Accordion Noir Festival!, Vancouver – Canadaby Rowan Lipkovits |
The third annual Accordion Noir Festival! took place from September 19th to 26th in Vancouver, Canada. The festival is organized by the CFRO Co-op Community Radio show and podcast Accordion Noir, together with the Vancouver Squeezebox Circle and local accordionist Geoff Berner. The following report came to Accordions Worldwide from Rowan Lipkovits … For the past three years with assistance from Geoff Berner, an autumn festival has been organized. Starting as a one night event, it has grown into eight continuous nights' of concerts. Opening night's accordion parade was rained out by a torrential downpour, but a dozen stalwarts nonetheless wrapped their accordions in garbage bags and squeezed out tunes. Fortunately, the rest of the performances were inside and the festival was enjoyed over the days, by an enthusiastic audience. |
