Ian Watson’s July Accordion Activities - UK‏

Ian WatsonAccordionist and teacher Ian Watson has been very active of late, with performances all over the country. Ian premiered a new piece called 'Schiller', by Peter Eotvos, with the London Sinfonietta at Snape Maltings Concert Hall - a great piece for accordion, small ensemble and 8 voices. This performance was broadcast on BBC Radio 3’s 'Hear and Now' on July 9th.

Ian also premiered a piece called 'Sit, Stand, Walk', by Rolf Hind, at the Spitalfields Festival with the chamber group CHROMA, which he considered to be a really interesting piece. This will be broadcast on 'Hear and Now', BBC Radio 3, on August 13th.

During July Ian also was Musical Director for 'The Opera Group' premiere performances of a short 'street' opera by Julian Phillips called 'Save the Diva', performed on the streets of Glasgow, Cardiff, Birmingham, Brighton and London - very much fun but challenging in all the recent wet weather!

On July 16th - Soundwaves Festival, Brighton, with CHROMA. 6 premieres of trios for accordion, viola, clarinet and electronics by composition students and graduates of the Royal Academy of Music.
