 La Musikmesse de Frankfurt 2012, tendrá lugar desde el miércoles 21 al sábado 24 de marzo, siendo éste último el día de demostraciones para el público. Los horarios de apertura son desde las 9.00 hasta las 18.00. Casi todos los fabricantes de acordeón de Italia y Alemania se muestran en el pabellón 3.1 con expositores internacionales de 46 países que presentan algunos instrumentos musicales, software y hardware de la música, partituras, accesorios y servicios relacionados con la creación musical. El sábado (día del espectador), habrá demostraciones por todos los diferentes “stand” de los fabricantes de acordeón.   El sábado día 5 de mayo al mediodía (12.00), tendrá lugar un espectacular concierto en el Teatro Auditorio de Pola de Siero, Asturias. La primera parte del concierto contará con el virtuoso acordeonista ruso Yuri Shishkin. Por la tarde (16.00) Ludovic Beier (Francia) nos ofrecerá una demostración de acordeones Roland en el Auditorio del Conservatorio Superior de Música del Principado de Asturias. Las entradas para este magnífico evento patrocinado por Roland Iberia son gratuitas en ambos casos.El Seminario con Yuri Shishkin tendrá lugar el sábado día 5 de mayo desde las 16.00 a las 20.00 y el domingo 6 de mayo de 10.00 a 14.00 y de 16.00 a 20.00, en el Conservatorio Superior de Música “Eduardo Martínez Torner”, Corrada del Obispo s/o, Oviedo. El libro cuenta la historia de Dick Contino, con muchas anécdotas y revelaciones sobre sus batallas con las posiciones extremistas, el juego, la bebida, su problema con el Ejército de los EEUU y posterior encarcelamiento…Dick Contino se convirtió en un hombre familiar. Fue dado de baja honorablemente como sargento y más tarde recibió un indulto presidencial. El libro también detalla su relación amorosa con la actriz Leigh Snowden y sus hijos así como su actual vida con su esposa, Tonia. Dick Contino se convirtió en una súper estrella del acordeón en el programa de radio de Horacio Heidt a finales de 1940.  En la revista estadounidense Time del día 12 de marzo de 2012 se publicó un artículo: "El mercado publicitario de China está creciendo el mercado. El mercado de los EEUU creció en más del 20% entre 2005 y 2010, según ResearchInChina, una firma de investigación de mercado con sede en Beijin.Al igual que en los EEUU, Internet es, con mucho, el mercado publicitario de más rápido crecimiento." El gasto en publicidad online en China aumentó un 57% en 2011 y ahora representa más del 10%. Parece que las empresas chinas se han dado cuenta de la auténtica revolución que supone la publicidad de sus negocios en Internet. Para accordions.com el crecimiento de los lectores de China ha seguido con una salud muy fuerte, y eventos como la Copa Mondiale 2011 en Shanghai, China han promovido aún más las comunicaciones entre los acordeonistas dentro de China. | The Regional Competition for Young Performers took place on March 5th and 6th at Tarco- Sale, a small town located in Yamal region of Russia. Alexander Selivanov was Chairman of the Jury, alongside Moscow pianist Professor Denis Chefanov and violinist Alexey Mayevsky. Picture above of Alexander Selivanov presenting prizes. The competition had about 200 participants from the ages of 6 until 15. Alexander Selivanov also gave master-classes for young local musicians, and during the closing concert played on stage together with young talented accordionist Denis Koptelov. Picture below. The final piece of the concert was the famous ‘Frescos’ for Bayan and Orchestra by Viatcheslav Semionov, performed by Alexander Selivanov and Denis Chefanov. |

 The Accordions Worldwide news for 13th March 1998 reported that accordionist Tracey Collins entered the McDonalds Young Entertainers, a very popular weekly TV show in New Zealand.It is not easy for accordion acts to impress in TV talent shows, but Tracey Collins certainly did and this was a beginning to a most successful career by Tracey as an accordion entertainer within New Zealand and internationally. ACCORDIONIST FEATURED ON TV MUSIC COMPETITION - NEW ZEALAND Contributed by Steve Collins Accordionist Tracey Collins was chosen from over 1,000 acts to compete in the McDonalds Young Entertainers, a very popular weekly TV show which is held annually over 13 weeks. Tracey performed ‘Cubanola’, promoting the accordion (which looked great under lights with sparkling diamantes). After her performance, she was interviewed by show host Jason Gunn. Tracey's performance is due to be screened in June 1998. |

Russia is the largest country by area in the world, extending across 9 time zones covering the whole of northern Asia and a large part of Europe. The accordion figures significantly across all of Russia, both as a classical and a folk instrument, and there are lots of accordion concerts and festivals taking place throughout the year. | A concert of contemporary music for accordion and saxophone will be held on Friday, 23rd March at 8 pm in the KunstKulturKirche - Forum for Modern Art and New Music in Frankfurt. This concert for accordion and saxophone by the duo of Mirjana Petercol and Makus Hossner, is the highlight of the composition workshops at the Höchst Conservatory in Frankfurt, which took place under the direction of the composer and lecturer Claus Kühnl. The peculiarity of the acoustics of this church venue and its artistic environment has been a significant influence on the 6 new compositions being presented.  The dates for the 2012 Accordion Federation of North America (AFNA) Festival are 9th to 11th August at the Hyatt Hotel in Irvine, California. This year Joan Sommers will conduct the AFNA Festival Orchestra and we are inviting all the accordionists who want to play some vintage Anthony Galla-Rini arrangements to join Joan Sommers directing the AFNA Festival Orchestra.The Martin Music Center Accordion Orchestra (directed by Randy Martin) will be featured and in 2011 won the International Accordion Orchestra Competition at the American Accordionists' Association (AAA) Festival held in Charleston, South Carolina, July last year. The Martin Accordion Orchestra is a group of very talented and hard-working young musicians. In the past, the group has performed at the White House and Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C., the Coupe Mondiale in 2007 and 2009 in New Zealand, and has played on multiple television broadcasts. |

This workshop, part of the Vancouver Celtic Festival, takes place at the Tom Lee Music city stage, 929 Granville Street, Vancouver, BC V6Z 1L3, Canada. Admission is free.  Next week Scottish accordionist Roy Hendrie, a former NAO All Britain Junior Champion, is in concert at the North Staffs Accordion Club and the Stockport Accordion Club. Roy Hendrie, from Troon, Ayrshire, is a most accomplished accordionist and dance band leader, whose music encompasses a variety of styles including Scottish, Continental, French musette, Latin American, and jazz. | Mazaika Swing - passionate, dynamic and soulful Gypsy Jazz played by some of Britain's leading exponents of the style – Sarah Harrison (violin), Igor Outkine (accordion/vocals), Stuart Blagden and Ducato Piotrowski (guitars), and Marcus Penrose (double bass). When Sarah Harrison and Igor Outkine of critically acclaimed duo Mazaika met Stu Blagden (“The 'numero uno' Gypsy Jazz guitarist in the UK” - Hank Marvin), there was only one thing to do, form a gypsy swing quintet! They recruited Ducato Piotrowski, a Rom Gypsy and the genre’s top rhythm player in the UK, and Marcus Penrose, one of London’s top young jazz bass players. Mazaika Swing focuses on the repertoire of Django Reinhart, Stephane Grapelli and the Hot Club de France plus other contemporary Gypsy Swing composers such as Romane, Tchavolo Schmitt and others, but they also play original compositions, tangos and boleros and some hot gypsy favourites.
