 La Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) ha recibido una carta oficial de las autoridades portuguesas informándonos que se han visto obligadas a cancelar todos los actos públicos por orden del Gobierno central.Por lo tanto, nuestro miembro de Portugal Mito Algarvio - Associação de Acordeonistas do Algarve liderado por el presidente João Pereirais está tomando medidas para organizar dentro de unas semanas, una serie de conciertos según lo planeado en Faro y Castro Marim, incluso sin audiencia, para mostrar la diversidad de la acordeón en Portugal. El Comité Ejecutivo de la CIA ha asegurado el máximo apoyo y disponibilidad para organizar un evento en línea de unos días, al estilo del Día Mundial del Acordeón, con entrevistas, videos y el streaming de conciertos de artistas de Portugal. En una ceremonia especial, Veikko Ahvenainen recibió el Premio al Mérito de la Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) que reconoce la contribución destacada al movimiento internacional del acordeón. La ceremonia del pasado fin de semana tuvo lugar en el Ayuntamiento de Jyväskylä. Esta breve ceremonia fue organizada por la Asociación Finlandesa de Acordeón SHL con discursos del presidente Kimmo Mattila y la Sra. Eila Tiainen, quien es vicepresidenta de la Junta Ejecutiva del Ayuntamiento de Jyväskylä. Estaba jugando Vilma Wiren (16 años) de Jyväskylä. Veikko Ahvenainen (n. 1929) es un acordeonista finlandés que comenzó su carrera pública hace más de 75 años. Ha grabado más de 1,000 pistas, publicado una gran cantidad de libros de música y métodos de acordeón desde hace más de 60 años. Veikko Ahvenainen toca continuamente conciertos.  Louis Corchia, uno de los acordeonistas musette más populares de Francia y también bandoneonista. Provenía de una familia de músicos, y su padre era el acordeonista Primo Corchia (1913-97).En 1951 Louis Corchia ganó el primer CMA Trophee Mondial, celebrado en Londres. En el mismo año quedó segundo detrás de Maurice Vittenet en la CIA Coupe Mondiale, celebrada en París. Corchia tuvo una carrera profesional larga y muy exitosa que lo vio encontrar su propia orquesta de baile y actuar en los Estados Unidos, la URSS, Japón y otros países. Hizo muchas grabaciones y apareció en varios videos, y compuso y arregló mucha música. Su pieza de fiesta favorita fue su arreglo del 'Saber Dance', característica habitual de sus actuaciones en conciertos, y también fue reconocido como un exponente de la interpretación de tangos. Louis Corchia fue contemporáneo de Yvette Horner, Andre Verchuren, Marcel Azzola, Maurice Larcange, Aimable, Joss Basselli, y es considerado el último de los grandes jugadores de su época. Falleció pacíficamente en Vincennes, París, de coronavirus a la edad de 85 años, y le sobrevive su esposa Jeannine. Louis Corchia ha sido ampliamente lamentado por acordeonistas de toda Francia y más allá. DEP. |

| El 5 ° Festival de Acordeón de Cracovia se llevará a cabo en Karkow, Polonia del 4 al 11 de octubre de 2020 organizado por la Art Forum Foundation y coordinado por Maciej Zimka, Joanna Czuk y Rafal Czuk. El evento incluirá conciertos, talleres, conferencias, un Concurso de Cine de música de acordeón, una exposición de diseño de comunicación visual para la Asociación de Acordeonistas Polacos, creada en cooperación con el Departamento de Formas Industriales de la Academia de Bellas Artes de Cracovia, y un lectura de la poesía de San Juan Pablo II. Los conciertos del festival se dividirán en 9 categorías musicales: Música contemporánea - Estrenos Música Antigua Música de cámara Música de cine Música del mundo Musica Jazz Música de acordeón vocal Música improvisada - intermedio Teatro instrumental El festival tiene como objetivo dar a conocer la versatilidad del acordeón en la música clásica y contemporánea, así como en otros géneros como el jazz, las músicas del mundo, la música de acordeón vocal o el tango nuevo. | El dúo SaxAkkord, que incluye a Arseniy Strokovskiy (acordeón) e Ivan Dyma (saxofón) ofrecerá un concierto en la Catedral de los Santos Pedro y Pablo en Moscú el 20 de septiembre a las 7 pm. Su programa titulado "Through the Eras: Bach, Vivaldi & Piazzolla" incluirá como invitado especial Igor Goldenberg (órgano) y estudiantes de Ivan Dyma - El Gran Conjunto de Saxofonistas del Instituto de Música de A.G. Schnittke. Los asistentes podrán disfrutar de obras de J.S. Bach, A. Vivaldi, J. Gershwin, R. Galliano y A. Piazzolla. Ivan Dyma es un multisaxofonista, solista de The GATC I.S.V. Obraztsova, profesora del Instituto de Música A.G. Schnittke, ganadora de los concursos de toda Rusia e internacionales, artista del teatro "The Firebird" y artista de la compañía Yamaha. Ha actuado con éxito en las salas de conciertos de Nueva York (EE. UU.), Badenweiler, Essen, Karlsruhe (Alemania), Bogotá (Colombia), Tel Aviv (Israel), Druskininka (Lituania), así como en varias ciudades rusas. Participó en los prestigiosos Festivales Internacionales de Jazz y Música Clásica, tocó junto a B. Berezovsky, A. Schilloper, V. Chekasin, F.  The Reading Liederkranz German Singing & Sports Society will hold their annual celebration this year from October 1st to 3rd, 2020 in Reading, Pennsylvania, USA.This year’s event will celebrate the first Oktoberfest – the wedding of Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen in 1810. Dr Squeezebox - Kermit Ohlinger will be playing each night as the opening act of the entertainment! (picture right). See poster above for details of evening performers. Get crazy and come dressed up in your favorite Oktoberfest character. Trachten wear is welcome or take it up a notch and come as wedding guest of the early 19th Century. Organisers will have their own Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese and are planning re-enactments to go along with the schedule and theme! | Video 1: Nathan Neuman's winning composition "Pass It On" Video 2: Nathan's 3rd place song - "The Next Step" Nathan Neuman is the winner of the International Polka Association 2020 Young Songwriters contest with his song “Pass it On”. Nathan’s song "The Next Step" was co-written with Alli Lange and won 3rd place. The duo originally began writing the song 2½ years ago, but never finished or released it, when they were advised they could enter it in this competition! | The all-Russian open competition and festival of performing arts named after Russian composer M.M. Ippolitov-Ivanov will begin on September 25th and run until November 7th, 2020. The competition was organized with the assistance of the Presidential Grants Fund and is dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the birth of M.M. Ippolitov-Ivanov. Area competitions will be held in a variety of categories, including accordion and bayan in Moscow, Gatchina, Rostov-on-Don and Kostroma (as the composer once lived there), with the final round in Moscow on November 6th. Participants in the qualifying rounds from regions where COVID-19 travel restrictions are in force can take part in the qualifying rounds of the competition using video recordings. A Gala concert of winners will be held on November 7th at the cultural and educational center "Charge" concert hall in Moscow. Masterclasses, presentations and lectures dedicated to the legacy of M.M. Ippolitov-Ivanov will be held during the festival. In addition, the contestant who performs the best work of M.M. Ippolitov-Ivanov, will receive an award of 35 thousand rubles. Applications close on September 23rd, 2020.  Video: "Fleur de Bossa" by Jacques PellarinJacques Pellarin’s composition "Fleur de Bossa" will feature in a new comedy film entitled “French Exit”, starring actress Michelle Pfeiffer! The world premiere will be held at the New York Film Festival on October 11th, 2020. “French Exit” is an upcoming surreal comedy film directed by Azazel Jacobs, based on the novel of the same name by Patrick deWitt, who also wrote the screenplay. The film will be released on February 12th, 2021. |

  Video: Flogging Molly Live performance of The Worst Day Since Yesterday" (Live in San Diego) from the album “Swagger”.To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of their first studio album “Swagger”, Flogging Molly (which includes Matt Hensley on accordion & concertina) are pleased to announce a special, limited edition vinyl box set featuring a remixed & remastered version of the album. The vinyl box set will be limited to 5000 units and available worldwide from Friday, October 23rd. Pre-orders began on Thursday, September 17th, 2020. In celebration of their re-issue, the band from Los Angeles, California, USA livestreamed a free “Halfway To St. Patrick’s Day” all-acoustic, full-band performance on September 17th.  The Accordion Café Dortmund had planned to begin their monthly "Open Stage" events at the Fritz Henssler Haus in Dortmund, which features a relaxed evening with hits of the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s & 80’s. However, their September events had to be cancelled due to Covid-19 regulations.Instead, they decided to give three online Accordion Café Dortmund Schlagerabend concerts so everyone could enjoy some accordion music. Unfortunately their Accordion Café in October and November 2020 will not take place either. Further information to come re December, 2020. |

| The Virtual Accordion Camp III will take place online this weekend. The event will include a variety of workshops and concerts on September 19th. Karen Tweed will run a workshop entitled “How to make a simple tune sing” and “It’s all Bass and Bellows”. Alex Cumming will run a workshop “How to sing while playing the accordion” and Rachel Bell will run a workshop called “The Bal Folk Scottish”. These will be followed by a social hour, then an evening concert. See poster above for details. |

| Black Pencil will perform two concerts at Goede Rede in Almere, Netherlands on September 25th at 4pm and 8pm. The concert is entitled “The Best Of…..” and will include music from the 16th, 17th and 18th Centuries of Dowland, Morley, Byrd, J.S. Bach and Vivaldi combined with contemporary works by Kate Moore. Black Pencil consists of Marko Kassl (accordion), Jorge Isaac (recorder), Matthijs Koene (panflute), Esra Pehlivanli (violin) and Enric Monfort (percussion). It is a unique group with a wide repertoire. Bookings are essential due to Covid-19 seating distances and this is why the ensemble are performing 2 concerts. | Szilvia Csaranko (accordion - picture above left) and Susi Evans (clarinet - picture above right) will hold a Klezmer Music Weekend at Halsway Manor National Centre for Folk Arts in Somerset, UK from October 2nd to 4th, 2020. The duo invite musicians to explore this celebratory, soulful and melodic music from the nineteenth century Jewish Eastern Europe. Attendees will go at their own pace, learning tunes and gaining confidence with the modes, ornamentation, rhythms and accompaniment that give klezmer music its unique flavour. Play in small ensembles, be part of the Halsway Klezmer Orchestra and learn steps for the dances that the music accompanies. There will also be a tutors’ performance and plenty of opportunity for jamming in the bar! Susi Evans & Szilvia Csaranko are passionate about the tradition of klezmer music. | El reportero del periódico Weekend Lifestyler, Andy Bryenton, presentó al acordeonista Kevin Friedrich en un artículo de dos páginas el fin de semana pasado. Kevin viaja dos veces al año desde su casa en Nueva York a Dargaville Nueva Zelanda, donde vivió los primeros años de su vida, para organizar conciertos para la comunidad local en apoyo del Museo Dargaville. Este año, sin embargo, Covid-19 significó que el concierto tuvo que ser cancelado. Desde entonces, Kevin se ha quedado en Nueva Zelanda e incluso pudo organizar un mini concierto gratuito más pequeño para agradecer a la comunidad local y a los trabajadores esenciales por su ayuda y apoyo durante el bloqueo del virus.
