| The American Accordionists' Association (AAA) will hold their 85th Anniversary Festival 2023 at the Marriott Philadelphia West Hotel in Conshohocken, Pennsylvania, USA from July 12th to 16th, 2023. Planned events include concerts, workshops, competitions, exhibits, special activities and more and Frank Busso Sr. will receive the AAA Lifetime Achievement Award at the AAA Festival 2023. Rare Accordion Collection Comes Up for Sale - Italyby Kevin Friedrich |
 After the sad passing of renowned collector, Fermo Galbiati (picture left), the director of the Galbiati Miscellaneous Museum in Brugherio, in 2018, his precious collection of accordions is being sold to interested buyers and collectors."The Galbiati Miscellaneous Museum”, opened in 1950 and his passion for collecting included bicycles, accordions, phonographs, records and more. The bicycle collection traced the entire historical evolution of two-wheelers, through very rare specimens, military and professional bicycles, cycles from different countries and manufacturers. His accordion collection showcased 300 instruments of production, including prototypes, bandoneòn models, keyboard variants, mechanical concertinas and other beautiful accordions spanning more than 100 years of production. Many of the instruments had belonged to famous masters, who had them built with customized technical applications. There were also phonographs and gramophones (all working) and a collection of 10,000 vintage records, from 78 rpm onwards. He also had a collection titled "Mysterious Objects" consisting of 600 work tools of past times, which for us today are objects that are difficult to decipher and the public was invited to guess their uses. The "A Little Bit Of Everything" section completed his Museum collection, comprising objects from past eras such as film projectors, magic lanterns, measures for solids and liquids, typewriters, toys, barrel organs and other miscellaneous curiosities. Upon Mr. Galbiati’s passing, the town’s Mayor Marco Troiano broke the news: "Brugherio loses its famous "Collector of Collections", known everywhere in the world!” The accordion collection sale is being handled by Victoria Arts & Crafts in Milan, Italy. | The XXIII International Competition of Young Performers Named after Anatoli Kusiakov will be held at the Rostov State Conservatory. S.V. Rachmaninov, in the city of Rostov-on-Don, Russia, from March 31st to April 5th, 2023. The competition is open to high school students of children's music schools, children's art schools, colleges with 11 years of education, students of music colleges, art colleges, university students, concert performers, teachers of various educational institutions, educational and cultural institutions of the Russian Federation, as well as representatives of countries near and far abroad. Registration of participants will take place on March 31st in the lobby of the conservatory from 9:00 to 16:00. The draw of the contestants will be held online.  CNIMA directed by Nathalie Boucheix will hold an accordion workshop tutored by Olivier Douyez from February 20th to 24th, 2023.Olivier Douyez is an accordion professor at the Royal Mons Conservatory in Belgium. The workshop is for all levels and ages with a special focus on young talents (14 to 18 year olds) who wish to enter the Bachelor program at the Royal Mons Conservatory. Arseniy Strokovskiy Awarded DAAD Prize - Germanyby Christine Johnstone |

 Arseniy Strokovskiy, took part in the DAAD prize in November last year, winning the competition after competing against international students at the University of Music Würzburg.In addition to his performance on the accordion, the evaluation also took into account his extensive social commitment. Candidates were asked to write a statement about their social and intercultural activities. Arseniy wrote about his concerts in German nursing homes, hospitals, schools and prisons and also about his participation in different charity festivals. Arseniy Strokovskiy began playing the accordion at the age of five and first studied at the Moscow State Schnittke Music Institute before moving to the University of Music Würzburg, where he completed his master's degree in 2019 in the class of Prof. Stefan Hussong. In 2023, he is expected to complete his master class studies, also in the class of Prof. Stefan Hussong. Arseniy Storkovsky has many international competition successes at the highest level (Klingenthal, Castelfidardo, Coupe Mondiale) and has taken part in many unique projects such as SaxAkkord, a duo accordion & saxophone with Ivan Dyma. Album available: SaxAkkord The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is a joint institution of German universities. It uses public funds to promote international academic cooperation, especially the exchange of students and scholars. The foreign students at their universities enrich the university community both culturally and academically. To recognize this, the DAAD provides annual funds to universities to award a prize to foreign students with outstanding achievements and remarkable social-intercultural commitment. |

 Zoe Tiganouria took part in a “Music Families” TV program EPT3 on the ERT3 entertainment television channel in Greece on January 13th, 2023.The show, presented by George Melikis featured Zoe’s family of musicians and the traditional songs she has composed for her island. Performing were Zoe on accordion, her father Dimitris (violin), her uncle George (accordion), uncle Stratis (lute), cousin Giota (santouri – hammered dulcimer) and cousin Pantelis (violin). |

| Tuulikki Bartosik will hold a concert to celebrate the release of her third solo album “Playscapes” at the Fotografiska Art Museum in Tallinn, Estonia on January 14th, 2023 at 7pm. The album will be released exclusively on vinyl in Estonia and Sweden on January 14th and digitally worldwide on January 21st, 2023. “Playscapes” is produced by Tuulikki Bartosik and Sander Mölder, mix and mastered by Siim Mäesalu, with cover art by Kristi Kongi. | The HHC Akkordeonorchester Grötzingen e. V. aims to take their audience on a trip to the UK with their concert entitled “A Night in Britain”. The event will be held at the Mehrzweckhalle in Aichtal-Grötzingen, Grötzingen, Karlsruhe, Baden-Württemberg, Germany on January 14th, 2023 at 7pm. The orchestra will perform music by British artists such as Phil Collins, Ed Sheeran and the Beatles as well as tunes from popular musicals and films such as Cats, the latest hit musical Hamilton and James Bond. In addition to popular music, there will also be guest musician, traditional Scottish bagpipe player Jürgen Schmidt and Irish tap dance group Rince Cara, who will present Irish folk dance in traditional and modern dance.   It has been 20 year since the Henry Girls released their debut album 'Between Us' (picture left), which they launched in McGrorys, Co.Donegal on January 24th, 2003. The group have announced: “To celebrate its release, and everything that came after, we are doing a special one-off concert featuring songs from the debut album, personal favourites from our 20 year span and also previewing songs from our soon to be released new album.” The concert will be held at the Colgan Hall (picture above right) in Carndonagh, Co. Bennett Accordion Composition Competition and contribute to the growth of contemporary concert works for solo accordion or for the accordion being featured with other instruments. As its permanent chair, she succeeded over the remainder of the century up to a short time before her death in 2005, in commissioning 55 works from 33 composers, many of whom were world famous.
