| El equipo del Conservatorio Hohner de Trossingen, Alemania, y el equipo de Frédéric Deschamps se estan preparando para la Copa Mundial CIA 2011, que este año se celebrará en Shanghai, China. Las pruebas calificatorias francesas para la Copa Mundial de la CIA (Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes) y para el Trophée Mundial de la CMA (Confédération Mondiale de l'Accordéon) se realizarán el 24 de julio en la Selle-sur-le-Bied, Loiret cerca de París. Durante el día, el publico podrá asistir a dos grandes conciertosing internacionales. Uno será un concierto clásico en la iglésia local y el otro, un concierto de variedades en le hall del local. De 3pm a 6pm, las pruebas calificatorias para los competidores de variedades francesas se harán en el hall local . | El existoso Festival AAA 2011 celebrado en Charleston, Carolina del Sur, del 13 al 17 de julio, atrajo gente de todos los Estados Unidos y de Canadá. Joan Sommers recibió el premio a la trayectoria AAA durante el banquete de la cena del sábado. El Festival AAA 2011 incluyó una nueva idea: Jovenes músicos con talento de Charleston tocando instrumentos junto con los jóvenes acordeonistas! Dirigidos por Eddie Monteiro, actuaron la noche del Sábado para una audiencia encantada. Ian Fries, Rita Davidson,Joan Grauman, Gabe Hall-Rodriguez, Karen Malan-Uribe, Randy Martin, Robert McMahan, Joe Natoli, Ray Oreggia, Joan C. Sommers y Mary Tokarski presentaron creativamente muchos workshops que fueron muy informativos y entretenidos. Se desarrollaron muchas competiciones prestigiosas, con los siguientes resultados: U.S. Campeonato Solo Virtuoso: 1º - Andre Fry, Annapolis, MD; 2º - Katrina Cheung, Fullerton, CA; 3º – Quinn Collins, Tempe, AZ. En las categorías de adultos, el ganador Shao Ying de Cheng Du, China, fue todo un éxito en el concierto de entrega de premios. Los jueces de la Competición Internacional de Orquestas, Joan Sommers, Robert McMahan y Frank Busso, Sr., galardonaron a la Martin Music School Accordion Orchestra. Entre los artistas invitados y ensembles participantes estaban: Donna Dee Ray, Walt Kasprzyk, Dr. Robert Young McMahan y la soprano,Joy Bechtler, Ocotrillo Frank Petrilli, Gabe Hall-Rodriguez el ganador del Virtuoso Solo AAA 2010, Joe Natoli, The Connecticut Accordion Orchestra dirigida por Linda Soley Reed, The Martin Accordion Orchestra dirigida por Randy Martin, la aparición especial del K Trio, la ganadora del Roland V-Junior Alicia Baker, de Nashville, el multi-talentoso Jeff Lisenby, el gran acordeonista de jazz Eddie Monteiro, Randy Martin, AAA Massed Band dirigida por Frank Busso, y la 2011 AAA Festival Orchestra dirigida por Joan Sommers. | Bess ha escrito: He diseñado y pintado una vaca para la Austin Cow Parade, se llama "Cowjunto Music". En la foto salimos "Cowjunto Music" y yo con el acordeón de teclas – el otro lado tiene un acordeón de botones. El miércoles 27 de julio, desde las 7pm hasta las 9pm, en el Long Center de Austin, se hará la Cow Parade Preview Party. Entonces se destaparán todas las vacas, que son 55. Me gustaría que vinieran a la fiesta cuantos más acordeonistas mejor, y se unieran al grupo alrededor de mi vaca, y en cuanto se dé una señal, toquen ‘Viva Seguin’ o ‘Jesse Polka’, o ‘Hey Baby Que Paso’. Será divertido. La fiesta es gratuita, pero hay que pagar para aparcar en el Long Center. Podría ser que esto sólo ocurra en Texas!? Mika Väyrynen presenta dos estrenas mundiales, Alcobaca - Portugalby Kevin Friedrich |
 Después de su reciente regreso de Kragujevac, Serbia, este fin de semana, dónde realizó un concierto y una Master Class, el acordeonista finlandés Mika Väyrynen viajará a Alcobaca, Portugal para actuar y participar como profesor en el Festival ‘Cistermusica’, cuyo director artístico es uno de los compositores más famosos del Sudeste europeo, maestro Alexandro Delgado.Como parte del festival, Mika Väyrynen ofrecerá un concierto en solitario el 23 de julio, interpretando obras de Bach, Couperin, Sallinen, Rydman, Väyrynen, y Angelis. En este concierto, Mika estrenará dos nuevos trabajos, ‘Un Moment Amoureuse,’ para acordeón solo, una obra del reconocido compositor finlandés Kari Rydmans, y una obra del propio Mika, ‘Three Finnish Folk Songs’ (utilizando tres melodías folk, una en cada movimiento). Cada una de los movimientos está dedicado a personas importantes de su vida: a sus hijos, "In memoriam" a un amigo, y a su mujer. Para concluir sus actividades en el festival, el 24 de julio, Mika dará una Master Class para acordeonistas en Alcobaca. |

  El Conservatorio ArtEZ de Arnhem, Holanda, ha anunciado el establecimiento el 1 de septiembre de un departamento de acordeón para jazz y pop, y el compositor y concertista de acordeon bosnio instalado en holanda Nihad Hrustanbegovic ha sido elegido como profesor.Además, el 1 de septiembre, Nihad Hrustanbegovic lanza su tercer CD en solitario ‘Live in Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam’. Este album incluye improvisaciones, y arreglos de Nihad Hrustanbegovic de música de Claude Debussy, Miles Davis, Astor Piazzolla, y una nueva composición. ‘Live in Het Concertgebouw Amsterdam’ estará disponible en Itunes. Nihad Hrustanbegovic obtuvo el título de licenciado el 2000, y en el 2002 el título de Master de Música con Cum Laude en el Conservatorio Artez de Holanda. | As part of the buildup to the Rugby World Cup 2011 being held in New Zealand, accordionist Maurice Jones of Accordion House Importer/Retailer was invited to Napier to appear on the TV1 Good Morning Show for the part hosted by Tamati Ellison (picture above). Also filming the event was the French TV station TF1 (picture below). Being featured was the Rugby World Cup 2011 Roadshow display, the World Cup trophy promoting the French rugby game in Napier in September. For the Roadshow visit to Napier, Hawke's Bay residents were asked to "adopt a second team" and support France. To honor the French national rugby team’s participation, the early morning crowd sang the French National Anthem ‘La Marseillaise’, accompanied by Maurice Jones on the accordion and the French and New Zealand TV stations broadcast that. Maurice then performed background music to the Napier portion of the TV1 Breakfast Show. A profiterole Eiffel Tower, French singer and accordion players, and face painting for the kids, helped build excitement for the region's international guest teams. Maurice Jones will return to Napier on September 18th for the rugby game France versus Canada, where he will provide a "French flavor" for the event. The Rugby World Cup 2011 takes place in New Zealand from September 9th until October 23rd, with the final to be played at Eden Park, Auckland. |

 French-born American-based accordionist Julien Labro performed in some of the most beautiful areas of the USA during the month of June. His travels took Julien to California, the Midwest, New York, and Colorado, including performing and leading a workshop at DjangoFest in California. After a lengthy Midwest tour with the ‘Hot Club of Detroit’, Julien headed to the festivals Jazz Aspen Snowmass and Dazzle in Denver, which was an amazing trip. It was his first time in Colorado, and the performances were well received and positively reviewed by the Aspen Times. In July, Julien had the pleasure to reconnect with guitarist Frank Vignola for some shows at the Blissfest Music Festival in Northwest Michigan and more recently in Long Island (NY). Julien Labro and the world-renowned classical guitarist Jason Vieaux have together recorded a new CD, to be released in the autumn by Azica Records. This is an all-Piazzolla recording featuring Julien’s arrangements for guitar and bandoneon, with the Boston chamber orchestra, ‘A Far Cry’. For further information email: julien@julienlabro.com |

 The Accordions Worldwide news for July 18th 1997 included news of a visit to Japan by leading Swedish accordionist and teacher Lars Holm, demonstrating the very international nature of our favourite instrument. Swedish Accordionist To Perform In Japan Contributed by Toru Katou Swedish accordionist Lars Holm will give a lecture and performance on August 2nd, from 2 to 4.30pm, at the Vieplan Theatre, Shinjuku, Tokyo (only a 30 second walk from Shinjukugyoenmae Station of Marunouchi Subway). Lars Holm will play a variety of accordion tunes including Swedish pop music on a chromatic accordion with both free bass and standard bass. In Japan, chromatic and free bass accordions are less popular than piano accordions, which most Japanese accordionists use with standard bass. The admission is 3,200yen. |

He has performed in dozens of countries, premiered many new works, and is one of Russia’s most accomplished musicians. |

 The 8th Bristol Cajun & Zydeco Festival takes place from October 14th to 16th at The Folk House, 40a Park Street, Bristol. The festival guests include visitors from France and Holland as well as top UK bands playing a mixture of traditional and modern Cajun and Zydeco:Fri evening: Madame Beau So’ (France) Sat afternoon: Cajun accordion artist Phil Underwood is back from the USA with his new band Colin and the Crawfish (photo above left). Sat evening: Front Row Zydeco (Holland) Sun afternoon: Acadian Driftwood (photo above right) Sun evening: Chris Hall’s Creole Kings (photo left) Also performing are the Whiskey River Boys at the bar on Saturday and Sunday afternoons, dance workshops by Kay Anderson (Zydeco) and Carol Wilson (Cajun), DJs and MCs Carole (Lil' Queenie) and Nigel (Flying Home) of Swamp Rock Club, London; jamming and a licensed bar and cafe - in short, a "A whole weekend of Louisiana-style music, dance, food, drink and meeting people!" And as it worked out so well last year, the festival again features late night sessions at the Folk House Cafe & Bar on both Friday and Saturday. Tickets will go on sale on Monday August 15th - and ticket prices will remain the same! |

| The second Akkordeon Akut Festival takes place from October 5th to 9th in Halle (Saale), Germany. Guests include The Motion Trio, from Poland, the duo Didier Laloy & S-Tres, from Belgium, the accordion ensemble LAESA (MD Lutz Stark), from Germany, and Attwenger, from Austria. The festival includes a ‘Swing Evening’ with the dancing studio Bela Soso, and the theatre project ‘Accordion Mystery’, featuring well known German actor Thomas Rhümann and accordionist Tobias Morgenstern (picture above).
