 Art Van Damme est décédé le 15 Février 2010 après avoir été malade d'une pneumonie pendant plusieurs semaines. Un monument commémoratif dédié à cette grande légende de l'accordéon jazz est maintenant en ligne et vous pouvez ajouter votre hommage à son "Wall Tribute sur l'Art Van Damme monuments du site. Art Van Damme est né le 9 avril 1920 en Norway, au Michigan, et a grandi à Chicago. Art Van Damme a pris l'accordéon piano en 1929 à l'âge de neuf ans, et a reçu une formation classique avant de découvrir le jazz à l'adolescence - inspiré par les enregistrements de Benny Goodman. En 1941, il rejoint l'orchestre de Ben Bernie comme un accordéoniste, puis de 1945 à 1960 il a travaillé pour NBC, spectacle sur «Le Dinah Shore Show ',' Tonight ',' The Dave Garroway Show ', et autres radio et de télévision avec Garroway. Il a enregistré 130 épisodes de 15 minutes 'The Art Van Damme Show' pour NBC Radio, et à compter des années 1940 a aussi connu une carrière couronnée de succès et de durée d'enregistrement prolongée. Van Damme tourné en Europe et est également très populaire auprès des auditeurs de jazz au Japon, et régulièrement gagné les Etats-Unis "Downbeat" lecteur de magazine de scrutin pour son instrument. Il a également fait des tournées en Russie et en Nouvelle-Zélande. En 2005, Art Van Damme, Myron Floren et Dick Contino - trois tout-légendes accordéon américains - ont tous été honorés lors du congrès de Las Vegas Accordéon (Las Vegas Accordion Convention), et l'Art année suivante a été l'invité d'honneur au «Accordéons International 2006 'Festival, tenue à Caister, Royaume-Uni. Art Van Damme, dans ses années de grande écoute, a donné des concerts tant dans les clubs, les hôtels et les scènes de concert à travers les USA et l'Europe que l'on dit qu'il n'a jamais besoin de faire toute pratique. Il était constamment en action, de développer et de perfectionner ses compétences et son répertoire, pionnier de l'utilisation de l'accordéon comme instrument principal de jazz. Si influente a été le style de jeu Art's qu'il a influencé la plupart des accordéonistes de jazz du monde occidental. Un musicologue a fait le commentaire neat suivant: "Le plus branchés chat jamais l'oscillation d'un accordéon, Art Van Damme osé aller là où aucun homme était parti avant: accordéon jazz". Art Van Damme est décédé le 15 Février 2010. Il était âgé de 89 ans, et avait été malade d'une pneumonie pendant plusieurs semaines. Il avait trois enfants et six petits-enfants. Bien qu'il ait pris sa retraite en Arizona, puis à Scramento Californie, il a continué à s'acquitter de près à l'âge de 90 ans.  'Nauji Vejai »(« The Winds of Change ») est un nouveau projet en Lituanie que seks d'impliquer les accordéonistes plus jeune d'une vie musicale active. L'idée est généré par Sviackevičius Raimondas accordéoniste, maître de conférences à l'Académie de musique lituanienne de Vilnius. Photo du haut: lien direct vidéo sur Internet à Londres. L'objectif du projet est celui des jeunes avec de nouvelles idées de présentation de l'accordéon, de manière appropriée - moderne et classique de la musique. Accordéonistes association lituanienne (LAA) a réussi à recueillir plus de 60 jeunes accordéonistes et potentiels et d'établir une section junior. Ce projet permet aux jeunes lituaniens de se développer comme des musiciens professionnels et aussi comme organisateurs qualifiés. Le 5 Février, LAA Junior Section a tenu sa première réunion à Klaipėda. D'accordéonistes venant de partout dans le pays sont venus à la discussion ouverte-conférence. Ils ont parlé des problèmes existants et les solutions possibles, a examiné les moyens de présenter l'accordéon au monde de la musique classique. Lors de la conférence, ils ont organisé un lien vidéo en direct avec les accordéonistes de la Royal Academy of Music de Londres. Raimondas Sviackevičius introduit l'idée principale du projet et aux activités prospectives en Lituanie. Le professeur Owen Murray et professeur invité en provenance de Russie, Friedrich Lips, a répondu souhaitant la meilleure chance pour le traitement du projet. En outre, cette interaction Internet a donné une chance pour les étudiants des deux pays de communiquer, de discuter et d'échanger des opinions différentes. En dehors de quelques problèmes techniques à Londres, la liaison vidéo a été fructueuse et a démontré une bonne image des organisateurs de la Lituanie. L'événement s'est terminé avec un concert de gala à massifs Klaipeda University, qui a été absolument complet! Le programme du concert comprenait un large éventail du répertoire du baroque à la musique d'accordéon d'origine, impliquant plus de 20 jeunes prometteurs et déjà reconnu les artistes. Le projet effectuera une visite de plusieurs villes en Lituanie que possible. Maintenant, il va être Easer à organiser des manifestations futures, car les jeunes sont déjà intéressés et inspirés. La prochaine réunion et concert aura lieu dans la ville de Siauliai en début de Mai, en célébrant la Journée mondiale de la Accordéon (World Accordion Day).  'Les As du Musette - Gus Viseur in Brussels' is a compilation CD of vintage recordings made in Brussels during the war years by leading musette accordionist Gus Viseur, playing alongside numerous top jazz/swing musicians. Viseur was the first accordionist of significance to play jazz in the Hot Club style, having mixed socially and played with 'Hot Club de France' stars Django Reinhardt and Stephane Grappelli, and their like in the 1930s. These recordings, which are really very much an ensemble effort, make great listening, and are sure to appeal to those who like the Hot Club jazz style. The sound quality is excellent, the playing is fantastic, and the music is lively and uplifting. The CD, available via Amazon, also includes informative sleeve notes in French and English. Belgian-born Gus Viseur (1916-74) moved to Paris in the early 1930s, and became one of the best-known musette accordionists of his era. His musette-based jazz style anticipated later developments in jazz on the accordion. |

| The Harry Hussey ‘80th Birthday Year Tour’ continues with a concert at Harlow Accordion Club, also starring Steve Roxton and The Harlow Accordion Club Band on Thursday February 25th, 7.30pm, at The Links Social Club, Parsloe Road, Harlow, Essex, CM19 4RT. The organizer is Jean Hanger. Harry Hussey’s tour is also a fund raiser on behalf of ‘Accordion Aid’, set up by Charlie Watkins to raise money for homeless people.  On Thursday February 25th, 8pm-12pm, London-based Russian accordionist/vocalist Igor Outkine and violinist Elizabeth Harrison perform at The Chameleon Club Night, Bethnal Green Working Men's Club, 42-44 Pollard Row, Bethnal Green, London E2 6NB.Igor Outkine performs international hits by ABBA, Queen, Beatles, Smokie, etc, and Russian pop hits from 1960s, 70s and 80s from the repertoire of Yuri Antonov, Machina Vremeni, Muslim Magamaev, Alexandr Rosenbaum, etc, plus some Russian folk and gypsy songs and Hot Club Jazz.  The 38th Kleinen Tage der Harmonika (little days of the accordion) on 27/28 February 27th and 28th will take place in the in the Music City Klingenthal, which has produced accordions since 1852.Young accordionists from Saxony, Thuringia and Bavaria, and the Czech Republic will meet here to demonstrate their skills in competition and to win the coveted prizes on offer. For many participants of recent events the competition was a foundation for their participation in the annual Klingenthal International Accordion Competition, held in May. The ‘Little Days of Harmonica’ is a living example of the realization of the idea of nations coming together in harmony, and is an integral part in the cultural life of the city Klingenthal. On Saturday February 27th, 7pm, a concert will take place in the auditorium of the Amtsberg with the Klingenthal Accordion Orchestra, under the direction of Karl Lipsius, and on Sunday February 28th, 2.30pm, the winners of the 38th Kleinen Tage der Harmonika will play in the final concert.  On her forthcoming tour, accordionist Karen Street reveals the influences behind her music, playing tracks from her latest CD ‘Another Story’.  On Saturday March 27th a series of instrumental workshops, organised by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, take place at Scoil na Mainistreach, Oldtown Road, Celbridge, Kildare, Republic of Ireland. The tutors are:• Fiddle – Tony Linnane and Michelle O’Brien. • Anglo concertina – Noel Hill • Banjo – Brian McGrath. • Flute – Sarah Jane Woods. • Button accordion – Danny O’Mahony. • Tin Whistle – Seán Ryan and Méabh Ní Lochlainn. • Bodhrán - Junior Davey. • Traditional singing – Edel Vaughan • Steps and Sets – Gerard Butler The day starts in Scoil na Mainistreach, Celbridge at 10.45 with registration and grading. The classes follow from 11.30am to 2pm. There is a short break from 2pm to 2.30pm, during which, sandwiches, tea, coffee, water and soft drinks will be provided free of charge. The classes continue at 2.30pm and finish at 4.30pm. The ‘Grand Concert’ starts at 8pm in the Glenroyal Hotel, Maynooth, that night where all the tutors from the workshops will perform.
