  Munich attend avec impatience la Coupe Mondiale 2021 et les préparatifs de la plus célèbre compétition internationale d'accordéon battent leur plein.La date de clôture des inscriptions est le 25 août 2021. Toutes les informations sur les inscriptions et les voyages/hôtels sont en ligne à Coupe Mondiale Inscriptions en ligne ici : 2021CM-Rules. Téléchargez l'affiche imprimable de l'événement sur : 2021CM-poster.pdf La 74e Coupe Mondiale débutera le 13 octobre 2021 avec un concert festif dans la 'Munich Residenz'. Les temps forts musicaux du concert d’ouverture s’articuleront autour de prestations de différents types d'harmonica (de la famille d'accordéon) dans différentes formations avec de la musique de différents styles et époques. Le concert est destiné à mettre en valeur le large éventail de musiques possible à l’harmonica. Les interprètes incluent le Duo Flac (Andreas et Naoko Nebl) et l'Orchestre d'Accordéon des Jeunes Bavarois. Le concert d'ouverture fait partie des moments forts du 90e anniversaire du Deutscher Harmonika-Verband e.V. (DHV), la Coupe Mondiale 2021 étant organisée par le DHV, le membre allemand de la CIA et également membre fondateur de la CIA. Concert d'ouverture historique de la « Residenz München Allerheiligen-Hofkirche » Le roi Louis Ier fit construire l'église de la Cour de Tous les Saints de 1826 à 1837 d'après les plans de son architecte de la cour, Leo von Klenze. Après des destructions massives lors de la Seconde Guerre mondiale, ce n'est qu'en 2003 que l'église a été rouverte au public. Les parties survivantes du bâtiment d'origine ont été restaurées et les sections manquantes ont été soigneusement remplacées. L'intérieur a ensuite été rénové dans un style simple et moderne et est devenu un très beau lieu pour des concerts d’envergure ou autres événements. Photo ci-dessous. |

  Le Carrefour Mondial de L'Accordéon 2021, 32e édition, se tiendra du 3 au 5 septembre 2021, à Montmagny, Québec, Canada.En raison des restrictions de Covid-19 empêchant de nombreux voyages à l'étranger, l'événement de 2021 mettra en vedette des accordéonistes 100% canadiens qui se produiront sur les scènes en intérieur et extérieur.   Deux créations composées par Renzo Ruggieri (photo ci-dessus) pour accordéon classique et orchestre à cordes seront jouées lors de la 17e édition du Festival international d'accordéon de San Vincenzo la Costa (FISV) qui se tiendra en ligne à San Vincenzo la Costa en Calabre (Italie), du 5 août au 7 2021.Les deux pièces seront jouées le 5 août. La première composition s'intitule « Memento » et sera interprétée par Pietro Pardino, directeur musical de la FISV. La deuxième pièce s'intitule "Farewell Song" (Canto D'Addio) et sera interprétée par Giuseppe Scigliano. L'événement comprend également un concours d'accordéon en ligne avec un jury international qui comprend Renzo Ruggieri. |

 2021 marque le 40e anniversaire du Milwaukee Irish Fest, qui se tiendra au Henry Maier Festival Park à Milwaukee, Wisconsin, États-Unis, du 20 au 22 août. Le thème de cette année est "Célébrer l'esprit de l'Amérique irlandaise".L'événement de cette année comprendra des concerts, des cours et des cours, des expositions sur l'art celtique, l'histoire, la généalogie, la langue gaélique et plus encore, une cuisine d'inspiration irlandaise, un petit-déjeuner irlandais le dimanche matin et bien plus encore. L'événement proposera également un programme en ligne sur le thème irlandais qui comprendra des performances musicales et des conférences culturelles filmées directement d'Irlande.  Titre de l'article du magazine musical The Strad : Le jury du concours en ligne « a regardé 22 secondes de ma vidéo », affirme le participant.Une affaire judiciaire est en cours à Munich concernant un concours de musique vidéo (pas exclusivement d'accordéon) où des frais d'inscription étaient facturés aux participants (140 Euro Chambre à 110 Euro catégorie solo) et grâce à Google Analytics, les participants ont pu voir le montant de temps d'écoute pour leur entrée. Les deux vidéos de l'entrée duo (accordéon et violon) n'ont été ouvertes qu'une seule fois chacune, pendant 22 et 23 secondes, soit un peu plus de deux pour cent !! de la musique présentée. Pour les deux vidéos solo, une n'a pas été trop écoutée du tout. La liste des concurrents se qualifiant pour la 2e épreuve a ensuite été annoncée par l'organisateur. J'ai entendu parler de cas où certains organisateurs de concours de vidéo d'accordéon ont été déçus par une petite minorité de jury, qui n'ont écouté que peu de temps ou pas du tout, certains concurrents. Les organisateurs du concours vidéo doivent à leurs participants vidéo lorsqu'ils acceptent leurs frais d'inscription, de s'assurer que chaque participant reçoive une audition équitable de tous les juges pour toutes leurs performances. Les accordéonistes du monde entier sont réputés pour être des gens sympathiques, amusants et agréables à côtoyer. Nos nombreux événements internationaux d'accordéon avant Covid l'ont démontré tout le temps. Nous voulons qu'il en soit ainsi avec des événements équitables pour tous nos concurrents vidéo. Ce sont des jeunes qui sont notre avenir. | Video: this video features Doris Day singing "Sam, The Old Accordion Man" from the movie “Love Me Or Leave Me” (1955). Accordionist is Dominic Frontier. The movie is a fictionalised account of the career of a jazz singer Ruth Etting and her tempestuous marriage to gangster Marty Snyder, who helped propel her to stardom. The original recording by Ruth Etting had a slower tempo compared with Doris Day’s snappier rendition in which she portrays Ruth Etting. I also saw Myron Floren’s YouTube recording. He played it several years later: one performance was with a soloist and the other performance was with a quartet. |

 Gulf News Waiheke Island, Auckland, New Zealand reported that moving tributes have been paid to music guardian and museum creator Lloyd Whittaker, who died last month aged 88.Lloyd and his wife Joan shared their world-class collection of working instruments with the public after establishing Whittakers Musical Museum in Oneroa, Waiheke Island, 25 years ago. Visitors to Whittakers Musical Museum could tickle the ivories of a Bechstein concert piano grand once owned by Ignacy Paderewski (the Lloyd-Weber of the 19th century) or play New Zealand’s oldest Steinway. Some of the instruments in the collection were brought to the country on sailing ships, then transported up-country on bullock carts. Others were collected from second-hand shops, antique dealers and various old sheds located around the country. Whittaker, an accordionist, also had his collection of accordions, bandoneons and concertinas on display at his Museum. Fittingly, Lloyd and Joan were both named Members of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours, cited for services to heritage preservation and music education. Lloyd “loved sharing music and giving enjoyment… It was total dedication”. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Joan, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A celebration of Lloyd's life was held at the Whittaker's Musical Museum, Artworks Complex, Oneroa. |

| Matt Tolentino released his newest album “Accordion Band” last month, which features accordion band charts published between 1935-1960 by Vitak-Elsnic Company. The CD, which "brings this decades-old music back to life seemed tailor-made for this multi-instrumentalist and accordionist extraordinaire." The 17 songs on the release range from classical to traditional folk tunes, which are performed by Tolentino playing all 5 accordion parts using a selection of instruments from his personal collection.  Duo Aves, which includes Elena Soussi (piano) and Ambre Vuillermoz (accordion) have an “endless concert weekend” with 4 concerts from July 23rd to 26th, 2021.Firstly the duo will perform at the Banon High Church in Banon on July 23rd at 8pm, organised by Banon Culture. On July 24th, they will perform in Manosque at 4pm, followed by Ville de Manosque, Saint Lazare on the 25th at 4pm. Finally on July 26th the duo will give a teaching concert around the imaginary in music, in partnership with La Capsule-MJC Manosque and the Association Jeux d'Anches. This event is free for children. The duo explores the existing repertoire for piano and accordion, including tango and contemporary music as well as performing new pieces from young contemporary composers.  The Folk Trio will perform a concert in the Courtyard of the Lithuanian Small History Museum in Klaipeda on July 30th, 2021 at 8pm. This concert, entitled “Legends about Us”, is part of the Etno folk music event held from 26th to 30th July in Klaipeda, Lithuania, organised by the Klaipeda Ethnocultural Center. The trio includes Nerijus Bakula, an accordionist who has a strong and deep feeling of Lithuanian folk.  We regret to advise that this event has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.The 2021 Bretelles Festival will be held at the Château de Bertholène in Bertholène, France from August 3rd to 8th. The event will include 20 artists, 5 stages, evening concerts, masterclasses and interviews. Artistic Director, Lionel Suarez will run a masterclass from August 3rd to 6th, which is aimed at accordionists who already have an artistic practice and who wish to deepen their knowledge. “It is based on a specific improvement method: several modules offer practical tools; the art of accompaniment, the science of rhythm, orchestral thinking, improvisation, sound, phrasing, this appointment will leave nothing to chance as long as the groove is there!” Children will also be given the opportunity to attend rehearsals, meet the artists, play solo, in duo and in a jam session, as well as taking part in a repair and tuning workshop by Philippe Tchumak (inventor of the Melowtone) who will also give a course in organology.
