19. Internationale Akkordeon Festival, Wien – Austriaby Holda Paoletti-Kampl |
  Das diesjährige Internationale Akkordeon Festival, ein einmonatiges Großereignis, findet vom 24. bis 25. Februar an verschiedenen Orten in Wien statt. Das Festival beinhaltet viele formelle und informelle Konzerte und auch einige Stummfilme mit Akkordeon Begleitung.Der Gründer und Organisator des Festivals ist Friedl Preisl (Bild links), sagt, dass 2018 über 50 Künstler aus vielen Ländern, die an 14 verschiedenen Orten auftreten werden. Friedl Preisl erhielt 2009 den CIA Award "Verdienter Freund des Akkordeons" für seinen herausragenden Beitrag zum Akkordeon.  Der renommierte finnische Akkordeonist Mika Väyrynen hat Ende des Jahres 2017 eine Reihe von Weltpremieren und Werken finnischer Komponisten aufgeführt.Die erste Uraufführung war ein neues Werk von Aulis Sallinens Dance Music Suite Op. 107 'für Akkordeon, Violine, Cello und Klavier. Die Uraufführung von Mika Väyrynen fand am 8. September 2017 im Rahmen des Loviisa Sibelius Festivals in der Kirche von Porvoo statt. Am 11. Oktober 2017 spielte Mika (Bild rechts) anlässlich des 50. Geburtstagskonzerts "Suomi 100 - Väyrynen 50" von Mika in der Camerata Halle des Musikzentrums in Helsinki ein finnisches Programm, das sechs Weltpremieren umfasste und seine Premiere feierte neueste CD, die Akkordeonwerke des verstorbenen Jouni Kaipainen (1956-2015). Ich bedanke mich sehr herzlich bei Mika, dass er einige seiner Gedanken und Ansichten und uns über seine Arbeit mit einigen der herausragendsten Komponisten Finnlands mit uns geteilt hat.  Was machen Sie am Welt Akkordeon Tag um das Akkordeon in Ihrem Land zu fördern? Der Welt Akkordeon Tag ist am 6. Mai, dem Tag, an dem das Akkordeon 1829 patentiert wurde.Der Welt Akkordeon Tag wurde 2009 von der CIA ins Leben gerufen und war bisher sehr erfolgreich, was eine große und positive Reaktion für das Akkordeon in der Öffentlichkeit erzeugte. Ein wichtiger Teil dieser Veranstaltung ist die Website des World Accordion Day. Jeder Verein, jede Gruppe, jedes Orchester, jeder Darsteller und jeder Lehrer wird gebeten, diese Veranstaltung aktiv zu unterstützen, indem nationale und lokale Akkordeon-Aktivitäten im jeweiligen Land an diesem oder dem Wochenende nahe des Akkordeon-Tages aufgeführt werden. Jeder kann seinen World-Accordion-Day-Aktivitäten auf der Website registrieren und einen Bericht über ihre Veranstaltung senden. Kein Ereignis ist zu groß oder zu klein. Alle Akkordeon Events, die den Welt Akkordeon Tag feiern, sind willkommen.  Video oben: Auszüge mit Akkordeon aus dem Intermission Video.Das Neujahrskonzert der Wiener Philharmoniker 2018 fand am 1. Januar 2018 unter der Leitung von Riccardo Muti im Musikverein in Wien statt. Das Konzert wurde in über 90 Ländern mit rund 50 Millionen Fernsehzuschauern weltweit ausgestrahlt. Das Kammerensemble "Plattform K + K Wien" war im 24-minütigen Pausenvideo des ORF, der Wiener Philharmoniker, der Vienna Tourism und der RIHA Filmproduktions GmbH zu sehen. Plattform K + K Wiener Spieler sind: Kirill Kobantschenko (Violine), Christian Bakanic (Akkordeon), Michael Strasser (Viola), Florian Eggner (Cello) und Bartosz Sikorski (Kontrabass).  Am Montag, 29. Januar, von 10 bis 13 Uhr, präsentiert der italienische Akkordeonist Claudio Jacomucci eine Meisterklasse für Studenten der Royal Academy of Music (York Gate 150). Die Veranstaltung ist kostenlos, für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich und keine Tickets erforderlich.Claudio Jacomucci schloss sein Studium 1992 am Konservatorium Grenoble in Frankreich mit Auszeichnung ab. Er studierte Akkordeon bei Jean Luc Manca, Mogens Ellegaard und Vladimir Zubitsky. Zu seinen internationalen Wettbewerbserfolgen zählen der Gewinn des Grand Prix International d'Accordéon in St. Etienne, Frankreich (1988), CMA Trophee Mondial in Cuenca, Spanien (1990), Premio Città di Castelfidardo, Italien (1990) und Arrasate Hiria, Spanien ( 1994). Im Jahr 2000 beendete er sein Studium als Alexander-Technik-Lehrer am Alexander-Technik-Zentrum in Amsterdam ab und studierte am Konservatorium von Amsterdam indische Musik (karnatic). Die Königliche Musikakademie wurde 1822 gegründet und erhielt 1830 ihre Königliche Charta. Das RAM ist eines der berühmtesten Konservatorien der Welt.  The Stockport Accordion Club newsletter says: The book ‘Stockport Accordion Club through the years’ tells all about us - who we are, who we were, and what we’ve done over the years. The book tells of the club’s history from the 1930s to 2017, and also included are many interesting and autobiographical articles from present and past members, plus some items from previous club newsletters. This limited edition book is a near A4 sized high quality hardback. There are well over 200 photos, including several band line-up photos from the 1950s to 2017, including some from the years when we were known as the Clifford Wood Accordion Orchestra.  Accordionist Tommy Ford, from Stirlingshire, passed away on December 23rd at his home in Stirlingshire, Scotland. In 1955 Tommy Ford joined pianist and vocalist Jim McLeod’s Scottish Dance Band as lead accordionist, which from the early 1960s to the late 1990s were one of Scotland’s most high profile bands, with a long-running residency at the Dunblane Hydro and numerous recordings, videos, TV and radio appearances to their credit, including a regular series on BBC Radio 2.Although acknowledged by his peers as one of Scotland’s finest post-war accordionists, Tommy Ford made comparatively few solo concert appearances or solo recordings, but will be remembered for his high quality long service with the late Jim McLeod. He was well like by all who knew or worked with him. |

 On Tuesday January 16th, 7.30pm, the highly accomplished accordionist Leonard Brown is the guest at the Dalriada Accordion & Fiddle Club, which meets at The Argyll Inn, 69 Lochnell St, Lochgilphead, Argyll & Bute, West of Scotland, PA31 8JN. Leonard Brown, an All Scotland accordion champion and also a pianist, has many CDs and DVDs to his credit, most notably ‘A Toast to Scotland’, a double DVD celebrating the music of some of Scotland’s accordion legends such as Jimmy Shand and Will Starr. He has also become well-known for promoting concerts in Scotland, including lifetime achievement tribute concerts for Tom Alexander and Davie Stewart. | ‘Celtic Connections’ is an annual folk, roots and world music festival at venues in Glasgow, Scotland, from Thursday January 18th to Sunday February 4th. This festival celebrates Celtic music and its connections to cultures around the world. It is anticipated that over 2000 musicians from around the world will arrive in Glasgow for 18 days of concerts, ceilidhs, talks, art exhibitions, workshops, sessions, and free events. ‘Celtic Connections’ is organised by Artistic Director and accordionist Donald Shaw, and features more than 300 events across various musical genres. “There are situations that you’ll see where people are playing that you’ll never see again, or if you do, it’s because it worked here first” says Donald Shaw. This year’s guest line-up featuring accordions includes Le Vent du Nord, Sharon Shannon, John Kirkpatrick, Mairearad Green, Cherish the Ladies, Cuig, John Somerville (leading a beginners accordion workshop), and the fiddle/viola/accordion duo of Andreas Tophøj & Rune Barslund. |

| Le Vent du Nord, from Quebec, Canada, performs the lively folk dance music and songs of the Quebecois tradition, which heavily influenced by Celtic music from Ireland and Brittany. Formed in 2002, the band performs their music with a high level of energy, drawing the audience in with their enthusiasm and warmth. All of the band sing and are multi-instrumentalists with guitar, bouzouki, accordion, bass, piano, hurdy gurdy, fiddle and foot percussion. To date they have released eight albums, two of which have received awards.  Accordionist Richard Galliano performs in concert on Saturday January 20th, 3pm, at the Cathedral Sainte-Reparate, 3 Place Rossetti, 06300 Nice, in the south of France.Accordion and bandoneon virtuoso, and composer Richard Galliano performs in many genres, from classical to jazz. He records for the prestigious classical music label ‘Deutsche Grammophon’, and has recorded more than 50 albums, many under his own name and some with other artists.
