World Accordion Day Italian Qualifications, 6th May, in Castelfidardo - Italyby Mirco Soprani |

| Osimo and Castelfidardo cities are right next to each other and are united in the name of the accordion. The 70th Confédération Internationale des Accordéonistes (CIA) Coupe Mondiale International Competition and 42nd PIF International Accordion Prize “Città di Castelfidardo” will be held in September 2017. Coupe Mondiale, 5th - 9th September in Osimo and PIF, 10th - 17th September in Castelfidardo. There was no dispute, as some had feared. Quite the contrary. Once the CIA Congress awarded the 70th Coupe Mondiale to Osimo, the two city administrations decided to join forces to work together and bring accordionists from all over the globe. Beyond the joint press conference to be held at the headquarters of the region, to present the two events, the first true joint act will take place this Saturday, World Accordion Day, 6th May. The Auditorium San Francesco in Castelfidardo will host, from 9:30 am to 6:30 pm (public invited, free entry), the selection of Italian accordionists for the Coupe Mondiale. The prestigious Selection Jury is: - Dario Flammini, Head of Jury, Conservatory of the Aquila; - Mirco Patarini, Chairman, Music Committee, CIA; - Germano Scurti, Conservatory of Lecce; - Antonio Spaccarotella, Conservatorio Nocera Terinese; There will be 19 soloists and three groups. Qualification Names and Timetable at: 2017itCM.pdf 70th Coupe Mondiale organiser is the CIA Premiere Italian member, Italian Accordion Culture (IAC), which is a nonprofit association dedicated to the research and promotion of Italian accordion traditions, cultural development and the promotion of great accordion events. The 42nd PIF is organised by the City of Castelfidardo.
