Le 13ième festival de musique du monde - Innsbruck - Autricheby Harley Jones |
Tous les trois ans se tient, le 13ième festival de musique du monde à Innsbruck sous l’égide du Deutscher Harmonika-Verband e.V. (DHV). Il a eu lieu cette année du 30 mai au 2 juin. Ce festival attire des orchestres d’accordéon et ensembles d’Europe centrale et d’ailleurs ainsi que les meilleurs joueurs solistes et groupes. Le 13ième festival annuel de l’art de l’accordéon 2019 s’est tenu du 14 au 16 juin, à Roseto degli Abruzzi, TE, sous l’égide de Renzo Ruggieri en collaboration avec la ville Comune de Roseto degli Abruzzi. Cet évènement a inclus le prix Orpheus 2019 et la compétition internationale du prix d’Italie avec des compétiteurs du monde entier. Les catégories pour la compétition : accordéon classique, virtuose et diatonique, pour divers groupes d’âge. Le Séminaire d’accordéon Pear Fold de Macédoine 2019 - Macédoineby Christine Johnstone |
Le séminaire Pear Folk de musique, chant et danse se tiendra à l’hôtel Manastir à Berovo, en Macédoine, du 25 juillet au 3 août. Cet évènement inclura 10 jours de musique folk, harmonies, classe d’orchestres, danses et vedettes locales. Chaque soir aura sa « fête » musique live et instruments de musique traditionnelle de Macédoine. Le fondateur et directeur de ce séminaire est l’accordéoniste Goran Alachki, qui a composé plus de 300 chansons, danses et arrangements. Il tiendra des séminaires et ateliers de musique folk traditionnelle de Macédoine, tous les jours, pour solistes et groupes. Summer Magic of Classical Music – Croatiaby Christine Johnstone |
Accordionist Martina Jembrisak performed a classical concert with the Junge Sinfoniker Basel (conducted by Ulrich Dietsche) at the Croatian National Theatre in Split, Croatia on June 30th. Their program included works by Leonard Bernstein, Mikolaja Majkusiaka and Robert Schumann. The following day Martina had the privilege of playing at the Croatian Radio in Split on a show “Nedjeljni Akvarel” where she also spoke about her studies in Germany as well as the concert at the National Theatre. This project represents a special program of international cooperation between the Split music youth and the Music Academy in Basel. Further concerts were held at the Croatian National Theatre in Šibenik on July 2nd and at the Classic Open Air Zadar on July 4th. |
New CD: Iñaki Alberdi and Carlos Mena Released CD - Spainby Harley Jones |
Iñaki Alberdi and Carlos Mena released their CD “Cueurs Desolez” in a concert-presentation on Friday, May 31 at the Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando in Madrid. Published by IBS Classical, the CD includes works by Josquin Des Prez, Bach, Jesús Torres, Gabriel Erkoreka, Joan Magramé and José María Sánchez-Verdú. In the presentation, which will also include musicologist José Luis García del Busto and IBS Classical director Paco Moya, Iñaki Alberdi and Carlos Mena will perform the works “Mille regretz” by Josquin Des Prez and “Llama de amor vivo” by Jesús Torres. A new publication in English by Matti Rantanen entitled “The Accordion in Art Music in Finland” has just been released. How was the unprecedented success story of the accordion in art music in Finland developed? “Live at Lunch” at Royal Opera House – UKby Christine Johnstone |
A free concert series entitled “Live at Lunch” is currently underway at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, Linbury Theatre Foyer in London until July 26th, 2019. On July 5th, the Opera House featured “Carmen – in 40 minutes!” which was a shortened version of Carmen arranged for piano, accordion and violin, telling the story of how Carmen and Don José fall in love and end up in a state of despair. The arrangement included the famous Habanera, Flower Song and heart-breaking finale. Performers were Romano Viazzani (accordion), Philippa Mo (violin), Kelvin Lim (piano), Alexander James Edwards (tenor) and Marie Elliott (mezzo-soprano). |

The Auckland Accordion Symphonietta conducted by well known vocalist and accordionist Lionel Reekie, performed their biannual concert entitled “No Words” at the Rose Centre in Belmont, Auckland on July 7th. Special guest performers were Adam Perry and sisters Angela & Jessie Chen who are the New Zealand representatives competing at the Coupe Mondiale World Competition in Shenzhen, China next month. The orchestra program included pieces by Strauss, Rubinstein and Leroy Anderson as well as “Two plus One” (Gary Daverne), finishing with Rossini’s La Scala Di Seta. The Auckland Accordion Symphonietta will hold their next concert on November 24th, 2019. |

“Teapot in the Tuba” duo (which includes Katheryn Petersen on accordion and Mike Allen on clarinet) will entertain at the UBC Farmer’s Market in Vancouver on July 14th. On July 28th they will entertain at the Trout Lake Farmer's Market in Vancouver, BC. Teapot in the Tuba have worked together as a duo for three years and mingles traditional, classical, jazz, original and pop repertoire in potent combinations. |

Video: Julie Blocher performing Phil Tango Jean-Louis Noton will hold a week dedicated to the accordion at the Hotel Restaurant “Les Sapins” Wellness & Gourmet in Manigod where he will offer all his talent, his musical knowledge and his technique in a friendly and warm atmosphere. Held from July 17th to 24th, the event will include an accordion masterclass by Jean-Louis Noton and speakers Julie Blocher and Michel Madeira. Amateur and professional accordionists are invited to come and enjoy the speakers. Jean-Louis Noton will offer free training for Odyssey owners. Popular group “Beyond the Pale” are excited to announce a last-minute concert, on July 16th at Beth Tzedec Congregation in Toronto, ON, with the exciting Israeli Yiddish vocalist Vira Lozinsky. The concert is presented in partnership with Beth Tzedec Congregation and with the support of UJA Committee for Yiddish. Beyond the Pale, which includes Milos Popovic (accordion), Aleksandar Gajic (violin), Bret Higgins (bass), Eric Stein (mandolin, mandocello) and Martin van de Ven (clarinets) enjoy playing music inspired by Klezmer and Balkan styles but are influenced by everything from jazz and classical music to bluegrass, newgrass and reggae. Accordion Spice will be playing in a charity concert for Clic Sargent (a cancer charity) at Levenshulme Baptist Church in Levenshulme, Manchester on Friday August 30th at 7.30pm. The concert is an annual event organised by a couple who have organised concerts for over 20 years. Accordion Spice will play 2 sets which will include accordion marches and popular songs from musicals. Entries will close on September 5th for the XII International Accordion Composition competition “Francisco Escudero organised by the Hauspoz Euskal Herriko Akordoei Elkartea. The objective of the contest is to promote the creation of pieces for solo accordion and for accordion in chamber music and their length may not exceed 10 minutes. The works of chamber music must be composed for a maximum of four players in which there is at least one accordion. The competition is open to composers of any age and nationality. Only pieces written after January 2015 will be admitted. Works must never have been previously performed either in public or through any digital or mechanical means. The London Accordion Orchestra are delighted to be appearing for the first time in Norwich to help celebrate the Norwich Accordion Club's 50th Anniversary. It will be a joint concert with NAC performing in the first half of the concert and LAO in the second. Tickets are now on sale for the celebrations which will take place on November 17th at Hellesdon High School in Norwich, Norfolk beginning at 3pm. Their program will include many classical favourites including the Suite from Masquerade by Khachaturian and the much loved Nutcracker Suite by Tchaikovsky.
