Hotel Parco in Castelfidaro Becomes an Accordion Theme Hotel - Italy

Hotel Parco
On Saturday April 13th a wonderful new event took place at the Hotel Parco in Castelfidardo, where the majority of accordionists and fans coming to Castelfidardo have stayed at least once, in past years.

Hotel directors Milly Cianforlini and Laura Davezza decided to dedicate their hotel to the accordion and invited accordion producers/manufacturers to take part in a “Welcome” afternoon. Music was supplied by the Accordion Orchestra (from the Marche region Tonino) and young children from the Paolo Soprani Music School.

"Don Bruno" the priest of Castelfidardo was present to bless the event and this new idea. Also present was Roberto Ascan (town Mayor), Ruben Cittadini (Culture Councilor of Castelfidardo) and Moreno Pieroni (Culture Councilor of Marche) plus representatives of the participating accordion factories Alessandrini, Baffetti, Beltuna, Binci, Bugari, Excelsior, Fisitalia, Fismen, Galassi, Giustozzi, Italcinte, Moreschi, MusicTech, Ottavianelli, Paolo Soprani, Pasco Italia, Pigini, Scandalli and Zero Sette.

A very intesting speech on the Accordion History of Castelfidardo was given by historian Beniamino Bugiolacchi who was, as always, keen to have the audience participate with interest. Beniamino enjoys telling new little stories about accordion personalities that have visited the city.

The main sponsor of this event was the accordion producer Fisitalia.

The wonderful afternoon was completed with a rich buffet and a delicious accordion cake.

PIF 2019 – Draw Your Accordion - Italy

PIF logo
The theme of the 2019 PIF Festival is “Once upon a time… the accordion”. This year, as well as encouraging composers to compose a work for Accordion & Orchestra, the event will include a new category: PIF2019 Draw your Accordion.

The idea of PIF 2019 is to intrigue and attract new generations to the accordion and the whole family of reed instruments. The past generation lived the instrument as something "extremely" popular, a feeling comparatively unknown to the young people of today who do not know it at all. The idea of making a contest of "drawing" seemed perfect because it is aimed at the very young, or the generation of the future. The design must be made on the theme of the festival including at least one image of the accordion to invite the candidates to observe it, meet it and then keep it in memory.

The competition aimed at young people up to 12 years (born in 2007 or later) of any country. There are no entry fees and the closing date for entries is 31st July, 2019.

A panel of experts will analyse the entries and will select 25 to 50 drawings. At a later stage an online voting system will be prepared for the proclamation of the winning picture.

The young winner will be awarded an “Accordion of Castelfidardo” prize and will be invited to present it during the "International Prize of the accordion" which will take place from 18th to 22nd September 2019 in Castelfidardo.
