Coba Performs at 3.11 Charity Concert, Tokyo – Japanby Christine Johnstone |

  Video: Selection of tunes by Coba.Coba (picture right) will perform at the 3.11 Charity Concert in the Santory Hall, Tokyo (picture above left) on March 11th, 2021 organised by the Japan Cultural and Sports Support Organization for orphans left after the 3/11 earthquake, Team Smile, and Engine 01 Cultural Strategy Council. Coba has performed every year at this annual memorial concert to mark the anniversary of the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Tohoku, Japan. The venue, Santory Hall is one of most famous halls in Tokyo for classical music, however this concert includes a variety of musical styles such as classical, rock, jazz and Japanese traditional music. All of the performers give their time for free. Coba will give a solo performance before being joined by tenor John Ken Nuzzo and Symphonic Orchestra to perform “Mambo Italiano” which was arranged especially by Coba. |

This virtual presentation will feature a slideshow, videos, and performances by Frank Busso, Sr., Joe Cerrito, Don Gerundo, Guy Klucevsek, Dan Mastroiani, Eddie Monteiro, Alexander Poeluev, Mario Tacca, Mary Tokarski, Frank Toscano, and the world premiere of a piece composed for Linda by Dr. Robert Young McMahan.  Video: A home recording of the first movement of Antonio Vivaldi's "Winter" by Ghenadie Rotari.Ghenadie Rotari will give a free online concert entitled “The art of accordion transcription: Bach, Haydn and Grieg” on March 21st, 2021 at 6.30am UTC+13. This concert includes music which was not originally intended for the accordion as it didn't exist at the time. The sound possibilities of the modern concert accordion allows for a convincing transcription of the works, as well as enriching them through a colorful palette of timbres. | The 2021 Leavenworth International Accordion Celebration (LIAC) will take place from June 17th to 20th, 2021, sponsored by the Northwest Accordion Society. This year’s event will be held outdoors due to Covid-19. Their original program which was planned for 2020 (and then moved to 2021) is now being moved to June 16th to 19th, 2022. This includes the Festhalle program, workshops, and Grange activities. Changes for the 2021 event include: • Festhalle activities will have to be cancelled this year. • There will be plenty of entertainment at the outdoor gazebo. • They also have a lovely garden space for jamming and workshops outdoors. • There are also plans to have a virtual adjudication event for students. Organisers are excited to have a great, yet safe festival for accordionists and tourists this year.  Trio Basarab gave a Balkan music concert at La casa de los cuentos in Barcelona, Spain on March 5th, 2021. The trio includes accordionist Anatol Eremciuc, Juan Carlos Buchan (double bass) and Albert Enkaminanko (percussion). They enjoy playing all styles of folk music such as klezmer, gipsy and Balkan. |

| Video: Filmed July 2020, at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Michael Bridge (accordion & piano) and Kornel Wolak (clarinet & piano) have created this elaborate fantasia, based on the popular Bulgarian folk tune, Gankino Horo.” The video is part of Bridge & Wolak's film "From Bach to Benny Goodman." The complete show was filmed in July 2020 at the Isabel Bader Centre for the Performing Arts in Kingston, Ontario. Without a live audience, Bridge & Wolak took the opportunity to film in typically-unseen locations around the hall, including an intimate backstage tour of The Isabel. The complete film is 1h 6m. Michael Bridge and Kornel Wolak are an internationally-acclaimed music & comedy duo, integrating traditional acoustic instruments with 21st century digital technology. They perform their own uniquely re-imagined repertoire of classical, world and jazz fusion.
