| Derek Jenner, from Bournemouth, an ex-Guardsman, has retired from running a Bavarian style band called the ‘Alpengold Blaskappeller’. Over the years he has employed a variety of accordion players, and all got together with other musicians that have played for the band over the years to celebrate Derek’s retirement. The evening, held at the Laguna Hotel, Bournemouth, on January 29th, was planned and coordinated by Andrew Hague, the band’s last regular accordionist. As well as wishing Derek all the best, the musicians played some of the pieces from the band’s repertoire. At a certain point in the evening there were no less than six accordionists, trumpet, two clarinets, two trombones, four tubas, and two drummers.
