| Die National Accordion Association (NAA) Convention wird vom 15. bis 19. März 2023 im Hilton Hotel, Richardson, Texas, USA, stattfinden. Auf der Convention werden 2023 Versionen amerikanischer Musik präsentiert, die als heutige Musik vermarktet werden können. Die Musik ist eine Kombination aus zeitgenössischer amerikanischer Musik, die von Einwanderern aus den USA stammt, die ihre musikalischen Werte und Traditionen mitbrachten, als sie sich dem großen amerikanischen Schmelztiegel anschlossen. Die Musik ist eine Mischung aus verschiedenen Musikstilen, zu denen unter anderem populäre Melodien, Volksmusik, Country und Western (C&W), Balladen, die eine Geschichte erzählen, Rock and Roll, Polkas und Walzer, europäische Musik, Gospel und Jazz gehören. Darüber hinaus bietet die Veranstaltung 2023 weitere Lernmöglichkeiten wie kreatives Denken und die Anwendung von Musik, Gehörbildung, Artikulation und Balgkontrolle, Übungstechniken, Blattspiel, Musiktheorie, Aufführungstechniken und Auftrittsmöglichkeiten. | Der 51. Kleine Tag der Harmonika wird am 4. und 5. März 2023 in Klingenthal, Deutschland, stattfinden. Die Wettbewerbe sind jungen Akkordeonisten bis 19 Jahre aus der gesamten Bundesrepublik Deutschland und der Tschechischen Republik vorbehalten. Sie sind eingeladen, sich in einem fairen Wettbewerb zu messen und Wettbewerbserfahrung zu sammeln. Die Wettbewerbsklassen umfassen Alterskategorien für Solisten, Duos und kammermusikalische Ensembles für bis zu fünf Musiker, darunter mindestens ein Akkordeon. Anmeldeschluss ist der 15. | Der argentinische Bandoneonist Rodolfo Mederos wird am 11. Dezember 2022 um 16 Uhr in der Residenz des argentinischen Botschafters in London, England, UK ein Tangokonzert mit Vortrag geben. Dies ist eine hervorragende Gelegenheit, einen der bekanntesten Musiker der argentinischen Tangoszene zu erleben. Die Veranstaltung wird von der argentinischen Botschaft im Vereinigten Königreich in Zusammenarbeit mit der Anglo-Argentinischen Gesellschaft und dem Team des London Tango Marathon organisiert. Der Vortrag wird in spanischer Sprache mit musikalischen Interpretationen gehalten, gefolgt von einer Weihnachts-Milonga. Der Erlös geht an das Programa Puentes der Delfina-Stiftung. |

 The Lighthouse Function Center in Dargaville, New Zealand was filled to capacity for the 17th Afternoon of Music with Kevin Friedrich and Friends, a Variety Show featuring accordionists and entertainers from different parts of New Zealand. Report at: 2022DargavilleAccordionist Kevin Friedrich hosted his popular fundraising concert called ‘Christmas Joy’, on December 4th, 2022 at 1:00 PM. Presented by The Dargaville Museum, the 17th Afternoon of Music with Kevin Friedrich and Friends featured a variety of traditional and lighter themed Holiday music. Guest artists included the North Shore Accordion Orchestra, Anna Collins, Paul Jonson, Lionel Reekie, Jone Yelcich, Take 6, Linda Emmett Litt, Thomas Koloi, Rivertown Singers, Roslyn Gilmour, Alanah Jones, Maurice Jones, The Kaipara Ensemble, Sonja Whitehouse, Ian Bartlett and Jean Reid. The popular annual Holiday Show Concerts, which have been added to the annual regular season concerts, are a wonderful event for all ages, bringing the community and guests together for an afternoon of music and friendship. All proceeds are donated to the Dargaville Museum in support of their efforts to showcase the history of the community for future generations to enjoy. The Dargaville Museum hosts the only public accordion exhibition in the Southern Hemisphere “Accordion Gems, A Master Collection of Accordions Through Time”. Established and curated by Kevin Friedrich, the 140 instruments on display showcase the fascinating evolution of the instrument over its nearly 200 years. Report at: 2022Dargaville |

He will be invited by the organizers to give a series of concerts at the 2023 XXX “Arrasate Hiria” International Accordion Competition. The event was held from December 2nd to 4th, 2022, organised by “Hauspoz” Euskal Herriko Akordeoi Elkartea, the Town Hall of Arrasate and the County Council of Gipuzkoa. The international jury, which included Veli Kujala (Finland), Geir Draugsvoll (Norway), Ander Telleria (Spain), Mie Miki (Japan/Germany), announced only twenty hundredths separated the first and third placings. | Black Pencil, which includes accordionist Marko Kassl will perform a concert at the Kunstlinie Kleine Zaal (Small Hall) in Almere, Netherlands on December 15th, 2022 at 8.30pm. The concert, entitled A-A-Almere, will include music written by Almere composers and dedicated to special Almere places with colorful classical music, live video and electronics. Special guest is Brazilian dancer and choreographer, Samir Calixto. The programme will also include music by Calliope Tsoupaki, Arnoud Zelf, Come Out Caioni, Thomas Morley, John Cage, Alfred Momotenko as well as a preview of Black Pencil’s upcoming project “La Noche Eterna” which will premiere on February 16th, 2023 at theatres in Zwolle, Netherlands. | “Get Back Unplugged” will perform a concert of The Beatles music at a Milton St House Concert in Nanaimo, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, on January 7th, 2023, hosted by Harbour City Concerts. The group “Get Back Unplugged” started as an idea of Vancouver-based folk-pop trio The Wahs after seeing the recent Peter Jackson-produced documentary about the famous Get Back recording sessions and the celebrated Beatles rooftop concert. The band includes Allan Dionne (accordion & vocals), Cam Wilson (violin & vocals), Andy Hillhouse (guitar & vocals), Brent Gubbels (bass & vocals), LJ Mounteney (vocals) and Dave Gibbons (guitar & vocals). |

 The latest updated and expanded article was originally published in 2004 as part of my annual series discussing AAA music commissions carried out by Elsie Bennet, beginning in 1957 with Paul Creston’s Prelude and Dance. It examines the fifteenth and sixteenth commissions, Aria, Scherzo, and Finale, for accordion and orchestra (1961), by Louis B. Gordon, and Night Music, for accordion and string quartet (1964), by David Diamond.
