Ksenija Sidorova ‘Carmen’ Concert, Cesis - Latviaby Rob Howard |
Latvian accordionist Ksenija Sidorova performs her unique arrangement of Bizet’s ‘Carmen’ suite on Saturday December 16th, 6pm, at Vidzemes koncertzale, Raunas, Cesis, Latvia. There will be a pre-conversation with Sidorova about ‘Carmen’, chaired by Signe Dzenite, the presenter of the Latvian Radio program ‘Classics’. Attendance in the event is free of charge. Ksenija Sidorova, now based in Spain, started to play the accordion aged eight under the guidance of Marija Gasele in her hometown of Riga, Latvia. She later studied in London at the Royal Academy of Music with Professor Owen Murray. She subsequently received her Masters Degree with Distinction, and has since pursued a highly successful international career. Her recording of ‘Carmen’ won the prestigious German music award Echo Klassik earlier this year. |
