| Daily Reports from 28 September online at: 2022Castelfidardo The City Council of Castelfidardo (Marche region, Italy), in collaboration with Castelfidardo Pro Loco Tourist Association, calls and organizes the PIF International Competition “Città di Castelfidardo” reserved for accordion soloists and groups, of classical music and other genres and a music festival featuring accordion. The Castelfidardo Municipal Administration is led by Mayor Roberto Ascani, the Castelfidardo Pro Loco headed by Ruben Cittadini, and 2022 PIF Artistic Director Antonio Spaccarotella. At the press conference yesterday they spoke happily about the level of entries, and the positive future with many different styles of music being performed in competitions and concerts. Also speaking was Association Music Marche Accordions (AMMA) President Mirco Soprani and Cesare Sampaolesi of Nugo-Creative Collective. The association Pantonale e.V. has made a name for itself not only in accordion circles with its annually organized festival Philharmonika, which has a different motto every year and also attracts a lot of international attention. Picture above: Chamber Philharmonic Hall of Berlin Picture report: 2022Peace Pantonale decided this year to hold a peace festival in the Berlin Philharmonic and at the Brandenburg Gate, due to the current geopolitical situation. True to the words of the Dalai Lama, "Peace begins within us". Artists from Ukraine, Russia, France, Italy, Colombia, Austria and Germany attended the festival. Award-winning accordionists Yuri Shishkin, Eduard Akhanov, Volodymyr Kashuta and Vitaliy Shal (guitar) performed the opening concert at the Trinitatis Church Berlin Charlottenburg. The "Kollektiv Duo" Raphael Brunner (accordion) and Juan Carlos Diaz (flute) from Austria and Colombia performed their own compositions such as "Plátano" and "Gameflow". The "Quinteto Respiro" (France), presented their new program "Pictures at an Exhibition" by Modest Mussorgski, arr. Gustavo Beytelmann. The concert programs also included works by Ukrainian composer Viktor Vlasov, Georg Gershwin and Alexander Tsfasman. Shetland Accordion and Fiddle Festival – Scotlandby Christine Johnstone |

| The 33rd Shetland Accordion and Fiddle Festival will be held at the Islesburgh Community Centre in Lerwick, Shetland, Scotland from October 6th to 9th, 2022, organised by the Shetland Accordion and Fiddle Club. Over 60 invited visiting musicians, including Full Scottish Dance Bands, smaller groups and solo musicians as well as countless local musicians, bands and groups form the basis of the festival. The festival is also attended by various Scottish traditional dance groups, enthusiasts and tourists from all over the country. A Grand Dance, the highlight of the weekend for many will be held at the Clickimin Centre on Saturday night. This formal dance attracts over 600 guests and consists of 7 hours of non stop traditional Scottish Dancing with 10 of the best Shetland and Scottish Dance bands providing the entertainment.  The Association Music Marche Accordions (AMMA) is offering the sum of 500 euros to add to the prize of the Coupe Mondiale Winner!The prizemoney has been approved by the CIA Executive committee who hope AAMA President Mirco Soprani (former Mayor of Castelfidardo, picture right) will travel to Zofingen to award the prize. The AMMA is an organization located in the Marche Region of Italy which was founded over 20 years ago. It is a non-profit association that brings together 35 companies including producers and components of the accordion sector, involving most producers. Its main purpose is to promote the accordion and its cultural, productive and artistic heritage at both national and international levels, as well as to pass on knowledge, interest and passion for this instrument to future generations. |

 Video: Klaus Paier, Gerald Preinfalk and Asja Valcic live at St Pauler Kultursommer 2021.Klaus Paier entertained live on accordion and bandoneon at the Jazz, Folk & Bike Club in Syke, Bremen, Germany this week. He was accompanied by Gerald Preinfalk (soprano saxophone, clarinet & bass clarinet) and Croatian cellist Asja Valcic in the concert hall of the Kreissparkasse with its excellent acoustics. “The listeners could revel in the rich timbres of the instruments, which the musicians mastered in all registers.” The trio's current album is released by the German label Skip Records and is titled “Fractal Beauty”. |

  Super Orchestra Day is returning, after a long break due to Covid-19 and is one of the biggest annual accordion orchestra training days in the UK.This year’s event will take place at the Cobham Village Hall (picture right) in Cobham, Surrey, England on October 9th, 2022 from 10.30am to 7pm. Julie Luck, well-respected, teacher, and leader of the London Accordion Orchestra will oversee the day, with over 80 accordionists expected to attend. The event gives accordionists the opportunity to join and meet other players and share in their love for the accordion and the music. An evening concert will be held featuring the groups who have taken part and a mass Orchestra will perform pieces they have worked on during the day. For the first time this year organisers will introduce a “mini orchestra” with a free day of ensemble playing for Under 16's in the rear hall. A range of instruments will be available for children to borrow for the day and encourage kids who have never played the accordion before to give it a try. All players must register.  Accordionist Anthony Schulz (picture left) will perform in a production of “Zulya and the Children of the Underground” at the Melbourne Recital Centre Primrose Potter Salon in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia on November 12th, 2022 at 7pm.Anthony Schulz, along with vocalist Zulya Kamolava, Lucas Michailidis (guitar), Andrew Tanner (double bass) and Phil Collings (drums), will present “the Australian premiere of Komostan, a project created in collaboration with Dutch producer MFO in 2015. Together with the inimitable Children of the Underground, Zulya will perform an acoustic adaptation of the original works.” “The piece follows the legend of Tataeli, the daughter of Aelita, queen of Mars and the first Tatar space explorer Ilgizar Zinnatullin, taking listeners on an otherworldly journey through deep space. Its epic and modal elements produce an elegant and romantic stream of music, shifting pentatonic paradigms toward new horizons and creating an imaginary system of parallel worlds for listeners to become immersed in.” |

 The Scandalli Accordion Factory is the sponsor of the 2022 Video Archive and Education Project, 2022 Coupe Mondiale, 4-9 October, Switzerland.The "Video Archive Education Project" is a project initiated in 2010 by the Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) with assistance from sponsors and Accordions Worldwide. Videos should be online approximately 90 minutes after the live performance or live competition and viewers will have free downloads of Coupe Mondiale competitions playing a vast range of different types and styles of music. The project includes a video of all the Coupe Mondiale categories and their contestants to be kept in the CIA archives in Finland, which over the coming years will become a wealth of historical recordings, including the premiere of many original accordion works and the emergence of upcoming artists at the Coupe Mondiale.  It gives me great pleasure to announce that I have completed the expansion of yet another of my 22 original articles on the AAA commissioned concert works each of which appeared annually in the AAA Festival Journal between 1997 and 2019. This article examines the Adagio and Rondo Concertante, for two accordions & orchestra, by Paul Pisk, and Sonatina, for solo accordion, by David Diamond. http://www.ameraccord.com/aaacommissions8.php As with my previous revisions, this one adds more historical and analytical information than was in the original article plus the new and much needed feature of musical examples. Regarding the latter, a new element in this latest revision is the presence of sound files to accompany the musical excerpts of the Pisk work, thus allowing the reader to hear the excerpts while viewing them in print.   Ricardo Llanos is the new distributor of his two accordion method books: “Acordeón Divertido” (for free bass button accordion - picture above left) and “Pun Txan Txan” (for standard or Stradella button accordion - picture above right). Both methods are written in Spanish, English and Basque.  Volunteers are being asked to help with the video filming of competitions and concerts at the 2022 Coupe Mondiale, Zofringen, 4-9 October 2022. You are volunteering to help the CIA Video Archive and Education Project provide a free service of videos of all the 2022 Coupe Mondiale competitors and concerts to accordionists and teachers around the world. The video filming is not complicated and training is supplied. Volunteers aged from 15 years to retired citizens are encouraged to volunteer and help.
