  München fiebert dem Coupe Mondiale 2021 entgegen und die Vorbereitungen für diesen berühmtesten internationalen Akkordeon-Wettbewerb sind in vollem Gange.Anmeldeschluss ist der 25. Coupe Mondiale wird am 13. Oktober 2021 mit einem Festkonzert in der 'Münchner Residenz' eröffnet. Musikalische Höhepunkte der Eröffnung sind Darbietungen mit verschiedenen Mundharmonika-Instrumenten (Akkordeon-Familie) in unterschiedlichen Formationen sowie Musik aus verschiedenen Stilen und Epochen. Das Konzert soll die große Bandbreite der Musik zeigen, zu der die Instrumentenfamilie der Mundharmonika fähig ist. Mitwirkende sind unter anderem das Duo Flac, Duo Andreas und Naoko Nebl und das Bayerische Jugendakkordeonorchester. Das Eröffnungskonzert ist Teil der Höhepunkte des 90-jährigen Jubiläums des Deutschen Harmonika-Verbandes e.V. (DHV), dessen Coupe Mondiale 2021 vom DHV, dem deutschen CIA-Mitglied und zugleich Gründungsmitglied der CIA, ausgerichtet wird. Historische 'Residenz München Allerheiligen-Hofkirche' Eröffnungskonzert-Location: König Ludwig I. ließ die 'Allerheiligen-Hofkirche' von 1826 bis 1837 nach Entwürfen seines Hofarchitekten Leo von Klenze errichten. Nach massiven Zerstörungen im Zweiten Weltkrieg wurde die Kirche erst 2003 wieder für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich gemacht. Die erhaltenen Teile des ursprünglichen Gebäudes wurden restauriert und fehlende Teile sorgfältig ersetzt. Der Innenraum wurde dann in einem schlichten modernen Stil renoviert und ist zu einem prächtigen Veranstaltungsort für wichtige Konzerte und andere Events geworden. Bild vom Innenraum unten. |

  Das Carrefour Mondial de L'Accordeon 2021, 32. Ausgabe, wird vom 3. bis 5. September 2021 in Montmagny, Quebec, Kanada stattfinden.Aufgrund der Covid-19-Beschränkungen, die viele Reisen nach Übersee verhindern, wird die Veranstaltung 2021 zu 100 % von kanadischen Akkordeonisten bestritten, die auf Innen- und Außenbühnen auftreten werden.   Zwei Uraufführungen, komponiert von Renzo Ruggieri (Bild oben) für klassisches Akkordeon und Streichorchester, werden bei der 17. Ausgabe des Internationalen Akkordeonfestivals San Vincenzo la Costa (FISV) aufgeführt, das vom 5. bis 7. August 2021 in San Vincenzo la Costa, Kalabrien, Italien, online stattfindet.Beide Stücke werden am 5. August aufgeführt. Die erste Komposition heißt "Memento" und wird von Pietro Pardino, dem musikalischen Leiter des FISV, aufgeführt. Das zweite Stück trägt den Titel "Farewell Song" (Canto D'Addio) und wird von Giuseppe Scigliano vorgetragen. Die Veranstaltung beinhaltet auch einen Online-Akkordeonwettbewerb mit einer internationalen Jury, zu der auch Renzo Ruggieri gehört. |

 2021 jährt sich das Milwaukee Irish Fest zum 40. Mal. Es findet vom 20. bis 22. August im Henry Maier Festival Park in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, statt. Das diesjährige Thema lautet "Celebrating the Spirit of Irish America".Die diesjährige Veranstaltung umfasst Live-Konzerte, Unterricht und Klassen, Ausstellungen über keltische Kunst, Geschichte, Genealogie, gälische Sprache und mehr, irisch inspirierte Küche, ein irisches Frühstück am Sonntagmorgen und vieles mehr. Die Veranstaltung bietet auch ein irisches Online-Programm mit musikalischen Darbietungen und kulturellen Vorträgen, die direkt aus Irland aufgezeichnet werden.  Musikmagazin The Strad Artikelüberschrift: Online-Wettbewerbsjury hat sich 22 Sekunden meines Videos angesehen, behauptet ein Teilnehmer.In München läuft ein Gerichtsverfahren wegen eines Videomusikwettbewerbs (nicht ausschließlich Akkordeon), bei dem den Teilnehmern Startgelder in Rechnung gestellt wurden (140 Euro Kammer bis 110 Euro Solokategorie) und die Teilnehmer aufgrund von Google Analytics die Höhe von Hörzeit für ihren Eintrag. Die beiden Videos des Duos (Akkordeon und Violine) wurden jeweils nur einmal geöffnet, für 22 und 23 Sekunden, etwas mehr als zwei Prozent!! der Musik präsentiert. Bei den beiden Solovideos wurde auch eines gar nicht angehört. Die Teilnehmerliste der 2. Runde wurde dann vom Veranstalter bekannt gegeben. Ich habe von Fällen gehört, in denen einige Organisatoren von Akkordeon-Videowettbewerben von einer kleinen Minderheit der Jury, die nur kurze Zeit oder überhaupt nicht zugehört haben, einigen Wettbewerbern im Stich gelassen wurden. Die Organisatoren von Videowettbewerben schulden es ihren Videoteilnehmern, wenn sie ihre Teilnahmegebühr akzeptieren, um sicherzustellen, dass jeder Teilnehmer für seine gesamte Leistung von allen Richtern fair angehört wird. Akkordeonisten auf der ganzen Welt sind dafür bekannt, freundlich, lustig und großartig zu sein. Das haben unsere vielen internationalen Akkordeon-Events vor Covid immer wieder gezeigt. Das wollen wir mit fairen Events für alle unsere Video-Mitbewerber halten. Das sind junge Menschen, die unsere Zukunft sind. | Video: this video features Doris Day singing "Sam, The Old Accordion Man" from the movie “Love Me Or Leave Me” (1955). Accordionist is Dominic Frontier. The movie is a fictionalised account of the career of a jazz singer Ruth Etting and her tempestuous marriage to gangster Marty Snyder, who helped propel her to stardom. The original recording by Ruth Etting had a slower tempo compared with Doris Day’s snappier rendition in which she portrays Ruth Etting. I also saw Myron Floren’s YouTube recording. He played it several years later: one performance was with a soloist and the other performance was with a quartet. |

 Gulf News Waiheke Island, Auckland, New Zealand reported that moving tributes have been paid to music guardian and museum creator Lloyd Whittaker, who died last month aged 88.Lloyd and his wife Joan shared their world-class collection of working instruments with the public after establishing Whittakers Musical Museum in Oneroa, Waiheke Island, 25 years ago. Visitors to Whittakers Musical Museum could tickle the ivories of a Bechstein concert piano grand once owned by Ignacy Paderewski (the Lloyd-Weber of the 19th century) or play New Zealand’s oldest Steinway. Some of the instruments in the collection were brought to the country on sailing ships, then transported up-country on bullock carts. Others were collected from second-hand shops, antique dealers and various old sheds located around the country. Whittaker, an accordionist, also had his collection of accordions, bandoneons and concertinas on display at his Museum. Fittingly, Lloyd and Joan were both named Members of the New Zealand Order of Merit in the 2020 Queen’s Birthday Honours, cited for services to heritage preservation and music education. Lloyd “loved sharing music and giving enjoyment… It was total dedication”. Lloyd is survived by his wife, Joan, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. A celebration of Lloyd's life was held at the Whittaker's Musical Museum, Artworks Complex, Oneroa. |

| Matt Tolentino released his newest album “Accordion Band” last month, which features accordion band charts published between 1935-1960 by Vitak-Elsnic Company. The CD, which "brings this decades-old music back to life seemed tailor-made for this multi-instrumentalist and accordionist extraordinaire." The 17 songs on the release range from classical to traditional folk tunes, which are performed by Tolentino playing all 5 accordion parts using a selection of instruments from his personal collection. Das Konzert ist Teil des kulturellen Netzwerkprogramms ''Bezaranha", das vom Município de Castro Marim in Faro organisiert wird und "einen wichtigen Beitrag zur Bestätigung der Algarve auf der internationalen Akkordeonbühne bietet und einige der besten Akkordeonisten der Welt hierher bringt". und zeigen, was aus Portugal herausragt". |

 Duo Aves, which includes Elena Soussi (piano) and Ambre Vuillermoz (accordion) have an “endless concert weekend” with 4 concerts from July 23rd to 26th, 2021.Firstly the duo will perform at the Banon High Church in Banon on July 23rd at 8pm, organised by Banon Culture. On July 24th, they will perform in Manosque at 4pm, followed by Ville de Manosque, Saint Lazare on the 25th at 4pm. Finally on July 26th the duo will give a teaching concert around the imaginary in music, in partnership with La Capsule-MJC Manosque and the Association Jeux d'Anches. This event is free for children. The duo explores the existing repertoire for piano and accordion, including tango and contemporary music as well as performing new pieces from young contemporary composers.  The Folk Trio will perform a concert in the Courtyard of the Lithuanian Small History Museum in Klaipeda on July 30th, 2021 at 8pm. This concert, entitled “Legends about Us”, is part of the Etno folk music event held from 26th to 30th July in Klaipeda, Lithuania, organised by the Klaipeda Ethnocultural Center. The trio includes Nerijus Bakula, an accordionist who has a strong and deep feeling of Lithuanian folk.  We regret to advise that this event has been cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.The 2021 Bretelles Festival will be held at the Château de Bertholène in Bertholène, France from August 3rd to 8th. The event will include 20 artists, 5 stages, evening concerts, masterclasses and interviews. Artistic Director, Lionel Suarez will run a masterclass from August 3rd to 6th, which is aimed at accordionists who already have an artistic practice and who wish to deepen their knowledge. “It is based on a specific improvement method: several modules offer practical tools; the art of accompaniment, the science of rhythm, orchestral thinking, improvisation, sound, phrasing, this appointment will leave nothing to chance as long as the groove is there!” Children will also be given the opportunity to attend rehearsals, meet the artists, play solo, in duo and in a jam session, as well as taking part in a repair and tuning workshop by Philippe Tchumak (inventor of the Melowtone) who will also give a course in organology.
