Le 13ème festival de musique du monde, Innsbruck - Autricheby Christine Johnstone |
Le 13ième festival de musique du monde se tiendra à Innsbruck en Autriche, du 30 mai au 2 juin, sous l’égide du Deutscher Harmonika-Verband e.V. (DHV). Tous les trois ans, des milliers de participants et visiteurs se délectent. Auront lieu des compétitions pour orchestre d’accordéons, ensembles et groupes ainsi que pour solistes d’harmonica et d’accordéon diatonique. Il y’aura aussi de nombreux concerts et la fameuse « soirée des nations » à la maison des congrès d’Innsbruck qui a fait la notoriété de ce festival. Parmi les concertistes, on trouvera les vainqueurs des dernières compétitions, Akkordeonorchester Baltmannsweiler e. V. (photo – sous la direction de Thomas Bauer), l’orchestre Guardia Nueva Tango (Finlande) dirigé par Raimo Vertainen, le duo Joe Kenney (marimba) et Felix Fritschi (accordéon), 1. Kölner Akkordeonorchester 1935 e. V. (dirigé par Hans-Günther Kölz et Matthias Henneck), l’ensemble d’accordéon Southern Cross (constitué d’autrichiens et néo-zélandais spécifiquement pour l’occasion) et Fireworks of the Styrian Harmonica – constitué des jeunes vainqueurs Michael Rettig, Alexander Pamer et Mattia Demetz. Les différents jurys sont: - Prof. Bogdan Dowlasz (POL), Johannes Baumann, Hans Barten (NLD), Ladislav Horák (CZE), Heidrun Neugebauer. - Hedy Stark-Fussnegger, Volker Gerlich, Dr. Jörg Mehren, Lutz Stark. - Wolfgang Russ, Fabian Dobler, Christine Fischer-Fahs, Werner Osten. - Kimmo Mattila (FIN), Gerhard Koschel, Alfred Melichar (AUT). - Mirco Patarini (ITA), Alma Flammersberger, Werner Glutsch, Jörgen Sundeqvist (SWE). - Andreas Nebl, Kathrin Gass, Konstantin Ischenko (RUS). |

“L’année du duo” au 79ième festival d’accordéon ATG - USAby Rita Davidson Barnea |
Le 79ième festival annuel ATG présentera “l’année du duo” avec des duos exceptionnels pour vous enchanter, vous divertir et vous laisser bouche bée. Cette année le festival se tiendra à Denver dans le Colorado du 24 au 27 juillet sous la direction du président de l’ATG, Joe Natoli (au Double tree hotel, 7801 E. Orchard Rd, Green-wood Village, Denver, Colorado). Kim et Dan Christian se produiront en duo, montrant leur griffe technique et artistique avec des arrangements personnels et épicés qui ont fait leur notoriété. Vous vous délecterez avec John et Madalynn Neu. Jamie Maschler and Gabe Hall-Rodrigues joueront avec passion, énergie et fraîcheur et Augustinas Raukauskas (accordéon) & Greta Staponkute (violon alto), récemment vainqueurs à la Coupe Mondiale vous épateront par leur musicalité hors pair. Pour promouvoir “l’année du duo”, Joe Natoli présentera avec Kenn Baert une nouvelle pièce pour accordéon duo qui s’appelle « amitiés. » La soliste Betty Jo Simon (ancienne présidente de l’ATG et actuellement membre du bureau) jouera aussi. Elle ne formera pas de « duo » mais son accordéon digital Roland sonne comme un orchestre à lui tout seul ! De plus, une nouvelle pièce de Joe Natoli, commissionnée cette année par le AAA, sera jouée à l’ATG, vendredi 26 juillet. Elle s’intitule « Jeu d’enfant (hommage) » et est écrite pour 2 accordéons, un violoncelle et un large groupe de percussions, le tout sous la direction de Joan Cochran Sommers. Joan dirigera aussi le fameux orchestre ATG où tous les accordéonistes du festival sont conviés. Le festival inclura aussi un concert de musique originale le vendredi après-midi 26 juillet et une série d’ateliers autour de divers thèmes. Auront lieu aussi des compétitions avec solos pour divers catégories telles la musique militaire, le jazz, la polka, la tango, la pop, la variété ainsi des classes pour duo, ensembles et orchestres. Concert de gala pour la journée mondiale de l’accordéon – Republique de Macédoine du Nordby Anica Karakutovska |
Le projet de “la journée mondiale de l’accordéon du 6 mai” est soutenu par l’association des accordéonistes de macédoines (Macedonian Association of Accordionists MAA). Le concert a été financé par le ministère de la culture de la République de Macédoine du Nord. Le concert de gala de la journée mondial de l’accordéon (World accordion day) s’est tenu à la Philarmonie de Skopje, le 6 mai. Reportage photo à : 2019 Republic of North Macedonia Le concert présenta des artistes de renom et des étudiants d’accordéon de la classe du professeur Zorica Karakutovska interprétant des morceaux de Zolotaryov, Derbenko, Bete Ilin, Franck Angelis, Piazzolla, Gorka Hermosa et autres. Au programme cette année, la composition « Sunrice » de Bete Ilin inauguré par « AkordioM » (Zorica Karakutovska et Filip Stameski ) et un orchestre à cordes (photo ci-dessous). La salle de concert était pleine et le public enthousiaste. Le nouveau bâtiment pour la philarmonique offre un lieu d’une grande qualité dont les artistes tirèrent pleinement partie et que le public apprécia, à travers des applaudissements à bâtons rompus et une ovation debout. Poland Golden Cross Award Presented to Ricardas Sviackeviciusby Christine Johnstone |
Accordionist, teacher and conductor Ricardas Sviackevicius (Lithuania) has been awarded the Poland Golden Cross for merit in developing the culture of Lithuania and Poland. The Cross of Merit (Polish: Krzyz Zaslugi) is a Polish civil state decoration established on June 23, 1923, to recognize services to the state. At the time of its establishment in 1923, the Cross of Merit was the highest civilian award in Poland. It was awarded to citizens who went beyond the call of duty in their work for the country and society as a whole. Ricardas Sviackevicius is a professor at LMTA Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in Vilnius, Lithuania. Accordions Worldwide congratulates Ricardas for being the recipient of this award. |

Dick Contino Tribute Show at Chicago Accordion Club - USAby Christine Johnstone |
The Chicago Accordion Club will host a Dick Contino Tribute Show on May 20th at 310 W. Butterfield Rd, Elmhurst, Illinois 60126. The event will begin with pre-meeting music by accordionist Bob Hoge who is a member of the “Snowbird Polka Band” in Florida and also “The Bruce Korosa Band”. This will be followed by a performance by Lenny Leto, who will dazzle everyone with his own well-known style of playing some of Dick’s most popular tunes! Then Judy Contino will take the main stage and present the “Dick Contino Celebration”. Judy will deliver an audio-visual presentation and celebration of the life of Dick Contino (picture left). Cody McSherry is performing on Sunday May 19th, details on the poster. Cody McSherry is fifteen years old and is a sophomore at Lancaster Catholic High School in Lancaster, PA. He has been playing accordion since the age of six. Cody also plays piano, pipe organ, hammered dulcimer, harp, and sings. He is currently studying accordion with Mary Tokarski (in Connecticut) and voice with Joanne Abrom. n 2016, Cody won the Lancaster’s Got Talent competition held by Lancaster Newspapers and is a two-time winner of the Carmen Carrozza Scholarship, Junior Division, held by the American Accordionists’ Association. In November 2018 Cody performed at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts Millennium Stage in Washington, DC. |

Vardos Trio which includes accordionist Sophia Chapman, will present a concert entitled “From Myth to Masterpiece” at the Primrose Potter Salon, 31 Sturt St, Melbourne, Victoria. The event, which will take place on May 24th at 6pm will be presented by the Melbourne Recital Centre & Vardos. Their program will include works by Bartok, Chopin, Brahms, Liszt and Dvorak as well as some Romanian Folk Dances, and gypsy-style classics that reflect ancient beginnings performed on early instruments such as the three-string viola and hurdy gurdy. Registrations close on June 10th, 2019 for the 13th Annual Accordion Art Festival which will be held from June 14th to 16th in Roseto degli Abruzzi, TE, directed by Renzo Ruggieri in collaboration with the Comune di Roseto degli Abruzzi. The event will include the 2019 Orpheus Award and the Italia Award international competition with competitors from all over the world. Video: “Ultimatum” composed by Saúl Cosentino & performed by Carismático which includes accordionist Karen Street. The Carismàtico Tango Band will perform in concert at the Dorchester Corn Exchange in Dorchester on June 21st at 8pm organised by Dorchester Arts. The group includes Karen Street (accordion), Jonathon Taylor (piano), Andy Tweed (saxophone), Dave Manington (bass) and Rob Millett (percussion). The will entertain with a mix of emotionally charged compositions of Argentinian composer Saúl Cosentino alongside music by his mentor Astor Piazzolla and Karen’s own creative and nuanced compositions.
