 Le congrès d'hiver 2016 de la Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) devait se tenir comme d'usage en février/mars 2017. A l'invitation du membre allemand de la CIA, le Deutsche Harmonika-Verband (DHV), le congrès a été avancé à décembre 2016 pour permettre aux délégués d'assister au Concert de Gala du 70ème anniversaire du 'Nürnberger Akkordeonorchester' (l'orchestre d'accordéons de Nuremberg) dirigé par Stefan Hippe. Vidéo ci-dessus est un extrait de leur concert au World Music Festival, le 6 mai 2016. Le rapport complet de l'événement à: 2016InsbrReport Parallélement, les délégués sont invités à visiter aux mêmes dates le marché de Noël de la vieille ville de Nüremberg, marché célébre dans le monde entier L'organisateur du congrès d'hiver est Georg Hettmann, responsable du DHV Landesverband Bayern, l'un des trois fondateurs de la CIA en 1935. Le Deutscher Harmonika-Verband e.V. (DHV) accueillera également la 74éme Coupe Mondiale en 2021 à Bruschal, Allemagne, laquelle coincidera avec les célébrations de son 90ème anniversaire. Le congrès d'hiver de décembre, les réunions des comités de la CIA et l'assemblée générale des délégués sont programmés pour vendredi soir, samedi et dimanche matinée.  La ville de Dalian a accueilli le second Festival National d'accordéon pour adultes et séniors. Un reportage complet est en ligne à : 2016DalianAprès le succès probant du premier Festival National d'accordéon pour adultes et séniors de 2014, reportage à 2014Qingdao, les éditions suivantes ont été planifiées. L'équipe d'organisation emmenée par le président du festival Sun Jiashen (photo de gauche) s'est mise au travail avec l'aide de partenaires : - La fédération municipale d'Art et littérature de Dalian - La Dalian Musician Association - Les Dalian Muncipal Public Arts. Le genre de musique interprétée était généralement très différent de celui des concours pour jeunes. On entendit beaucoup de musique patriotique plus des chansons et airs très populaires il y a 20-30 ans. L'accent était mis sur le plaisir et des prestations musicales sympathiques appréciées du public. Se produisaient des grands orchestres avec choeurs, des groupes et petits ensembles ainsi que des solistes. Le concept de cet événement à succès en Chine pourrait bien être repris par d'autres associations d'autres pays.  Vidéo: Mrs. Brown's Boys réalisé par CMR Records, 23 Septembre 2016.Entre le 27 octobre et le 20 novembre, le toujours populaire duo irlandais Foster & Allen poursuit sa série de concerts du 40ème anniversaire dans des salles d'Angleterre et du Pays de Galles – voir les dates ci-dessous. Bien peu de gens ont autant fait où que ce soit que Foster & Allen (l'accordéoniste Mick Foster et le chanteur/guitariste Tony Allen) pour faire entendre l'accordéon au public avec un large succès international. En 1979, ils on sorti le single ‘A Bunch of Thyme’, qui devint leur premier N° 1 en Irlande et au Royaume-Uni. D'autres tubes allaient suivre et le duo a effectué de nombreuses, tournée dans le Royaume-Uni, aux USA, au Canada, en Australie, Nouvelle-Zélande et afrique du Sud. A ce jour, ils ont publiés plus de 30 albums best-seller et 13 DVDs, l'ensemble représentant plus de 22 millions d'exemplaires dans le monde entier. Mick Foster a appris l'accordéon avec soeur Agnes Murray et Frankie Gavigan. Ses pricipales influences furent Jimmy Shand et Will Starr. En 1968 et 1970 Mick Foster a remporté le All Ireland Piano Accordion Championship du Fleadh Cheoil. Il a déclaré que son accordéon était la dernière chose à laquelle il était près à renoncer dans la vie. |

 Bradford Accordion Band’s ‘50 Shades of Pink’ joint concert with the ladies choir Pennine Chimes at the Bingley Arts Centre, West Yorkshire, on October 1st raised the impressive sum of £2400 for Breast Cancer Care. An audience member later commented: “A huge thankyou to Bradford Accordion Band and Pennine Chimes for a splendid concert at the Bingley Arts Centre. We thoroughly enjoyed the evening’s musical entertainment and light hearted comedy. Don’t know how you managed to read the music through all that smoke and flashing lights but it was a superb effort. Congratulations to everyone concerned and well done for supporting such a worthwhile cause”. |

| American accordionist Alex Meixner has appeared as a one man band in a TV commercial for Hormel Pepperoni. Alex Meixner comes from a musical family going back four generations. He began performing when he was 6 years old, with his father, Al, in the family band, and he has appeared on more than 50 recordings, including the 1994 Grammy winning ‘Music and Friends’ by Walter Ostanek. Since 1995 he has led his own band. His main instruments are accordion and trumpet, although he can also play keyboards, bass, drums, and many different horns. ‘Polka Freak Out’, his 2007 release, was nominated for a Grammy in 2007. The latter is described on the CD cover as "A collection of songs mixing elements of polka styles from around the world ... on top of a Tex-Mex rhythm section and enveloped in a pop-rock aesthetic." His latest, ‘Three Ring Circus’, mirrors the variety in his live shows. His original songs are mixed in with polkas from many cultures. There is even an Irish dance rocker. And to ensure the disk's polka authenticity, one of the 23 tracks is titled "Is Anything Better than Beer?" | Accordionist Richard Galliano and guitarist Sylvain Luc perform music associated with Edith Piaf this weekend at concerts in Poland, as follows: Saturday October 22nd, 7pm - National Forum of Music, 1 Wolnosci Sq., Wroclaw Sunday October 23rd, 7pm - Silesian Guitar Autumn, Mediateka XXI wieku, Pilsudskiego 16, Tychy Accordion and bandoneon virtuoso, composer Richard Galliano performs in many musical fields, from classical to jazz. He records for the prestigious classical music label ‘Deutsche Grammophon’, and has recorded more than 50 albums, many under his own name and some with many other artists. Sylvain Luc is one of France’s leading jazz guitarists, and he has worked with Michel Legrand, Wynton Marsalis, Bireli Lagrene, Al Jarreau, and many more. The concert will feature the Stockport AC Band (MD Derek Stubbs) and Orchestra (MD Brian Jenkins), the Accordion Spice Trio, and soloists John Jones MBE, Dorothy Brincat, Moira Hague, Helen Rich, Rob Howard, Walter Perrie, Dennis Pepler OBE, Phil Watson, and Pearl Fawcett-Adriano. | Italian accordionist Gennaro Ruffolo will be demonstrating for MusicTech at the Music China 2016 next week in Shanghai, from Wednesday October 26th to Saturday October 29th, Hall E4 Stand 26. Gennaro Ruffolo, from Crosia, Italy, graduated from the Conservatorio G.B. Pergolesi, Ancona, in 2003. He has performed at many festivals, has made several recordings, teaches the accordion, and demonstrates both acoustic and digital accordions and microphone products for MusicTech. | Irish accordionist Alan Kelly and American flautist Steph Geremia are on tour in the southern states as a duo between October 27th and November 14th – see poster. Alan Kelly, from Roscommon, is one of Ireland’s leading piano accordion players, and is widely credited with leading a revival of the instrument in traditional music circles. Alan has a background in traditional Irish music and dance, and is the son of Frank Kelly, an All-Ireland Champion in 1964. Alan won All-Ireland titles on piano accordion and piano, and also with brother John (a flute player) in duets and John Wynne in trios. | This year’s annual ‘Super Accordion Day’ takes place on Sunday October 30th at Ripley Village Hall, Guildford, Surrey GU23 6AF. The day starts at 10am - meet for coffee and registration. 10.30 - 1pm - Rehearsal 1pm - 2pm - Lunch (please bring packed lunch) 2pm - 4.30 - Rehearsal 2 (break around 3.15) This year the evening concert will be at 5.30pm making it easier for those travelling a long way. There will be performances by the Tillingbourne Accordion Orchestra (picture above), Watford Accordion Band, London Intermediate Accordion Orchestra (LIAO), and the Middlesex Accordion Orchestra.
