaire de l’éducation à l’accordéon au RDAM! Nous célébrons cela en organisant un festival ambitieux de trois jours, du 1er au 3 octobre, où nous mettons l’accent sur l’histoire, le présent et, bien sûr, l’avenir. » Le festival comprendra 8 concerts de musique historique, un concert pédagogique avec des enfants de tout le Danemark, The Virtuosic Accordion, et des portraits de quelques-uns des plus importants compositeurs de l’accordéon. Cela comprend une première mondiale de Sofia Gubaidulina, une première mondiale de David Lang, la visite des compositeurs Martin Lohse et Staffan Mossenmark et beaucoup de nouvelles pièces merveilleuses de jeunes compositeurs américains. Les étudiants de l’Académie de Sibelius, de l’Académie lituanienne de musique et de l’Académie de musique d’Oslo ont été invités à participer à des masterclasses par le Prof. Geir Draugsvoll, Claudio Jacomucci, Raimondas Sviackevicius, Bjarke Mogensen et Jose Valente. Ils se produiront également pendant le festival avec des étudiants du RDAM. Frode Andersen, Geir Draugsvoll, Bjarke Mogensen, Radu Ratoi, Jostein Stalheim, Sini Ström, Hanzhi Wang et bien d’autres se produiront en concert. Tous les concerts seront diffusés en direct, y compris les premières. Tous les événements auront lieu à l’Académie royale danoise de musique. | Au cours du dernier mois, la vedette pop chinoise Zhang Jie a sorti son dernier album « You Deserve Better » titre par titre. Rachael Xu, accordéoniste de onze ans de Chengdu, en Chine, a été choisie par l’auteur de chansons singapourienne Eric Ng, après avoir vu sa performance gagnante au Zhongsin International Music Competition, pour jouer de l’accordéon dans l’une de ses compositions. Il l’a invitée à jouer dans le quatrième single « Take a Look ». En raison des restrictions liées aux voyages liées à la COVID-19, l’enregistrement audio a été enregistré à Chengdu, et Eric a dirigé le processus en direct dans le cadre de réunions en ligne. La piste a connu un succès immédiat avec plus de 3 millions d’écoutes en un peu moins de deux heures. Rachael Xu, étudiante de Grayson Masefield, est une multiple lauréate internationale pour son groupe d’âge et avait prévu une tournée internationale de concerts en 2021 (Chine, Singapour, Corée et Japon) qui allait donner tous les profits au Conseil international de la musique (IMC), ONG de l’UNESCO. Malheureusement, la tournée a été reportée en raison des restrictions liées à la COVID-19. Max Fage-Pederson, directeur de la radio danoise à Copenhague, a organisé un entretien avec Rachael Xu à propos de son soutien à l’IMC. Il jouera également certains des enregistrements de Rachael pour le public danois. Rachael est la première des jeunes artistes du Titano, un projet de Titano Accordéons visant à aider les jeunes accordéonistes à se perfectionner et à interagir avec les jeunes pour promouvoir l’accordéon, la musique et l’éducation des jeunes. Rachael Xu s’est produite sur son tout nouveau Titano Infinite Horizon, un accordéon entièrement personnalisable, pour ce nouvel album record de la pop star Zhang Jie. |

  Ksenija Sidorova donnera un concert au George Enescu International Festival à la Radio Hall de Bucarest, en Roumanie, le 25 septembre à 13h30.Après son concert réussi aux Proms de la BBC en septembre (article de presse : http://www.accordions.com/news.aspx?d=17-Sep-2021&lang=fr#art18025), Ksenija s’est ensuite rendue aux Pays-Bas pour se produire avec Camerata RCO (membres du Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra) à Amsterdam. (photo ci-dessus à droite). Leur programme comprenait des œuvres du dernier album de Ksenija « Piazzolla Reflections » et des œuvres originales écrites pour accordéon par Franck Angelis, Sergey Akhunov et deux pièces de l’accordéoniste et compositeur italien Pietro Roffi, « Nocturne » et une nouvelle version de « Is There A Place In Your Heart » pour accordéon et quintette à cordes. Le même soir, ils étaient les invités d’une émission de télévision classique amusante Podium Witteman sur la chaîne de télévision NPO2. La 25e édition du Festival international George Enescu a débuté le 28 août et se poursuivra jusqu’au 26 septembre 2021. Ksenija se produira à ce festival avec le Dogma Chamber Orchestra, dirigé par Mikhail Gurewitsch. Au programme : Séquences pour orchestre à cordes (Cornel Taranu), Viva Voce – Concerto No. 2 pour Bayan (Efrem Podgaits), In Nomine (Gavin Bryars), Seven Rhymes for Glory (Mikhail Gurewitsch) et When Ingrid met Capa (Michael Nyman). |

| The IX All-Russian Pop Music Competition "Merry Accordion" will take place in Nizhny Novgorod from December 2nd to 5th, 2021. The competition will be held in four categories: Solo performance (for piano & button accordion and for other reed instruments); Ensemble performance; Art of improvisation; Orchestral performance. Solo age groups include: "Debutant" - soloists (up to 10 years old) "A" - Younger (under 12 years old) "B" - Medium (up to 15 years old) "B" - Youth (up to 18 years old) "G" - Concert performers (no age limit). "Ensemble Performance" category is for ensembles of no more than 8 players and must include accordion: "D" 15 years and under) "E" - no age limit "Art of improvisation" - no age restriction "Orchestral Performance" is for Children's orchestras (orchestras of music schools, art schools and palaces of children's creativity), Student orchestras (orchestras of secondary and higher educational institutions) and Professional orchestras. The participation of a button accordion or accordion in the orchestra is mandatory. The competition will be held in two rounds: Round I - qualifying Round II - final The jury will consist of Yuri Brusentsev (Chairman), Gennady Mamaikov, Vitali Dmitriev, Eduard Akhanov and Venedikt Peunov.   The 6th Rising Stars Grand Prix 2021 International Music Competition Berlin was held online this month. The online competition included age group categories for soloists and chamber music duos to sextets, in a variety of instruments including the accordion. Competitors chose a free program of any classical music period (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Contemporary etc.), as well as folk/traditional music or jazz. Results: 1st Prize: Senior (19 Years and over) – “Gemini Duo” (picture above left) which consists of twins Wanchen Zhao and Wanxu Zhao (China) who are Bachelor students under Professor Geir Draugsvoll at The Royal Danish Academy of Music. 1st Prize: Senior (19 Years and over) – Accordion & Flute Duo of Raphael Brunner (Austria - accordion, picture above right) and Juan Bueno (Colombia - flute). Due to the ongoing situation with Covid-19, the 2021 Prize Winner Concert, which was due to be held in the Philharmone Berlin, has been postponed to 2022. |

Their program included works by Kramer, Piazzolla, Morricone, Rainbow as well as some of Ruggieri’s own compositions. |

| The International Digital Electronic Accordion Society have rescheduled their Gr8 IDEAS Symposium 4.0 which was due to be held in November this year. The new dates are: January 21st to 30th, 2022. Organisers say that having this extra time for planning will “make sure we don't miss a beat, and that we deliver everything you have come to expect from our Symposium each year. | Video: Folk Trio performing at the 2020 Folk Ratu. “Folk Trio” will entertain at the 3rd “Folk Ratu” Ethnic Festival which will be held at the Varena Cultural Center in Varena, Lithuania on September 28th, 2021 at 6pm. The festival is organized by Etnoprojektai along with the Varena Cultural Center and is supported by the Lithuanian Culture Council. Band members Nerijus Bakula (accordion), Jan Maksimovic (saxophone) and Ineta Meduneckyte (vocals) play a mix of World music, traditional Lithuanian folk songs as well as improvisations of saxophone and accordion masters. | “En Canto” will perform a concert of Forró Music at The Royal Room Outdoor Ave venue in Seattle, Washington on October 1st, 2021 at 8.30pm. “En Canto's sound is fueled primarily by twin accordions and tinged with the jazz backgrounds of several of the musicians. Anchored in the classics and contemporaries of Brazilian Forró, they pay tribute to influences Luiz Gonzaga, Mestrinho, Dominguinhos, Sivuca and many others.” The group features accordionists Jamie Maschler and Gabe Hall-Rodrigues. | The Datastico e. V. Accordion Orchestra will perform a concert entitled “Accordion Music…” Live Again at the Leohaus Olfen in Olfen, Coesfeld, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, on October 2nd, 2021. Due to Covid-19 regulations, the number of spectators is limited to 70 people per concert, so the orchestra will perform three, one-hour concerts in total at 3.30pm, 5.30pm and 7.30pm.  Accordionist Jon Hammond will perform at a Bar Mitzvah with Marc Baum (saxophone - pictured left) at the Synagogue in California on October 9th, 2021. The event celebrates the initiation ceremony of a Jewish boy who has reached the age of 13, is regarded as ready to observe religious precepts and is eligible to take part in public worship. Jon and Marc have played together for most of their lives and will perform a variety of Israeli and Jewish pieces at this event. |

 John Kirkpatrick MBE (picture right) will hold an Anglo Concertina Workshop Weekend at The Church Barn, Bishop’s Castle in Shropshire, England from October 15th to 17th, 2021.Attendees will need an Anglo with not less than thirty buttons, ideally in the commonest key combinations of C/G or G/D. Not suitable for beginners. The workshop will cover how to add chords in the left hand, melodies in the right hand and what dizzy tonalities can be found using this approach, traditional English folk music, Morris tunes, Country dance tunes as well as folk tunes and how to accompany them.
