El ganador de la “Categoría Premio ” de la 34 edición del Festival Internazionale Fisarmonica Castelfidardo fue el Ruso Iosif Purits, siendo el Serbio Petar Maric el ganador de la Categoría D (Clásico) y categoría H (entertainment).
Cagnoni Reeds otorgó su premio anual “Voce d´Oro” a Renzo Ruggieri. Este premio es ofrecido a quienes fomentan el acordeón en la música moderna a través de la interpretación, composición, organización de eventos y promoción en instrumento en los medios.
El premio “ Ballone Burini ” al profesor quien más participantes ha tenido en los puestos más destacados de las categorías ABCD fue para Cao Xiao-Qing (China).
El presidente del jurado fue Alessandro Sbordoni siendo acompañado en su labor por Vicenzo Abbracciante, Franck Angelis, Klaudiusz Baran, Dragan Djokic, Jean-Marc Fabiano, Yuri Ivanovich Febenchuk, Jean-Marie Geiser, Ladislav Horak, Claudio Jacomucci, Francesco Palazzo, Chen Jun, Sergio Petronio, Us Zoia Petrovna, Paolo Picchio, Wang Yu Ping, Germano Scurti, Alexander Selivanov, Romano Viazzani and Borut Zagoranski.

El pasado 16 de Octubre, Friedrich Lips interpretó la obra “Ex Animo” (obra dedicada al propio Friedrich Lips y al Fine Arts-Quartet) para acordeón y cuarteto de cuerda durante el concierto conmemorativo del 60 cumpleaños del propio compositor, Efrem Podgaits. El estreno de esta obra tuvo lugar en Milwaukee en 2003.
Efrem Podgaits es un importante compositor Ruso que ha trabajado extensamente en el acordeón. Ejemplo de sus obras para Bayan es la pieza llamada “ Fantasy in Memoriam of Alfred Schnittke”, “Sonata” para Bayan solo, “Lips Concert” y otros dos conciertos mas para Bayan y orquesta sinfónica.
El más reciente concierto escrito por Podgaits “Viva Voce”, ha sido seleccionado para ser la obra de la tercera fase en la competición de acordeón de Moscú de este año.

Yang Yi Bai en la Plaza de Tiananmen, Beijing - Chinaby Harley Jones

El día nacional que conmemora el nacimiento de China en la famosa Plaza de Tiananmen incluyó un gran despliegue de fuegos artificiales, una tarde de carácter festivo, el joven cantante Zuhai junto a cientos de otros muchos cantantes y al conocido acordeonista Yang Yi Bai.
Este importante evento fue recogido por las cámaras de la Television China (CCTV). Yangs interpretó la pieza “Let´s Dangqi Sculls” acompañado de cantantes y bailarines en Tiananmen.
Este momento fue muy emocionante para todos los acordeonistas y es una importante señal de la gran popularidad que el acordeón está alcanzando en China. |

El dúo “Double Jeu” esta formado por Pierre Laval, originario de Reims y Felician Brut, nacido en el área de Puy de Dome.
Pierre alcanzó el tercer lugar tanto en la CMA Tropheé Mondiale y en la categoría Virtuoso Entertainment de la CIA Coupe Mondiale en el 2007. Actualmente, Pierre ejerce como profesor de acordeón en la región de Rheims. En el mismo año, Felician Brut ganó las competiciones internacionales de Klingenthal, Castelfidardo y CMA Tropheé Mondiale. Es entonces cuando decidieron juntar sus fuerzas en un dúo. “Double Jeu” actuará en Moscú del 4 al 8 de Noviembre.

Accordion Tribe Preparing for European Tourby Rob Howard

The international accordion ensemble Accordion Tribe will make another tour of Europe early in 2010, and their first two dates have been confirmed, with many more to be announced. The line up is likely to be Guy Klucevsek (picture right - USA), Maria Kalaniemi (Finland), Bratko Bibic (Slovenia), and Otto Lechner (Austria). They will be without Lars Hollmer (Sweden), who died earlier this year.

Formed in 1996, Accordion Tribe is an ensemble that seeks to explore the use of the accordion in different cultures and musical contexts. In addition to concert tours and recordings, the ensemble released ‘Accordion Tribe - Music Travels’, a German-language documentary film about the band. It premiered in January 2004, and in 2005 won the Swiss Film Prize for the Best Documentary, as well as the documentary film prize at the Würzburg International Filmweekend. The film features the life of the band on the road and in concert, as well as exploring each individual member in their homelands.

Well-known accordionist from Rostov-on-Don, Vladimir Skiba in late September took part in the TV show "Minute of Fame", which is held at Russia's central television. He played an antique "Osmanski" accordion pictured. He went into the second round of the TV show, which is seen in many countries that were part of the USSR. |

From November 14th to 22nd Stas Venglevski and John Simkus will be touring Austria for the third time. Concerts will take place in 5 different regions including cities such as Vienna, Neunkirchen, St. Stefan, Lienz, Rottenmann, Graz and Perg. Their programme will include not only works by J.S.Bach, I.Albeniz, E.Derbenko, V.Gridin and S.Venglevski himself, but also arrangements of Russian folk themes, French musette, and a medley of ‘favorite melodies’.

Baillies Mills Accordion Band Concert, Belfast – UKby Rob Howard

On Tuesday November 10th, 7.45pm, the Baillies Mills Accordion Band perform in concert at The Waterfront, 2 Lanyon Place, Belfast BT1 3WH, Northern Ireland, to celebrate their 70th anniversary. Three charities benefit from this concert: Stepping Stones, Camphill Communities Trust (NI) and Marie Curie Cancer Care.
The Baillies Mills Accordion Band will be joined by an array of local talent: the Methodist College Girls Choir (twice winners of the UK`s Sainsbury Choir of the Year competition), The Friendship Band (an ensemble of some of the best local brass musicians, playing in carnival style), and Sheelagh Greer, one of Ulster`s finest mezzo sopranos.
Also performing will be local flautist Jonathan Johnston, The Gillian Jones Dancers, and The Leading Ladies, who have emerged from musical theatre companies across Ireland. |

Yuri Shishkin performs in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia on the 25th October at the hall of Concert-theatrical center "Ugra-classic". There will be a most unusual competition. Yuri Shiskin will make a concert-competition with organist Vladislav Murtazin of Kazan. They will perform works of Bach, Vivaldi, Tchaikovsky, Rimsky-Korsakov, Rodrigo, Semionov. The public will then choose who is the winner - the organist or Shishkin?
On 27th October in the same hall will be a solo recital by Yuri Shishkin. The program includes: Rachmaninov, Mussorgsky, Khandochkin, Kusiakov and Semionov. |
