 В субботу 16 октября пройдет Финал 4 Международного конкурса-фестиваля исполнителей на цифровых аккордеонах Roland V-Accordion Festival, спонсором которого выступает компания Roland Europe. Подробную информацию о конкурсе, участниках и жюри можно прочитать на: 2010 Rome Festival.Ежедневные отчеты будут доступны online, начиная с утра 15 октября по итальянскому времени. Даже если Вы не можете присутствовать в Риме, Вы можете увидеть прямую видеотрансляцию с конкурса. Первый тур конкурса можно будет посмотреть в пятницу 15 октября, начиная с 9 утра по римскому времени. Порядок выступления участников на: 2010 Rome Festival. The 2010 Coupe Mondiale is organised by the Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) IMC-UNESCO and the national host, the Croatian Accordion Teachers Association (HDHP) headed by President Vjera Odak and Organizing Committee Kristijan Potocnjak, Valentina Basnec and Sasa Bastalec. |

| Впервые премия «Award of Merit of the Free State of Saxony», вручаемая в знак признания выдающегося вклада в развитие различных областей человеческой деятельности на благо Саксонии и ее жителей, была вручена 27 октября 1997 года. Эта премия может быть вручена местному уроженцу или иностранцу за заслуги в политической, социальной, культурной или экономической деятельности, проводимой в интересах местного населения.  В понедельник 11 октября команда телеканала Discovery Channel провела съемки на аккордеонной фабрике Scandalli Accordion Factory, расположенной в городе Кастельфидардо (Castelfidardo).Фабрика Scandalli была выбрана в связи с тем, что это известный во всем мире бренд производителя баянов и аккордеонов, а также потому, что все ступени производственного процесса проходят под одной крышей. Это позволило заснять все этапы производства аккордеонов. Съемки прошли в рамках подготовки к выпуску программы телеканала Discovery под названием “How do they do it” («Как это работает»), которая выйдет в следующем 2011 году и будет показана международной аудитории в 150 миллионов телезрителей. |

 В субботу 11 октября в Кастельфидардо (Castelfidardo) завершился 35 Международный Конкурс Аккордеонистов. Прошедший под непосредственным художественным руководством Паоло Пиккьо (Paolo Picchio), конкурс привлек участников из 25 стран с 3 континентов.Несмотря на серьезное представительство русских и французских участников-победителей, конкурсанты из Италии завоевали две победы. одна из них – победа Томаса Арены (Thomas Arena) – стала первой победой Италии в категории D (концертные исполнители без ограничения возраста) за последние 14 лет. Томмазо Арена (Tommaso Arena) недавно с отличием окончил Консерваторию Conservatory F. Torrefranca Vibo Valentia и сейчас продолжает свое обучение у Марио Стефано Пьетродарки (Mario Stefano Pietrodarchi). Он также является победителем множества национальных и международных конкурсов.  The annual Roland US V-Accordion Festival was held on September 18th at the Roland US headquarters in Los Angeles, California.The winners were: Junior 1st - Andre Fry, Annapolis Maryland. Andre won a Roland V-Accordion FR-3X. In July Andre won the 2010 AAA’s Elsie M. Bennett Composition Competition, Junior Division, with his composition ‘Czardas’. 2nd - Johan Richard Knoff, Randolf, Vermont Senior 1st - Christopher Gorton, Providence, Rhode Island. Christopher won a Roland V-Accordion FR-7X and will represent the USA on October 16th at the 4th International V-Accordion Festival in Rome, Italy. 2nd - Svetlana Ivanchenko, Dallas, Texas. This year Roland US instituted a ‘Ron Lankford Outstanding Performance Memorial Award’. This award was presented by Faith Lankford, Ron's widow, to junior finalist Hannah Robbins, Elm Creek, Nebraska. Joe Natoli, a Roland Corporation US V-Accordion Product Specialist, performed an outstanding version of his composition ‘Waltz for Ron’ as part of a tribute to the late Ron Lankford. Sergio Scappini rounded off what had been an outstanding festival with a brilliant concert performance, culminating with some famous opera arias, finishing with ‘Nessun Dorma’.  At the age of 104 Tommy Sivell can still hold a tune on his melodeon. Despite being one of the oldest men on Tyneside in the North East of England, the veteran musician loves to entertain in his Kingston Park, Newcastle, care home, to prove he can still play with the pros. Tommy, who lived in Fawdon, Newcastle, before moving to Cranlea care home, taught himself to play the melodion when he was just 17. Since then, he has gathered a collection of over 30 instruments. He still loves to entertain and, when a banjo band visited Cranlea last week, Tommy couldn’t wait to get up on stage. So staff organised a special concert in his honour and last week he was the true star of the show. “I’ve never been quite what you would call professional,” said modest Tommy. “I have always loved playing and I like to keep it up. People in the home like to see me playing as well.” |

 The musical ‘Songs From A Hotel Bedroom’?, with a score by Kurt Weill and featuring accordionist Romano Viazzani, opens this week. The show stars Frances Ruffelle (1994 Eurovision UK contestant) and Nigel Richards as well as two super tango dancers. The story is about a singer a bandleader, a band that tours, romance, heartache...  ACCOsax Freeminded perform on Sunday October 17th, 7.pm – 8.30pm, at the Russian Drama Theatre, J.Basanavicius str. 13, Vilnius, Lithuania. This concert is part of the Vilnius Jazz Festival.The trio ACCOsax Freeminded are Raimondas Sviackevicius – accordion, Jan Maksimovic – sax, and Arkady Gotesman – percussion. Their music combines technical mastery, expression and subtlety, contemporary thinking and echoes from the past. Raimondas Sviackevicius has contributed a great deal to bringing the accordion to the most important music stages and festivals, and to expanding its repertoire. He studied accordion at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LAMT), Lodz (Poland) and Sibelius (Finland) music academies, and the Royal Conservatory of The Hague (the Netherlands). His competition successes include prizes in four Lithuanian accordion competitions (1988, 1990, 1992 and 1994), and prizes at the ‘Citta di Castelfidardo’ (1996 and 1998) and in 1999 took second prize in the ‘Pianello Val Tidone’ competition, Italy. The same year he won first prize and received a special prize in ‘Premio Internazionale per fisarmonica Stefano Bizzari’, where the following year he became the absolute winner and was awarded the ‘Golden Lyre’.  Five musicians from the St Petersburg Conservatory, Russia, visit Manchester, England, from October 15th to 23rd for a cultural visit. The musicians are Vladimir Fonin, ‘Honored People’s Artist of Russia’ – accordion, Mikhail Senchurov, Professor of Balalaika, Natalya Gorbenko – piano, and singers Anna Voronina and Sergei Kochetov.  William Cosby performs in concert at the Washington Metropolitan Accordion Society (WMAS) on Sunday October 17th, at 4pm. The concert will take place at Sleepy Hollow United Methodist Church, 3435 Sleepy Hollow Road, Falls Church, VA 22044. Donation for non-WMAS members is $8 (members free).William Cosby, one of the first US pioneers of the free bass system, was once a student of Anthony Galla-Rini, former US Champion and 1964 Coupe Mondiale laureate. He performs classical, jazz, and pop styles in addition to selections representative of the accordion’s greatest performers over the past 80 years. |

The adjudicator is Donald Finalyson, and the contests are open to the general public.
