Die Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) hat von den portugiesischen Behörden ein offizielles Schreiben erhalten, in dem sie uns darüber informiert, dass sie auf Anordnung der Zentralregierung gezwungen wurden, alle öffentlichen Veranstaltungen abzusagen. Daher unternimmt unser portugiesisches Mitglied Mito Algarvio - Associação de Acordeonistas do Algarve unter der Leitung von Präsident João Pereirais Schritte, um innerhalb weniger Wochen eine Reihe von Konzerten in Faro und Castro Marim zu organisieren, auch ohne Publikum, um die Vielfalt der Akkordeon in Portugal. Das CIA-Exekutivkomitee hat die maximale Unterstützung und Verfügbarkeit für die Organisation einer mehrtägigen Online-Veranstaltung im Stil des Weltakkordeon-Tages mit Interviews, Videos und dem Streaming von Konzerten von Künstlern aus Portugal zugesichert. In einer besonderen Zeremonie wurde Veikko Ahvenainen der Verdienstpreis der Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) verliehen, der einen herausragenden Beitrag zur internationalen Akkordeonbewegung würdigt. Die Zeremonie fand am letzten Wochenende im Rathaus von Jyväskylä statt. Diese kurze Zeremonie wurde vom finnischen Akkordeonverband SHL mit Reden von Präsident Kimmo Mattila und Frau Eila Tiainen, der stellvertretenden Vorsitzenden des Exekutivrats des Stadtrats von Jyväskylä, organisiert. Vilma Wiren (16 Jahre) aus Jyväskylä spielte dazu am Akkordeon. Veikko Ahvenainen (* 1929) ist ein finnischer Akkordeonist, der seine aktive Karriere vor über 75 Jahren begann. Seit mehr als 60 Jahren hat er mehr als 1.000 Tracks aufgenommen, eine große Anzahl von Musikbüchern und Akkordeonmethoden veröffentlicht. Veikko Ahvenainen hält nach wie vor Konzerte. Louis Corchia (1935–2020), Opfer des Coronavirus, Paris - Frankreichby Rob Howard |
Louis Corchia, war einer der beliebtesten Musette-Akkordeonisten Frankreichs und auch Bandoneonist. Er stammte aus einer Musikerfamilie und sein Vater war der Akkordeonist Primo Corchia (1913-97). 1951 gewann Louis Corchia die erste CMA Trophee Mondial in London. Im selben Jahr wurde er nach Maurice Vittenet Zweiter im CIA Coupe Mondiale in Paris. Corchia begann eine lange und sehr erfolgreiche berufliche Laufbahn, in der er sein eigenes Tanzorchester gründete und in den USA, der UdSSR, Japan und anderen Ländern auftrat. Er machte viele Aufnahmen und trat in mehreren Videos auf. Komponierte und arrangierte Musik. Louis Corchia war ein Zeitgenosse von Yvette Horner, Andre Verchuren, Marcel Azzola, Maurice Larcange, Aimable und Joss Basselli und gilt als der letzte der großen Spieler seiner Zeit. Er starb friedlich im Alter von 85 Jahren in Vincennes, Paris, an Coronavirus und lässt sein Frau Jeannine zurück. Louis Corchia - RUHE IN FRIEDEN. |
5. Krakauer Akkordeon Festival - Polenby Christine Johnstone |
Das 5. Krakauer Akkordeon Festival findet vom 4. bis 11. Oktober 2020 in Karkow, Polen, statt. Es wird von der Art Forum Foundation organisiert und von Maciej Zimka, Joanna Czuk und Rafal Czuk koordiniert. Die Festivalkonzerte werden in 9 Musikkategorien unterteilt: Zeitgenössische Musik - Premieren Alte Musik Kammermusik Filmmusik Weltmusik Jazz Musik Vokalakkordeon Musik Improvisierte Musik - Mittelstufe Instrumentaltheater Ziel des Festivals ist es, die Vielseitigkeit des Akkordeons in der klassischen und zeitgenössischen Musik sowie in anderen Genres wie Jazz, Weltmusik, Vokalakkordeonmusik oder Tango Nuevo zu präsentieren. SaxAkkord Duo Konzert in der Kathedrale Heilige Peter und Paul, Moskau - Russlandby Harley Jones |
Das SaxAkkord Duo, mit Arseniy Strokovskiy (Akkordeon) und Ivan Dyma (Saxophon), wird am 20. September um 19 Uhr in der Kathedrale der Heiligen Peter und Paul in Moskau ein Konzert geben. Ihr Programm mit dem Titel "Durch die Epochen: Bach, Vivaldi & Piazzolla" mit geladenen Gastkünstlern Igor Goldenberg (Orgel), Studenten von Ivan Dyma - das große Ensemble von Saxophonisten des Instituts für Musik von A.G. Schnittke, mit Werken von J.S. Bach, A. Vivaldi, J. Gershwin, R. Galliano und A. Piazzolla. Ivan Dyma ist ein Multisaxophonist, Solist von The GATC I.S.V. Obraztsova, Dozent am Institut für Musik A.G. Schnittke in Moskau. Der Akkordeonist Arseniy Strokovskiy ist Absolvent des Schnittke-Instituts für Musik und Mitglied des Deutschen DAAD (Musikhochschule in Würzburg). Gewinner zahlreicher internationaler Wettbewerbe. Igor Goldenberg (Orgel) ist Absolvent des Moskauer Konservatoriums in Kompositions-, Klavier- und Orgelklassen. |

The Reading Liederkranz German Singing & Sports Society will hold their annual celebration this year from October 1st to 3rd, 2020 in Reading, Pennsylvania, USA. This year’s event will celebrate the first Oktoberfest – the wedding of Prince Ludwig of Bavaria and Princess Therese of Saxe-Hildburghausen in 1810. Dr Squeezebox - Kermit Ohlinger will be playing each night as the opening act of the entertainment! (picture right). See poster above for details of evening performers. Get crazy and come dressed up in your favorite Oktoberfest character. Trachten wear is welcome or take it up a notch and come as wedding guest of the early 19th Century. Organisers will have their own Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese and are planning re-enactments to go along with the schedule and theme! Nathan Neuman Wins 2020 Song Writing Contest - USAby Christine Johnstone |
Video 1: Nathan Neuman's winning composition "Pass It On" Video 2: Nathan's 3rd place song - "The Next Step" Nathan Neuman is the winner of the International Polka Association 2020 Young Songwriters contest with his song “Pass it On”. Nathan’s song "The Next Step" was co-written with Alli Lange and won 3rd place. The duo originally began writing the song 2½ years ago, but never finished or released it, when they were advised they could enter it in this competition! Congratulations to both musicians from Accordions Worldwide. |
M.M. Ippolitov-Ivanov Performing Arts Competition & Festival, Moscow – Russiaby Arseniy Strokovskiy |
The all-Russian open competition and festival of performing arts named after Russian composer M.M. Ippolitov-Ivanov will begin on September 25th and run until November 7th, 2020. The competition was organized with the assistance of the Presidential Grants Fund and is dedicated to the 160th anniversary of the birth of M.M. Ippolitov-Ivanov. Area competitions will be held in a variety of categories, including accordion and bayan in Moscow, Gatchina, Rostov-on-Don and Kostroma (as the composer once lived there), with the final round in Moscow on November 6th. Participants in the qualifying rounds from regions where COVID-19 travel restrictions are in force can take part in the qualifying rounds of the competition using video recordings. A Gala concert of winners will be held on November 7th at the cultural and educational center "Charge" concert hall in Moscow. Masterclasses, presentations and lectures dedicated to the legacy of M.M. Ippolitov-Ivanov will be held during the festival. In addition, the contestant who performs the best work of M.M. Ippolitov-Ivanov, will receive an award of 35 thousand rubles. Applications close on September 23rd, 2020. Video: "Fleur de Bossa" by Jacques Pellarin Jacques Pellarin’s composition "Fleur de Bossa" will feature in a new comedy film entitled “French Exit”, starring actress Michelle Pfeiffer! The world premiere will be held at the New York Film Festival on October 11th, 2020. “French Exit” is an upcoming surreal comedy film directed by Azazel Jacobs, based on the novel of the same name by Patrick deWitt, who also wrote the screenplay. The film will be released on February 12th, 2021. |

To celebrate the 20th Anniversary of their first studio album “Swagger”, Flogging Molly (which includes Matt Hensley on accordion & concertina) are pleased to announce a special, limited edition vinyl box set featuring a remixed & remastered version of the album. The vinyl box set will be limited to 5000 units and available worldwide from Friday, October 23rd. Pre-orders began on Thursday, September 17th, 2020. In celebration of their re-issue, the band from Los Angeles, California, USA livestreamed a free “Halfway To St. Patrick’s Day” all-acoustic, full-band performance on September 17th. The Accordion Café Dortmund had planned to begin their monthly "Open Stage" events at the Fritz Henssler Haus in Dortmund, which features a relaxed evening with hits of the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s & 80’s. However, their September events had to be cancelled due to Covid-19 regulations. Instead, they decided to give three online Accordion Café Dortmund Schlagerabend concerts so everyone could enjoy some accordion music. Unfortunately their Accordion Café in October and November 2020 will not take place either. Further information to come re December, 2020. |

The Virtual Accordion Camp III will take place online this weekend. The event will include a variety of workshops and concerts on September 19th. Karen Tweed will run a workshop entitled “How to make a simple tune sing” and “It’s all Bass and Bellows”. Alex Cumming will run a workshop “How to sing while playing the accordion” and Rachel Bell will run a workshop called “The Bal Folk Scottish”. These will be followed by a social hour, then an evening concert. See poster above for details. |

Black Pencil will perform two concerts at Goede Rede in Almere, Netherlands on September 25th at 4pm and 8pm. The concert is entitled “The Best Of…..” and will include music from the 16th, 17th and 18th Centuries of Dowland, Morley, Byrd, J.S. Bach and Vivaldi combined with contemporary works by Kate Moore. Black Pencil consists of Marko Kassl (accordion), Jorge Isaac (recorder), Matthijs Koene (panflute), Esra Pehlivanli (violin) and Enric Monfort (percussion). It is a unique group with a wide repertoire. Bookings are essential due to Covid-19 seating distances and this is why the ensemble are performing 2 concerts. Szilvia Csaranko (accordion - picture above left) and Susi Evans (clarinet - picture above right) will hold a Klezmer Music Weekend at Halsway Manor National Centre for Folk Arts in Somerset, UK from October 2nd to 4th, 2020. The duo invite musicians to explore this celebratory, soulful and melodic music from the nineteenth century Jewish Eastern Europe. Attendees will go at their own pace, learning tunes and gaining confidence with the modes, ornamentation, rhythms and accompaniment that give klezmer music its unique flavour. Play in small ensembles, be part of the Halsway Klezmer Orchestra and learn steps for the dances that the music accompanies. There will also be a tutors’ performance and plenty of opportunity for jamming in the bar! Susi Evans & Szilvia Csaranko are passionate about the tradition of klezmer music. Kevin Friedrich in der Northland Zeitungr – Neuseelandby Christine Johnstone |
Der Wochenendreporter von Weekend Lifestyler, Andy Bryenton, hat am vergangenen Wochenende den Akkordeonisten Kevin Friedrich in einem zweiseitigen Artikel vorgestellt. Kevin reist zweimal jährlich von seinem Zuhause in New York nach Dargaville, Neuseeland, wo er in den ersten Jahren seines Lebens lebte, um Konzerte für die lokale Gemeinde zur Unterstützung des Dargaville Museum zu organisieren. In diesem Jahr bedeutete Covid-19 jedoch, dass das Konzert abgesagt werden musste. Seitdem ist Kevin in Neuseeland geblieben und konnte sogar ein kleineres kostenloses Minikonzert veranstalten, um der örtlichen Gemeinde und den wichtigen Mitarbeitern für ihre Hilfe und Unterstützung während der Virensperre zu danken. Das Dargaville Museum beherbergt auch Akkordeon Edelsteine von Kevin Friedrich - Eine Meistersammlung von Akkordeons durch die Zeit. Dies ist die einzige Ausstellung dieser Art in der südlichen Hemisphäre. Von alten Flutinas, die fast das ursprüngliche Akkordeonpatent von 1829 hatten, über elektronische Instrumente, kleine Kinder bis hin zu Konzertmodellen in voller Größe, Knopf- und Klavierakkordeons und vielen anderen zeigt das Display die faszinierende Entwicklung des Akkordeons. Siehe Bild unten von einigen Exponaten. Kevin ist zuversichtlich, dass die Bestimmungen der Regierung Covid 19 NZ es ermöglichen werden, dass sein Weihnachts-Extravaganza-Konzert am 22.
