 The dates for the 2012 Accordion Federation of North America (AFNA) Festival are 9th to 11th August at the Hyatt Hotel in Irvine, California. This year Joan Sommers will conduct the AFNA Festival Orchestra and we are inviting all the accordionists who want to play some vintage Anthony Galla-Rini arrangements to join Joan Sommers directing the AFNA Festival Orchestra.The Martin Music Center Accordion Orchestra (directed by Randy Martin) will be featured and in 2011 won the International Accordion Orchestra Competition at the American Accordionists' Association (AAA) Festival held in Charleston, South Carolina, July last year. The Martin Accordion Orchestra is a group of very talented and hard-working young musicians. In the past, the group has performed at the White House and Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., the Coupe Mondiale in 2007 and 2009 in New Zealand, and has played on multiple television broadcasts. |
