19ème Festival International d’Accordéon, Vienne – Autricheby Holda Paoletti-Kampl |
Le festival international d’accordéon de cette année, long événement sur un mois, se tiendra du 24 février au 25 mars en différents lieux de Vienne. Le festival propose nombre de concerts formels et informels ainsi que quelques films muets avec accompagnement d’accordéon. Le fondateur et organisateur du festival est Friedl Preisl (phot de gauche), lequel déclare que 2018 va recevoir plus de 50 artistes venus de nombreux pays qui se produiront dans 14 lieux différents. Friedl Preisl a reçu le prix CIA d’“Honored Friend of the Accordion” en 2009 pour sa formidable contribution au monde de l’accordéon. Fêtant son 50ème anniversaire, le célébre accordéoniste finlandais Mika Väyrynen a donné fin 2017 une série de premières mondiales et d’oeuvres de compositeurs finlandais. La première première mondiale fut une oeuvre d’Aulis Sallinen 'Dance Music Suite Op. 107' pour accordéon, violon, violoncelle et piano. Dédiée à Mika Väyrynen, cette première avait lieu dans l’église de Porvoo dans le cadre du festival Loviisa Sibelius le 8 septembre 2017, en présence du compositeur. Le 11 octobre 2017, lors du concert des 50 ans de Mika "Suomi 100 - Väyrynen 50" organisé au Camerata Hall du Helsinki Music Center, Mika (photo de droite), a donné un programme tout finlandais incluant 6 premières mondiales, ainsi que le lancement de son dernier CD, l’oeuvre pour accordéon de feu Jouni Kaipainen (1956-2015). Que ferez-vous pour le World Accordion Day pour promouvoir l’accordéon dans votre pays ? Le World Accordion day, c’est le 6 mai, jour où l’accordéon a été breveté en 1829. Le World Accordion Day a été lancé en 2009 par la CIA et connait un vaste succès, générant une large publicité positive pour l’accordéon. Un élément clé de cet évènement est le site du World Accordion Day. Il est demandé à chaque association, groupe, orchestre, artiste et professeur de soutenir activement cet evènement en encourageant les activités accordéon locales et nationales dans son pays le jour de l’Accordion Day, ou les week ends l’encadrant si plus commode. Chacun peut enregistrer ses activités du World Accordion Day sur le site web et envoyer ensuite un compte rendu sur ce même site. Aucun évènement n’est trop petit ou trop grand. TOUS les actes célébrant le World Accordion Day sont les bienvenus. Il s’agit d’une action CIA de promotion de l’accordéon à laquelle chaque passionné(e) peut participer, aider à unir le monde de l’accordéon et promouvoir solidement cet instrument. |

Vidéo ci-dessus : extraits de la vidéo d’entracte mettant en valeur l’accordéon. Le concert du nouvel an 2018 du Philharmonique de Vienne avait lieu le 1er janvier 2018 sous la direction de Ricardo Mutti au Musikverein de Vienne. Ce concert était diffusé dans plus de 90 pays avec plus de 50 millions de téléspectateurs à travers le monde. L’ensemble de Chambre "Plattform K+K Vienna" était le sujet de la vidéo d’entracte de 24 minutes produit par ORF, the Vienna Philharmonic, Vienna Tourism et RIHA Filmproduktions GmbH. Les musiciens de Plattform K + K Vienna sont : Kirill Kobantschenko (violon), Christian Bakanic (accordéon), Michael Strasser (alto), Florian Eggner (violoncelle) et Bartosz Sikorski (Contrebasse). L’ensemble a récemment publié l’album “Vienna Is Calling You”, dont était extraites les pièces jouées dans la vidéo. |

Lundi 29 janvier 2018 de 10h00 à 13h00, Claudio Jacomucci animera une masterclasse pour les étudiants de l’Académie Royale de musique de Londres (York Gate 150). L’évènement est gratuit et ouvert à tous, sans billet. Claudio Jacomucci a été brillamment diplômé d’accordéon classique du Conservatoire de Grenoble, France en 1992. Il a étudié l’accordéon avec Jean-Luc Manca, Mogens Ellegaard et Vladimir Zubitsky. Parmi ses succès dans les concours internationaux, le Grand Prix International d’Accordéon de St-Etienne, France (1988), le Trophée Mondial de la CMA à Cuenca, Espagne (1990), le prix de Castelfidardo, Italie (1990), et Arrasate Hiria, Espagne (1994). Il est aussi professeur diplômé de Technique Alexander du centre Alexander d’Amsterdam depuis 2000 et a étudié la musique indienne (Karnatic) au Conservatoire d’ Amsterdam. New compositions by Renzo Ruggieri. Renzo writes: "This composition is born for electronic accordion (hybrid system with acoustic and digital voice). The acoustic and synthesized sounds are all indicated in sheet music and the use of "Looper" is required. The diagram on the last page summarizes the features of the composition." The Stockport Accordion Club newsletter says: The book ‘Stockport Accordion Club through the years’ tells all about us - who we are, who we were, and what we’ve done over the years. The book tells of the club’s history from the 1930s to 2017, and also included are many interesting and autobiographical articles from present and past members, plus some items from previous club newsletters. This limited edition book is a near A4 sized high quality hardback. There are well over 200 photos, including several band line-up photos from the 1950s to 2017, including some from the years when we were known as the Clifford Wood Accordion Orchestra. Accordionist Tommy Ford, from Stirlingshire, passed away on December 23rd at his home in Stirlingshire, Scotland. In 1955 Tommy Ford joined pianist and vocalist Jim McLeod’s Scottish Dance Band as lead accordionist, which from the early 1960s to the late 1990s were one of Scotland’s most high profile bands, with a long-running residency at the Dunblane Hydro and numerous recordings, videos, TV and radio appearances to their credit, including a regular series on BBC Radio 2. Although acknowledged by his peers as one of Scotland’s finest post-war accordionists, Tommy Ford made comparatively few solo concert appearances or solo recordings, but will be remembered for his high quality long service with the late Jim McLeod. He was well like by all who knew or worked with him. |

On Tuesday January 16th, 7.30pm, the highly accomplished accordionist Leonard Brown is the guest at the Dalriada Accordion & Fiddle Club, which meets at The Argyll Inn, 69 Lochnell St, Lochgilphead, Argyll & Bute, West of Scotland, PA31 8JN. Leonard Brown, an All Scotland accordion champion and also a pianist, has many CDs and DVDs to his credit, most notably ‘A Toast to Scotland’, a double DVD celebrating the music of some of Scotland’s accordion legends such as Jimmy Shand and Will Starr. He has also become well-known for promoting concerts in Scotland, including lifetime achievement tribute concerts for Tom Alexander and Davie Stewart. ‘Celtic Connections’ is an annual folk, roots and world music festival at venues in Glasgow, Scotland, from Thursday January 18th to Sunday February 4th. This festival celebrates Celtic music and its connections to cultures around the world. It is anticipated that over 2000 musicians from around the world will arrive in Glasgow for 18 days of concerts, ceilidhs, talks, art exhibitions, workshops, sessions, and free events. ‘Celtic Connections’ is organised by Artistic Director and accordionist Donald Shaw, and features more than 300 events across various musical genres. “There are situations that you’ll see where people are playing that you’ll never see again, or if you do, it’s because it worked here first” says Donald Shaw. This year’s guest line-up featuring accordions includes Le Vent du Nord, Sharon Shannon, John Kirkpatrick, Mairearad Green, Cherish the Ladies, Cuig, John Somerville (leading a beginners accordion workshop), and the fiddle/viola/accordion duo of Andreas Tophøj & Rune Barslund. |

Le Vent du Nord, from Quebec, Canada, performs the lively folk dance music and songs of the Quebecois tradition, which heavily influenced by Celtic music from Ireland and Brittany. Formed in 2002, the band performs their music with a high level of energy, drawing the audience in with their enthusiasm and warmth. All of the band sing and are multi-instrumentalists with guitar, bouzouki, accordion, bass, piano, hurdy gurdy, fiddle and foot percussion. To date they have released eight albums, two of which have received awards. Accordionist Richard Galliano performs in concert on Saturday January 20th, 3pm, at the Cathedral Sainte-Reparate, 3 Place Rossetti, 06300 Nice, in the south of France. Accordion and bandoneon virtuoso, and composer Richard Galliano performs in many genres, from classical to jazz. He records for the prestigious classical music label ‘Deutsche Grammophon’, and has recorded more than 50 albums, many under his own name and some with other artists. His most recent project is the recording of a CD, ‘Aria’, with the organist Thierry Escaich. The CD was launched on December 19th at the church Saint-Etienne-du-Mont, Paris. |
